Chapter 189: Deal with the Devil

Name:Lucifer's Descendant System Author:
"You can come in," said the mysterious man with the Oni's face.

Hearing this, the young man soon got excited and headed for the strange "office" that the man was using, followed by Bernard, who always had a cautious expression on his face, prepared to fight at any moment should the need arise. Fortunately, this tension was greatly eased by the naturalness that things happened with the two previous clients who entered before them.

If they were the first to enter that dark place, the probability of Bernard even drawing his own dagger was quite high, but as he saw that nothing bad had happened to the previous groups, he kept his guard a little lower. Although still, he was on the alert, as he did not know what had really happened inside.

Upon entering, the young man looked excitedly around the abandoned site and found the man propped up against an old wall. The place didn't even have a spot for them to sit, but despite having a high status, the young man didn't complain at all, since he knew that the status of this man in front of him was even higher than the status of himself.

"I believe you are the last, am I right?" The man asked matter-of-factly, as if Bernard's clear alertness wasn't affecting him at all. "This is great. I just selected people for this test stage that I thought were the most suitable for a good relationship."

Hearing this, the young man was even more excited, not feeling any of the tension and concern that Bernard was showing. "I am honored to have been selected, sir..."

"Devil, people call me the Devil," the man replied matter-of-factly.

"Mr. Devil. I wonder, how will this deal happen?" The young man asked.

"It is very simple. Each imp has a price. If you just want an imp, the price will be $400. For each additional imp, the price will be increased by $200, that is, the second imp will cost $600 and the third $800, with a total of $1,800 for the three imps. With the 10% discount I offered, the final price will be $1,620 if you wanted all three. Nothing more, nothing less..." the man said as if it were trivial. Hearing this, the young man was surprised. To imagine receiving a powerful subordinate like these imps for such a low price was incredible, until he heard what the man said next. "Per day."

Hearing that he would have to pay $1,620 a day to maintain these imps, he finally realized that it would be a high price to pay. It would be almost $5,000 in rent for just three days with these reinforcements.

He was very discouraged, since just to pay that price he would need to invade two Rank D Fortresses.

But, on the other hand, Bernard was the one who was very excited about this. He had seen in the recordings the strength of these little monsters, three of these red monsters combined would almost have the strength of a blessed Rank D. If he needed to pay only $11,000 to leave his young master with such a useful and powerful bodyguard, he would not mind paying at all. The amount of money that the Williams family invested in the young master each month was so high that paying such a paltry sum to have a Blessed Rank D that they would not be afraid of death was completely insignificant for them.

"What happens if any of them die?" Bernard asked, clearly more excited about this proposal, which surprised the young master who still did not understand the reason for him to act in this way.

The man broke into a strange smile with those big white fangs and answered. "At the cost of a little energy, the user who has control of the imps will have the ability to recall the dead imp once again."

Hearing this made Bernard even more excited. The biggest fear of big families was that a prominent young man would die suddenly in a Fortress, or in an ambush, since all the money invested would be wasted. As much as a family hired a Blessed One to be the bodyguard of the young master, that person, most of the time, would choose to save themselves rather than give their life for someone who was just paying a salary for them.

This made these imps even more valuable in Bernard's view, since as they could be summoned again once more after dying, that would be practically like having a disposable Blessed Rank D that could die all the time for the young master. It was like buying him a second life, no, multiple lives!

This information also attracted the interest of the young man, who came to understand what had interested Bernard so much, even more so because if it were something so valuable he would not even have to pay a cent for these imps, since his family would be willing themselves to pay for it.

"You said that we could test these imps for 60 seconds at no cost. Is that proposal still in place?" Bernard asked cautiously again.

"Without any problem, I will make a disposable contract that you will have the right to know perfectly well what is at no cost as a courtesy. Each one will be able to test the control of a single imp for 60 seconds to understand how the process works, and at the end of the 60 seconds you can decide whether or not to rent one of the imps. " The man said apparently already waiting for a question like that.

Under Bernard's watchful eye and the young man's excited gaze, a brilliant pentagram appeared in the man's hand, which slowly floated towards Bernard and the young man.

Bernard promptly drew his own dagger, preparing to strike back if it was a sneak attack, but when the pentagram stopped in front of him, he immediately understood what it was about, and his look of caution was quickly replaced by confusion, curiosity, and caution once again.

Bernard understood in some way just by looking at that pentagram that after accepting that, he would have control of one of the imps, being able to summon or dismiss the imp with his own desire, besides being able to command him to do almost everything.

"Wait for me to accept first, young master," Bernard said in a serious tone, only to see that the pentagram in front of the young man had already merged with the young master's palm, who was now raising his hand in the air, making a bright red pentagram appear on the floor, followed by a little red imp going through it like a portal.

When the little imp left, he looked around cautiously before looking at Noah, confirming something and then looking at the young man apparently waiting for some order.

"Give me your hand," the young man said to the imp.

The imp did not think twice before reaching for the young man to hold and analyze the black, sharp claws he had, as if he were a child who had just won a new toy.

Seeing that everything was fine for now, Bernard accepted the pentagram and instantly he knew what to do to call an imp like that as well. The amount of energy needed for this was not low, but he could do this several times, as he had the energy reserves of a Blessed Rank C.

When he called the imp, he knew that almost everything he ordered the imp to do it would do, with only a few exceptions that were in the contract, but it was not at all abusive.

In the blink of an eye, 60 seconds had passed, making the pentagram in the hand of each of them disappear and causing the two imps to be sucked down by pentagrams on the floor once again, returning to the place where they came from.

Bernard was delighted. He had noticed that the strength of such an imp alone was very low, probably only in Rank E, but with the total control he had, he knew the intelligence and experience of a Blessed Rank C as himself would have three of these imps with strength greater than many Blessed Rank D and could easily bolster their capability with his own experience.

This was a treasure in front of him, and it was much better than he had imagined. Because of this demonstration, Bernard's caution decreased a lot, giving way to a respect for this man. Since he knew that the man controlled several imps like that, the strength he could exert was much greater than Bernard imagined, probably greater than an old and rusty Blessed Rank C like himself could exercise.

"Sorry for the question, but how do you control them?" Bernard asked with much more respect in his own voice.

The man just kept the strange professional smile on his face and answered, "This is a trade secret, but it is related to my Blessing."

Realizing that the man did not want to answer the delicate question he asked, Bernard was a little embarrassed, but quickly changed the subject to something more pleasant. "I want to rent three imps for 7 days."

The strange smile with the big fangs on the man's face grew into something much more natural. "This is great! The total amount will be $11,340. To maintain professionalism and discretion, we will make the transfer by Bitcoin."

After that, a short conversation between Bernard and the man followed, while the young man continued to play with the imps he had rented and try to understand what they could do to get the most out of them in his Fortress invasions.

But as they left, a phrase that the strange man said struck their minds.

"Thank you for having made your deal with the Devil."
