Chapter 175: Team fight

Name:Lucifer's Descendant System Author:
"Shit..." Noah thought again as he got up from the bed, his head throbbing with pain. This time he didn't even wait, and still in bed he already bathed in the [Healing Flames] to purify the effect of alcohol on the body, making him go from practically a zombie to a normal and good-natured human.

But as Noah got out of the morning bath, he realized that there was a mess going on outside his room. Apparently there were some people arguing about something.

If he hadn't recognized the voices, Noah would have just dismissed it as a normal argument which had nothing to do with him, but when he realized that his friends were arguing, Noah was concerned.

Usually their team was very close, so hearing them fight so early in the morning was something that made him worry. As a good friend and teammate, Noah didn't want them to be arguing, either to avoid wearing out their friendship, or so as not to wear out the team synergy they had, which was already quite good.

Without even putting on his shirt, wearing only a black denim jacket, Noah opened the door to see what was going on and was faced with a scene that made him have to hold back a laugh.

James and Carlos were laughing as they listened to Kevin lecture Mateo who was lying on the floor with his hands on his head. From the expression on their faces, it was clear to Noah why they were being so loud.

"Get in," Noah said as he left the bedroom door and made room for friends to pass. "Hangover, right?" he asked.

All four nodded, although Mateo, who was more of a lightweight when it came to drinking, regretted nodding his head in approval as this only made him have an even worse headache, which made Kevin fight even more with him.

"You keep wanting to drink as much as these three, but you know you can't take it! Why drink so much? Next time, I won't let you drink!" Kevin said in a loud voice, which made Mateo's head hurt even more. Listening to someone's sermon was horrible, and doing it while hungover could be several times worse.

To relieve his friend's pain, Noah quickly purified Mateo, then Carlos, James, and Kevin. As this was just to purify the hangover, the mana expenditure was very low, even though it was a very energy-consuming skill.

With renewed spirits, the five young men left Noah's room after he put on a shirt and went to breakfast.

"It doesn't make sense... How do you manage to be okay like this every morning?" Marcel said with a smile on his face as he sat with them for breakfast as well. "Yesterday I saw you drinking as if it were the last day of your life... Mateo even vomited and started drinking again, and now I see the five of you sitting around having breakfast as if nothing happened?"

"Hehe, I'm stronger than I look," Mateo said proudly as he puffed out his chest, making Kevin have to control himself not to strangle the boy next to him.

Because of Mateo, Kevin had to stay awake for most of the night as Noah passed out on his own bed when they arrived at the hotel, preventing anyone from asking for a dose of cure to keep from getting sick. This made Kevin Mateo's nanny as he was sick all night.

Hearing Mateo say that to Marcel as if it really was his merit made Kevin roll his eyes and want to throw a dish at Mateo.

"I see... For the one whom it was so bad yesterday to be able to wake up so well today, I really have to take my hat off to you… unless..." Marcel realized something when he noticed the boys gaze sullenly at Noah.

As a fellow Fortress invader with Noah, he knew that Noah was a box of surprises. But since he didn't raid any Fortresses with Noah after he got the [Healing Flames] skill, Marcel wasn't able to confirm his suspensions.

But when it came to Noah, he was sure that the definitive word would be "unpredictable", since at random moments Noah apparently managed to develop a new skill of his Blessing, which always surprised everyone in the invasion group that they had.

Even Marcel, who had a Rank B Blessing and had been blessed for years, couldn't say he had more control over his own Blessing in Rank E than Noah had, even though he had stayed at Rank E for some time because of the training that his master had given to him.

"For some reason, I feel it has something to do with you," he said as he looked at Noah, "but it doesn't matter to me. I wanted to tell you that I also reached Rank D. My master finally allowed me to go to Rank D Fortresses. Maybe we will meet up in one someday." He completed his sentence with a smile.

Hearing this, everyone congratulated Marcel, while Noah and James also said some extra things since the two were already Blessed Rank D.

However, James's tips would probably not even be useful to Marcel, since Marcel's strength was probably already greater than James's because of the efficiency of his Blessing.

But after breakfast, the group headed to the tournament site and entered the virtual lobby directly. Unlike yesterday, this time the atmosphere was a little strange. Some groups were much more excited, probably because they won, others were sad, probably because they lost, while other groups were thirsty for battle, to prove themselves worthy of winning the championship.

But there were two teams that were not in that category, that was the teams of Leroy and Pearl. The two teams were already sure they would make it to the finals, Leroy for being champion, and Pearl for some other reason.

And Noah's team also qualified in that different category, as they were sure they would win their first match. But now, the 16 teams that remained in the Upper Bracket were teams that they would have to take seriously.

Apparently their team was not the only new team in the league. During yesterday's matches there were also three more teams that attracted public attention because of their star players.

While on most teams, as well as on Noah's team, the Ace player was Blessed with a very useful Blessing, on these teams the Ace was actually a player with a generic set of Blessings, a person with a weak Blessing, or a person who didn't even have a Blessing and chose to use a generic Blessing from the game.

This made a large part of the public relate to them and feel represented. After all, players with powerful Blessings were almost always the stars, but they would not be able to represent the part of the public that did not have a Blessing.

Carlos, Kevin, and Mateo were the ones who were most interested in this from Noah's team, as while they watched the recordings of yesterday's matches, they realized that these players were far above the ranking average even just using generic Blessings.

This gave many ideas to the three, who, having reached Rank E with a generic blessing playing for a short time, showed that they already had talent for something like this. Watching the matches of these three players had inspired them a lot.

Noah was already thinking about how he was going to do to kill these players in the matches, since the way they used their generic skills in the matches was very efficient.

'Anyway, this may be something that I will have to find out during a match since just watching these recordings of their battles, I strangely couldn't find any opening in their fighting method,' Noah thought. 'Apparently these three are very skilled, but why did they just appear now? To my knowledge the league here has no history of an abnormal force before, as the public says: But before the championship they hadn't appeared anywhere...'

Noah was feeling that something was not fitting in all this, it was very strange that not just one, but three very skilled players had emerged from nowhere.

'I will have to find that out during the game. Maybe while I am battling one of them I will be able to find out something,' he thought.

But Noah wouldn't have to wait long, as according to the schedule Noah's first opposing team would be precisely one of those three teams.

In this team, the player with the generic Blessing that had become their team's Ace was a swordsman. He was not the team's tank, but he was largely responsible for the overall damage they caused.

What drew a lot of attention from the public and analysts was that unlike normal swordsmen, this young man could do much more damage than even the wizards on his team. He had reflexes far above normal, although he specialized his generic Blessing in strength.

That is, he was a very formidable enemy, with a very high strength and unmatched reflexes to match that strength.

While Noah connected to their match through the team's private room, he tried to think of something he could do to deal with this swordsman to avoid exposing as much as possible the skills he had guarded, but unfortunately he found no possibility to get through without using some of his tricks.

'This battle is going to be difficult.'
