"God's army is catching up?" Fearless only understood the scenario when he heard this. They were currently in the eve of the Atlanta City's catastrophe. Concurrently, it wasn't hard to guess that their mission should be to help defend the attacks of the army.
"Yes! According to the news brought back by our investigative eagle, the Church's army under the leadership of holy force is arriving at the foot of the Lawrence Mountain Range," Reynolds answered.
"Investigative eagle? What is that?" a curious Moonless Thunder asked.
Reynolds pointed to the large bird on top of the UFO as he said, "That is the investigative eagle. They are installed with the eagle eye instrument which enables them to transmit the content they obtained into our eyes.
"What?! Spy plane?!" Everyone couldn't help but feel surprised. No wonder this was an ancient peak grade city where magic and technology development were expanding rapidly. This was clearly a western fantasy game, but Atlanta actually produced a plaything like this spy plane. How ridiculous!
However, Fearless was frowning hard.
Atlanta City was back facing the mountains and front facing the ocean. According to logic, the Church's army should be coming from the ocean. However, Reynolds mentioned that the army was coming from Lawrence Mountain Range. This was where Fearless felt amiss. Unless the Church's technology was also advanced beyond his imagination?
"Does the Church's army have some sort of flying device too?" Fearless asked.
"God's army is always against technology," Reynolds answered.
Fearless smiled, "Then why are you so afraid? They will take some time to cross the Lawrence Mountain Range."
"Keep your ignorance to yourself. That is the God's army you're talking about…"
"Not good! Something is happening there!" Before Reynolds could complete his sentence, Wang Yu suddenly pointed towards the direction of the Lawrence Mountain Range.
Everyone turned their heads hurriedly as they witnessed a light blade surged up into the sky. Shortly after, the loud sound of a mountain collapsing could be heard. Following that, the top of the Lawrence Mountain Range was enveloped in fumes.
After the fumes dispersed, the eyeballs of all the players on the Tower of Elements almost flew out.
A large gap appeared between the originally continuous mountain range. On the other side of the gap, a Knight dressed in all white was floating in mid-air. Beneath him was an army dressed in white armour. They instantly turned the entire ground white.
Reynolds squinted his eyes to look at the floating Knight before exclaiming in shock, "Splitting the mountain range with one strike of his sword? Seems like this force is going to be difficult to handle just like how it was rumoured to be."
"What? Strike of the sword? I thought they used some sort of magical crystal to blow it up."
After hearing what Reynolds said, everyone took a closer look at the mountain range. Indeed, the gap was cleaved using a sword. Because of how neat the cut was, they knew it was not blown up. At the same time, everyone turned pale.
Even though everyone was doubtful initially, the truth was displayed right in front of them. Therefore, they had to accept this fact. An NPC of this grade should be one of the greatest, right? At the very least, he would not be any weaker than Reynolds, who could control the heaven and earth. Is this really a level 60 dungeon? Are you sure it is not a level 200 dungeon?
"There are no magical crystals capable of destroying a mountain range. The members of the Holy Knight Army are the most resolute believers of the Church. Therefore, they will not use such items." Reynolds responded.
Wang Yu's pupil contracted when he heard that, "Holy Knight?"
Wang Yu had been to Vatican City before and even caused quite a huge commotion there. Therefore, he had quite a deep impression of those iron cans.
Those fellas were experts in both magic and physical fights and were equally capable of defending and attacking. They were basically all-rounded NPCs and were even more capable than some regular small BOSS.
Back in Vatican City, there was merely a small team of low level Holy Knights but it was enough to defeat Dawn's First Ray's guild thoroughly. Presently, there were over one thousand of those Holy Knights on the other side of the gap. Evidently, this dungeon was not meant for current players to complete. It was no wonder this was an S-grade quest.
At this moment, the floating ruling official shouted, "People of Atlanta City, listen up. Even though you have violated the wishes of God, God is merciful and is willing to give everyone a second chance. As long as you stop all the meaningless researches, destroy everything you call technology, God will…"
"Heh, what is he talking about?" a frustrated Ming Du asked.
"I think he is advising us to surrender…" Wang Yu replied.
"Oh, I think that is a pretty good idea. What about you guys?" Ming Du turned to ask the rest.
This person still had the energy to say all these nonsense after cleaving the mountain. Evidently, that was not the full force of his power. Just the 200 of them was definitely not enough to hold them back.
"?" Reynolds looked unhappily at Ming Du.
Fearless hurriedly shut Ming Du's mouth by pulling him to the back, "Can you not talk so much for once?!"
"Alright, let's not waste any more time. Hurry up and get on my flying device. I will bring everyone down," Reynolds suggested.
"Stop messing with us! How many people can this broken plaything fit?" Ming Du replied in an unpleasant tone.
Reynolds' flying device was of the same size as a normal car on the road. However, there were 200 hundred players on the platform, so it was seemingly impossible to fit everyone in that small device. It might be even more practical for some of them to jump right off the tower now.
Reynolds smiled faintly, "Just board and you'll know how much space we have."
"Eh…"
"Old Li, stop with all your nonsense!" Just when Ming Du was going to continue spouting rubbish, he was dragged and thrown into the flying device by Wang Yu. After him, the other Quan Zhen Sect members went into the flying device too.
To everyone's surprise, while the flying device looked only as big as a car on the outside, there was plenty of space on the inside. After two hundred players sat down in it, there was still plenty of free space around.
Once everyone was on board, Reynolds activated the flying device and got off the land.
Fearless asked, "Master Reynolds, according to what I know, spatial magic could only be put on lifeless items, right?"
"I like people who ask questions." Reynolds looked at Fearless in admiration before answering, "But this isn't just magic. This is technology too."
"Technology?" Fearless did not expect this answer from Reynolds.
"Indeed. Space, time, matter and spirit are what constitutes an element in the world which can be reflected in many ways. Magic is only useful to a certain extent while technology allows us to discover the essence of creating. The main reason why God has abandoned us is due to the fact that we are getting our hands on such researches." Reynolds continued, "I really do not understand why God is so unwilling to accept the advancement of technology."
Fearless smiled bitterly, "Because if you successfully manage to uncover the essence of the world, you guys will become God too. In God's eyes, he might not think that it is necessary to have more than one God in the world."
"En, I think you're right. I'm happy to have this conversation with you!" Reynolds nodded while being deep in thoughts."
"I'm also happy to meet a great learner like you." Fearless kept his frivolous attitude as he replied respectfully.
Even though Reynolds was only an NPC, the Atlanta Tribe's attitude towards technology was extremely admirable.
"Alright, we're here. After alighting, go to the plaza to look for the Great Elder, who will be giving you your quests. I will go and meet that ruling official now. If I can make it back alive, I do hope to have a few drinks with you," Reynolds told Fearless.
"We will have the opportunity." Fearless laughed as he opened the door and jumped out of the flying device.
