Chapter 29 - Meeting In-Law (Part 2)

Angeline still couldn't believe what was showing before her own eyes. She couldn't help crying when she saw a name engraved on a tombstone.

Angeline began to feel bad when David turned his car into the parking lot of a public cemetery. And when David picked up a basket full of flowers, Angeline felt even worse.

Now, Angeline was in David's warm arms while still crying.

David did not forbid Angeline to cry, because she had the right to cry over her aunt's death. Even Angeline did not know that her aunt had died because she was killed by her own husband, namely Uncle Joaquin.

Now Angeline understands the reason why Uncle Joquin is in prison. At first she thought that her uncle was arrested for being in debt to do his hobby, it is gambling. But it turned out that he was being held in prison for murdering his own wife.

On the night Angeline managed to escape and meet David, that's where Uncle Joaquin got out of control and beat his wife badly. Finally his wife died of bleeding. Uncle Joaquin was wanted by the police for several days until he was finally arrested when he was about to run out of town.

"This can't be happening, David. Tell me, this is just a lie!" whined Angeline in David's arms. David was just silent, he couldn't say anything.

Even though David has powers that even others can never imagine, he is not a God who can bring the dead back to life.

He can only take lives, but cannot return them.

Angeline's crying really hurt David's feelings. Even David could feel the pain that Angeline was suffering from. And what annoyed him was that he could do nothing to stop the crying that sounded very painful to him and return the beautiful smile that usually painted Angeline's pretty face.

David could only bow his head toward the grave head to pay his last respects to his mother-in-law, Aunt Samantha.

If there was someone from the Underworld who saw what David was doing they would be shocked to death. Especially if they knew who David really was. Because David never bowed his head at all to all the peoples he had taken their life so brutally and mercilessly.

Of course, a Devil on the battlefield like David would never bow his head to anyone, even if he had to risk his own life.

This time it was the first time in history that a David Stockholm, the most respected and feared mafia in the Underworld bowed his head. This he did to honor and thank Aunt Samantha, for being kind to Angeline and giving Angeline such great love that she could not get from her parents who had died a very long ago.

David knew that, because there was no way Angeline could cry this badly if Aunt Samantha wasn't that kind of person. During her lifetime, Aunt Samantha must have loved Angeline very much.

And it makes David proud to be her son-in-law, even though Aunt Samantha is now in a different realm from David and Angeline.

Fifteen minutes passed, Angeline's scream which hurt David's heart now faded, though the girl was still sobbing in David's arms. In his heart, David also wanted to cry at the voice of Angeline's crying, which hurt him. It's just that David doesn't want to look weak in front of the girl he loves.

And maybe Angeline would even laugh at him, if the person who was known as the Demon Prince who was feared by the entire mafia throughout the Underworld had tears in his eyes. Even though Angeline wouldn't actually think of it that way, it's just that David wasn't used to shedding tears.

David indeed prefers to vent his feelings on the punching bag he beat so badly in the gym, rather than having to cry about it, even though sometimes he experiences things that are too painful, crying is David's last choice to vent what he feels.

But since he lived with Angeline, almost every night he shed tears while staring at the peaceful face of his wife who was deep asleep.

David truly dreaded that he could not provide the quiet and peaceful family life Angeline deserved, without having to fear the threat of shooters hiding somewhere every time they stepped out of the house. Or rather an apartment. It was what made David cry almost every night without Angeline knowing.

Even though David was accustomed to it--living alertly to the threat of a murderer who wanted his life at any moment anytime, he did not believe that Angeline would be able to live in the shadow of her life being threatened anytime and anywhere like he did all this time.

Although David did not know that Angeline's feelings for him were too deep. The girl is really ready for the family life that will await her. No matter how cruel life may be, as long as she is by David's side, Angeline is able to accept even the worst conditions.

David didn't realize that yet. Even if David knew that Angeline had deep feelings for him, he didn't want her living the kind of miserable life he had when he first set foot in a world that was dark and filled with bullets and blood.

Until now, David is still thinking, can he bring happiness to Angeline?

But the sound of crying which had now stopped made David, who had previously been deep in thought, regained his senses again.

David held up the wicker basket filled with white flower petals. "Want to help me sprinkle it on your aunt's grave?"

Angeline wiped the remaining tears on her cheeks and nodded slowly. They both sprinkled the flower petals on top of Aunt Samantha's grave. After the petals were gone, David invited Angeline to sit on the edge of the grave, right in front of Aunt Samantha's headstone.

David gently stroked the top of Angeline's head and kissed her forehead softly. "Will you tell me about your aunt? I wanna know my mother-in-law more."

"What do you want to know?" asked Angeline.

"Everything. I want to get to know more about the person who has been taking care of you all this time. After all, I am her son-in-law."

Angeline leaned her head on David's shoulder. "My aunt is the kindest person in the world. She is a person who makes me feel full of love. Even I already think of her like my own biological mother. Maybe because she has no children, that's why she loves me so much. Every day she always wakes me up gently. When I wanted to go to school. The smell of her butter bread on the table every morning I can remember very clearly. Whenever I feel sad about something, Aunt Samantha can always make me smile again. And when I feel good, Aunt Samantha will also feel good for myself too. Even her love makes me never feel sad because of the loss of my biological parents. "

Angeline raised her hand and gently stroked Aunt Samantha's grave head with the palm of her hand. "Now she's gone. I just hope she will find her happiness up there."

David looked at Angeline, who was still paying attention to her aunt's grave headstone.

In his heart, he vowed to give Angeline even more love and affection than Aunt Samantha. David's gaze really showed his feelings very clearly for Angeline, making a blonde haired woman who stood quite far from where David and Angeline were shed tears.

Ainsley, that woman has been following David's movements for a long time without he even knowing it.

Ainsley wiped her tears with her own hands, took out her cellphone and punched a combination of numbers that became someone's number before putting the screen of her cellphone to her ear.

"Hey stinky bitch, about the alliance you said back then, I want to join." she said to a woman across the communication line.

The woman who Ainsley called 'stinky bitch' smiled broadly. She also rubbed the black rose tattoo that was under her back neck gently with her own fingers after Ainsley cut the connection with her.

The woman with the black rose tattoo laughed in a shrill voice that gave anyone who heard it goosebumps. "Wait for me, my dear David. In a little while, I will come to you, and repay what you have done to me a million times over."

Yes.

This woman was the woman who had held a grudge against David for a very long time.

The same woman who put a bouquet of black roses on David's apartment bed on his wedding day with Angeline.

The woman who sent a sniper to kill David while David was on his honeymoon with Angeline.

The woman who formed an alliance with the three great former generals of the mafia syndicate Hendrick Brasco, and did not get the slightest rejection from them.

And that woman has also invited Ainsley to join the alliance she made with the three former great general of the Hendrick Brasco mafia syndicate.

Nobody knows what the woman is up to.. However, Ainsley has been persuaded by her, by showing that now, David, someone who has always been loved by Ainsley for all this time, the man who had been her purpose for living her life again, has someone else who has won him over.
