The person who felt the most wronged was, of course, Evil Rampage himself. He was merely a passerby and had just dropped by to pay a visit. Who would have known that he would be regarded as a Twilight City member!
It couldn't be helped. Whenever a player arrived in a new home city, it was basic knowledge that they would register their new resurrection point at the local hotel. Even someone a gaming amateur like Wang Yu had already developed such a habit, much less Evil Rampage.
The moment this transaction occurs, the player would be registered as a Twilight City player. It was exactly what had happened for Evil Rampage.
Even though the rewards for the Quest were unknown, the penalty for failing the Quest was clearly stated. It was death and the confiscation of the player's assets.
The assets that would be confiscated include assets such as a Guild Headquarters shophouse, even the items that a player deposited in the banks would be confiscated.
When facing such Quests, everyone's first thought would be to place all of their valuable items in the banks, such that in the event that they were to unfortunately die, they would not lose any of their valuable items. After all, a player's LV could be trained back. So long as they still had their items with them, it was only a matter of time before they achieved back their previous glory.
However, with such a punishment established, the players would probably be afraid to deposit their valuable items in the banks… After all, the chances of them dying and losing all of the items on them were way smaller than that of the destruction of the home city.
Evil Rampage was truly unlucky… Currently, he was carrying a few tens of thousands of cape fragments on him… His entire inventory had nothing else apart from these fragments… If he was to be hacked to death, he would be more valuable than an actual BOSS!
Thinking up till this point, Evil Rampage was on the verge of tears. Everyone started to wonder if the system had planned all of these deliberately in order to go against the players from Twilight City that had exploited the most from this event.
At this moment, Extravagant Riches was busy proposing the plan of withholding any purchases of the fragments with the other guild leaders of various large guilds. However, the moment the system's announcement rang out, the expressions of these guild leaders became twisted.
Normally, everyone did not dare to harbour the thought of launching an attack against Twilight City. As big as a Guild can get, it was merely an ant as compared the grandeur of a home city.
However, now that Twilight City has become the target of all players in the game from the Light Faction, the situation was no longer the same.
The moment the Quest was issued, there would definitely be countless of players attacking Twilight City. As many players as Twilight City may have, it still could not be compared to the number of players in the game.
The current Quan Zhen Sect definitely could not be compared to how they were in the past. Previously, the players from Quan Zhen Sect didn't even have sufficient resources to afford their basic equipment. However, the resources that these players now held would certainly make countless of players die of envy.
Hence, in the eyes of these people, this Quest was an extremely good opportunity for them. What was initially a discussion on how to slowly drag out and wring Quan Zhen Sect to their death had suddenly become a discussion on how to launch a frontal attack on Quan Zhen Sect.
Of course, the players from Twilight City would not standby and willingly let others do as they please. Emerging victorious in this war would bring them immeasurable prestige. Losing on the other hand would result in them losing everything of value to them. Currently, the players from Twilight City had no way out of their current predicament and were forced into a corner by the system.
There might still be a slim chance of victory should they put up a resistance. Choosing not to take any action on the other hand would only result in imminent death. There were no morals or ethics in the game. The moment the army from the Light Faction had successfully broken into Twilight City, they would naturally take away anything that they can possibly take.
As for the lone players that did not have much possessions, this predicament wasn't much of a concern for them. All they had to do was take out all of their valuable items from the bank and stay offline for two days before playing the game again. After all, the loss of Twilight City wasn't much of a loss for them. However, it was an entirely different case for the guild players in Twilight City. They had a Guild Headquarters, they had friends … after managing it for so long, how could they bear to see someone snatch it all away from them.
Thus, the moment the Quest was announced, Sanguine Warflag had taken the initiative to initiate a group chat with the other Guild Leaders to discuss the matter of survival.
At this moment, everyone was feeling extremely depressed. For someone like Sanguine Warflag who couldn't keep his feelings to himself, he gloomily said, "F*ck, is there something wrong with the system… Why would it target us players from Twilight City."
Captain Don't Open Fire sarcastically replied, "Stop bullsh*tting, it is just our luck to have a player act as a city lord. What's worse is that the Quan Zhen Sect players had actually accumulated more fragments than all of the players in the game combined…"
Upon hearing this, everyone was infuriated and started expressing their discontent, "Technically speaking, we are not the ones that had exploited this event. Furthermore the City Lord isn't even either of us…"
2012, who all along had some beef against Quan Zhen Sect, had even come out to directly scold Quan Zhen Sect, "That's right, what the f*ck is going on… Why should we take the blame for the troubles caused by the Quan Zhen Sect?"
"... Eh." Upon hearing what 2012 said, all of the Guild Leaders were momentarily stunned. Feigning ignorance, Sanguine Warflag said, "2012, what did you just say? I didn't manage to catch it…"
"I didn't hear it either." Everyone else played along.
What kind of nonsense was this. If the players from Quan Zhen Sect were to hear of such a thing, before the players outside of Twilight City had a chance to attack the city, they would have already been long dead by then.
Regaining his senses, with a face full of cold sweat, 2012 asked Sanguine Warflag timidly, "Please tell me the players from Quan Zhen Sect are not in this chat…"
"They aren't…" Sanguine Warflag replied, "I know this bunch of people very well. They don't care about things like their Guild Headquarters. They should have already logged off the game to wait for this predicament to pass."
"F*ck… this bunch of people…" Upon hearing Sanguine Warflag's response, 2012 felt both joy and sadness in his heart.
He was happy at the fact that he did not incur the wrath of Quan Zhen Sect, but at the same time sad that even though this entire situation was caused by them, they had got off scot-free and everyone else here had to deal with their mess.
What's more, even though the bunch of people from Quan Zhen Sect were oddballs, their abilities were nothing to be scoffed at. With just slightly over ten of them, their combined battle strength wasn't in any way weaker compared to that of a large guild. Especially more so for the pair, Wang Yu and Fearless, who, up till this date, were still the greatest nightmare of every large guild.
Currently, in the face of such a great enemy, everyone had very little confidence in winning this battle. Now that the people from Quan Zhen Sect weren't around, they did not entertain any hope of coming out of this alive.
"That's not right. Why do I still see them online?" At this moment, Captain Don't Open Fire interjected and said, after taking a glance at his friends list.
"Oh? Is that true?" Upon hearing this, everyone's expression became conflicted…
In all honesty, everyone truly didn't want to cooperate with Quan Zhen Sect. However, without them, it would feel as if they didn't have someone to back them up, making them feel insecure… For these large guilds to actually develop such a reliance on these ten over players was something unimaginable.
Just when everyone was contemplating whether they should invite everyone from Quan Zhen Sect over into the chat, Sanguine Warflag had already jumped the gun and did so.
"Eh? What's this group chat?" Everyone was puzzled by Sanguine Warflag's sudden invitation.
Fearless, on the other hand, coolly replied, "What else could this be for. Of course, it is to discuss how to deal with the incoming enemy. It has been a good ten minutes after the announcement has been made, could it be that you guys were discussing how to deal with us Quan Zhen Sect?"
Seems like Fearless was aware of the situation… He knew fully well that the current predicament of Twilight City was caused by them.
"This…"
Upon hearing what Fearless said, everyone started to feel a little awkward. Thankfully for Sanguine Warflag's thick skin, he immediately shifted the topic back to the matter at hand, "Boss Fearless, now that we are all in the same boat, you have to call the shots for us."
Fearless indifferently replied, "Tsk, I'm not the city lord. Why am I the one calling the shots."
"Brother Bull!!" Sanguine Warflag and the rest hurriedly pleaded with Wang Yu.
Seeing the state that everyone was in, the good-natured Wang Yu couldn't bear to bully them any further. Waving his hand, he said, "Alright!"
"F*ck!" Fearless pointed his middle finger at Wang Yu, following which he said in the chat group, "Everyone, make your way over to the City Lord's Mansion. Remember to bring along a copy of Twilight City's map."
