64 CHAPTER 64: AN EYE FOR AN EYE

It was early in the morning, as a lady open her beautiful eyes. Today she feels empty. It was just like the first time she opened her eyes after being reincarnated. Does she feel happy? The answer is no. does she feel sad? The answer is still no. Not today. She just feels lifeless. Her body ache. Closing the pair of beautiful eyes, she heard some noise outside of her room.

"Bastard! This young master didn't care if you are the prince or even the son of heaven himself! How dare you stayed in my sister's room the whole night!!!!", shouted a man's voice. That voice is laced with menace. The killing intent in it woke Li Xi Rui up from her dangerous state of mind.

'Did something happen?', hastily she sits up.

"Son, stop it!", a woman's voice reprimand her son.

"Mother! How could you just let him off? Cancel the wedding! This man is not qualified!", the same man's voice could be heard again. This time the hostility in the voice is toned down.

"Idiot son! This is all the more reason for them to get married. Do you want your sister to be an old maid? Second prince, please don't take it to heart on what this idiot son of mine said. He is just being his idiot self. This old lady could send him back to the border if he continues being this idiot", said the woman. The tone of the lady is soft but the word 'idiot' in her speech is silently reprimanding her son.

'Long Jie? Why is he here?', Li Xi Rui couldn't figure out why would be outside of her room? Then, wouldn't that mean the lady is her mother and the man is her brother? Wearing her shoes, she opens the door and was greeted by smiles. Fake smiles. Fake smile from her brother, Xiao Xi, QiQi and other servants. Only Long Jie had seem to be stunned while her mother is smirking?

Greeted by the scene in front of her, how could one stay in sadness? Her family seems lively as if there is nothing had happened to them. 'Yes, nothing had happened yet', she thought. How could she forget this fact? She still could do something.

Long Jie move to her side. "Xi Rui, did you have a good sleep?", asked Long Jie. That question seem innocent enough to them but when it reaches Madam Li and Li Mu Han it means something different. Li Mu Han's face turned black while Madam Li could only cough to cover the awkward atmosphere.

"En", Li Xi Rui nodded her head.

Whispering in her ear, Long Jie said, "Don't worry, we will be alright. Everyone will be alright. So let's get through this together". Long Jie couldn't wait to speak to her alone. When she emerged from the door, she looks so enchanting. With her loose hair, her beautiful face and the most beautiful pair of eyes, he couldn't take his eyes off her. He just wants to share her burden. He wanted her to depend on him.

Staring back at Long Jie's eyes, she couldn't help but wanting to believe him. She needed the comfort he provided. Like in a staring contest, two pair of eyes couldn't look away. One, want to offer comfort, and another want to believe. 'I believe you', the voice inside her heart reverberates inside her head. Her heart beats faster. Her tears threatened to fall. She almost gasps at the realization. She never thought that one day she would be here. She would one day believe him. "En", she nodded her head indicating her willingness to believe him.

Long Jie couldn't believe his ears. His Xi Rui is willing to put her trust in him. This time, her eyes didn't show any doubt. It is the kind of trust he has been waiting for. Then, he pulls her towards him, encasing her in a tight embrace. Like how she needed someone to depend on, to comfort her, he too needed her to trust him. "Thank you", he whispered.

Li Xi Rui's tears fell unto his robe. "En", she nodded her head albeit the movement is limited due to his tight embrace. What he didn't see is her smile. The first sincere smile for him.

Looking over the intimate scene are everyone else in the residence. Li Mu Han had wanted to separate them, but her mother's tight grip with her fierce stare made him stop his move. "Mother…", Li Mu Han wanted to protest.

"Shhh.. be quiet!", Madam Li said with a whisper."Everyone, go out!", Madam Li dragged her son from Li Xi Rui's living quarters. She didn't want her son to be an obstacle in her daughter's happiness. Her daughter deserved to be happy. She will make sure that not even her son will interfere in Xi Rui's relationship.

It seems like Li Xi Rui's resolve had change Madam Li's personality. Madam Li is not known for her resoluteness. Rather, she is known to be a kind and soft hearted lady. But Li Xi Rui had taken her protective instinct to another level. To the point that even her son are not going to be spared if he did anything to jeopardize his sister's happiness.

"You can let go now", Li Xi Rui muffled voice could be heard. At first she didn't realize that everyone has left. Not until there was no other noise except the bird could be heard.

Although reluctant, Long Jie slowly releases her. But still holding her gaze, he said, "In the future, you could tell me anything. Don't keep it inside. Our child needed you".

Li Xi Rui touch her small belly. How could she forget her baby? Last night she had forgotten about their baby. She nearly harmed him. 'Sorry', she apologizes to her baby silently. Then looking back at Long Jie, she smiles again. "Thank You", she said. Thank you for promising. Thank you for protecting. Thank you for everything. But what she saw is a stunned Long Jie. Long Jie that had turn into a rock due to Li Xi Rui's smile.

She frowned. 'What had happened? Why is this man not saying anything?', Li Xi Rui thought. Suddenly a mischievous thought emerged in her head. Wanting to tease him, she kisses him. It's not the kind of kiss she did in the carriage. It's a kiss full of mischief. A kiss ended with a bite on his lips. She said, "Long Jie, it's not polite to be distracted in front of your fiancée~".How could he be distracted at the time like that? That's why the heroine didn't fall in love with him. How could one fall in love with a rock without emotion?

'But it was because of you', Long Jie thought. He didn't even feel anything from Xi Rui's bite. It was just like a kitten playing. But he is relieved. She came back. Staring at the mischievous lady in front of him, he is reminded to all their bickering. Li Xi Rui wouldn't back out from throwing insult to him. Insult disguised as praises. But he too wouldn't back out from a fight. 'An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth. And a kiss for a kiss', he thought as he kisses her. 'Now let see how could you retaliate'.

Because this is the Li Xi Rui with her old personality, she decided to comply. Did he think that she would back out? Responding to his kisses, Li Xi Rui take the initiative to deepen their kisses. Entangling their tongues, two figures are involved in a long 'fight'. A fight where there is no clear winner. A fight where everyone else is too shy to watch. Luckily there was no one there. Well, apart from the shadow guards, no one is there.

While the fight has been going on, all the expressionless shadow guards are doing their best to look at a different direction. But even if they couldn't see, it doesn't mean that they are deaf. Slowly, every pair of ear turns red. If only they could mute those sound too~

Jie Er: *Turning his head to see if the fight is over*

Jie Yi: PAKK!! *Slap Jie Er's head* 'It's not over yet! Don't look!' *Eyes narrowed*

Jie Er: 'I just want to see if it's over' *Eyes watered*
