Chapter 3：CHAPTER 3 : MOM I GOT A JOB

The next day, Josh got ready for interview. He bought a set of nice suit from nearby market. He made up his mind to go to company A today. He was not that ambitious to choosed a big company to start with. He knew he from a small town, still need to learn a lot and he also thought a big company must have high demand as well. So, he thought he would try a growing company instead.

"Excuse me miss, I'm Joshiro Wu. I'm here for interview. Here is the letter I got from your company." Josh showed the receptionist the letter he got two days ago. "OK, you may have a sit in there while waiting for calling" The receptionist showed him the bench. He sat down at one of the desk together with other applicants. After waiting for a hour the secretary called his name.

Secretary :"Who is Mr. Joshiro Wu ?

Josh :"It's me. Here !"

Secretary :"OK, follow me"

Then the secretary lead the way to the CEO office. Josh sat down in a chair in front of Douglas Liu the CEO desk.

Doug :"What's your name young man ?"

Josh :"Joshiro Wu sir, but just call me Josh."

Doug :"You had just graduated from high school right according to your resume ?"

Josh :"Yes, you're right sir."

Doug :"But it said at your resume that you had some experience from engineering job before, how come ?"

Josh :"Well, I used to help my dad after my school ended. We used to fixing some broken ship engines. Until I graduated high school."

Doug :"So, you just learnt your skill through your dad only ? Not a proper engineering school ? How can you convinced me to take you as my worker ?"

Josh :"You can try to test me sir, I'm pretty sure with my skill."

Doug :"Well done young man, I like your spirit ! I'll give you a chance to prove me your skill about 3 days ? No, how about a week ?"

Josh :"Thank you sir, for letting me to try."

Doug :"OK, you can come again tomorrow for work."

Josh :"Ok, see you tomorrow sir."

Doug ordered his secretary to keep his resume, and gave signal to call another applicant. Josh went home with a big smile on his face. He planned to call his mom tonight.

He had a lunch that noon at hawker near the company. While he ate his lunch he heard other workers chatting to each other about their work. Seems like they were ship engineer also, they discussed about some engine problem inside the ship. Josh listened to their discussing carefully and tried to analyze what the real problem is, he thought maybe it could help him to start his work tomorrow.

He went home and entered his room directly, then he searched some books which can answered his puzzle about the ship problem he just heard before. He read those books till night come, Phillip just came and he saw Josh got sleep with a book covered his face, he woke him up then and asked him to grab some dinner. Josh woke up, he remembered he wanted to call his mom. He went out with Phillip to had dinner and looked for a payphone on their way to dinner.

Josh :"Hello aunt Xie how are you ?"

Mrs. Xie :"Hi, how are you Josh ? Are you with Phillip now ?"

Josh : "Yes, aunt, do you wanna talk to him ?"

Mrs.Xie :"Yes, I'd love to. I missed you both !"

Josh gave to phone to Phillip "Here your mom wants to talk to you. If you finish I want to talk to my mom also ok."

Phillip took the phone and talked to his mom for a while, then he gave the phone back to Josh.

Josh :"Hi mom, are you OK ? Don't forget to close the window at night, don't get sick while I'm not around !"

Mrs. Wu :"Don't worry son I'm fine ! How about you, have you eat your dinner ?"

Josh :"Not yet. I called you first before we have dinner. I just wanna tell you a good news. Mom I've got a job in a big ship company. Wish me luck OK !"

Mrs.Wu :"Well done my son, I know you'll going to be success one day. Just do your best ! And your boss will see your sincerity !"

Josh :"Yes, I'll sure to do it mom. OK, we'll going now. See you later. Bye !"

They ended up the call. Josh mom tears in happy heard his son's voice, she knew he'll be success one day with his sincere effort. All she could do just pray for his success everyday.

The next day...

Josh entered the office and the receptionist called someone to show him the way to the work place in the ship. As he had predicted yesterday, he went to the broken engine inside of a ship. He asked the worker around about the condition before and he started his move. After three hours he could fix the problem with the engine and everyone appreciated his work. This good news had through the CEO ear "Hmm, not bad for a start young man... who's his name ?.... Ah, Josh ? hahaha wait for my other task !" The CEO speak to himself with a big smile. Then the CEO instructed his man to give Josh other work.

Josh was happy he could past his first task. He was excited to take another task. Then one of the worker came and showed him another broken engine. This time bigger engine he faced and took more time for him to fix it. But finally he could finish fix it before working hours ended. He satisfied about his work that day and went home happily. About his successful second task past through the CEO again "Hmm looks like he could be my trusted man, let's see tomorrow" The CEO speak on his mind.

That night Josh told Phil about his experience at company A "I believe I can stay for long at that company. Just wait Phil, I'll take you there too !"

A week had passed and Josh could finished all his task, the CEO called him in his office.

Doug :"Welcome Mr.Wu or I just call you Josh ?"

Josh :"Yes, just call me Josh."

Dough :"Congratulation Josh ! You're officially hired in here !"

Josh :"Thank you sir, don't worry, I'll do my best for you !"

Doug :"Sure, I'll look forward to your other achievement ! See you tomorrow !"

Josh went home and he laughed out loud "Yes, I did it !"

He went to his room and met Phil "Phil, I got hired !" He told him with big smile on his face. Phil got happy also heard his good news. Josh told him about his plan "Phil, I think I will move tomorrow, I have to stay near my work place to reduce cost. I've got one today, it's a small boarding house. Will you move together with me ?" Phil thought for a while "Maybe I'll follow you if I got hired at your company also."

The next day, Josh packed his things and got ready to go "Hey, are you sure you won't come with me ? Just see my new place will you ? Today is your day off right ?" Phil heaved a heavy sigh "OK I'll go with you !"
