Dave and Jean arrived in front of Jean's house. Jean got off first followed by Dave who then turned off the engine and pulled out the key. Dave put the helmets he and Jean were wearing on the hanger on his motorbike, then followed Jean's steps.
Dave banged on the gate very hard with his fist which made a security guard open the fence and was shocked when he saw Jean come with Dave. "Hey kid, what did you do to the young lady? Why did you guys get together—"
"Fuck off." said Dave as he pushed the security guard aside very hard and roughly then walked quickly toward the house, holding Jean's wrist.
Dave also knocked hard on Jean's front door until her household assistant opened the door. Her friendly face was quite familiar, because Dave had met her when Dave visited Jean's house for the first time at that time.
"Young lady? Did you go out? Why didn't I notice when you go out?"
Dave nodded politely and pulled Jean's hand into the house. As a result of the loud banging sound of Dave on the door of the house, Jean's parents woke up.
Dave, Jean, and Jean's parents are now looking at each other in the living room, with Dave's eyes are very intense.
Dave turned to Jean. "Take your things, just as necessary. Don't bring too many things, and don't forget your school uniform."
Jean nodded at Dave's orders and immediately ran upstairs, bursting into her room at an extremely fast pace. From the top of her wardrobe, Jean took a suitcase and started packing her clothes.
"What do you mean breaking into people's houses at night like this? And also, what did you do to my daughter? You want me to report you to the police?"
Dave just stared silently at Jean's father who was asking him that for a few moments. Dave still didn't lower the intensity of his gaze. And also, from the way Dave stood and stared at the man, it seemed that it was implied that Dave could beat up the man in front of him whenever he wanted without caring the slightest bit about the consequences.
"Now I ask you. Is it true that you say that you feel ashamed to have raised a child like Jean?"
Edward smiled at Dave. Edward's smile really made Dave even more eager to punch him in the face as hard as he could. "So Jean complained to you about it? That insolent kid! Then, if I did say something like that, what would you do?"
The security guard who was in charge of maintaining the security of this house entered and tried to drag Dave out, Dave twisted the hand of the security officer who was trying to drive him away and his body was kicked so hard that he fell to the floor. The security guard got up and took out his iron bat, preparing to beat Dave up.
Dave didn't show the slightest bit of fear. He looked straight at the security guard, "Where do you live?"
Of course, Dave's question made the security guard confused. What was Dave asking that for?
"Near the Ciliwung River, why?"
"Have you ever heard of a gang called the Destroyer?"
"Yeah, I know, and know very well who they are. Why, why do you ask me that?"
Dave lifted the shirt he was wearing to chest level and turned around, showing a tattoo indicating that he was a member of a very respected gang in the area where he lived. The security guard did not seem brave enough to approach Dave after finding out that Dave was a member of the most dangerous gang, because the Destroyer also controlled the area where he currently lives. "If you don't want the area of your house to be turned into ashes, you'd better shut your fuck up."
Edward also looked at Dave full of anger. "So, you thug? You think I'm afraid of people who come from a family of sycophants like you?"
Yep, Edward said that again. Dave, in his heart, of course, really wanted to beat Edward up right now. Even Dave doesn't care if he has to kill someone tonight, because for him, anyone who insults his family, shouldn't be left alone. Moreover, this is not the first time Edward has insulted his family like that.
Dave recalled Angeline's words about him having to hold back his emotions in front of Jean's parents. If Dave doesn't remember Angeline's massage for him, maybe Dave has made the floor in the living room of this house covered with blood coming from Edward's body. Jean also walked down the stairs with a medium sized suitcase that she was carrying.
"What are you doing?" asked Edward, Jean's father who did not understand what Jean meant to bring a suitcase like that.
Jean looked back into Edward's eyes. Dave could see that Jean was trying very hard to look into her own father's eyes. "I want to get out of this house. I realized, after what you said, I realized that I was just a burden in this family. A burden for both of you. So, I decided to leave this house, and stopped being a burden for you."
"Put down that damn suitcase and go back to your room!"
Jean shook her head, her hands still tight around the trunk, and she was still trying to catch Edward's eyes. "I don't want to."
Hearing Jean's answer angered Edward even more. "Oh, so now you dare to argue with me?"
Edward walked over and looked like he wanted to slap Jean, Edward's hand was immediately held by Dave, making Edward turn to Dave. Dave pushed Edward hard enough that he took a few steps back and fell. Jean's mother who saw this immediately approached Edward, who was still slumped on the floor.
Dave turned to Jean. "Give me your wallet."
Jean obeyed Dave's request and took out her wallet and gave it to Dave. Dave examined it and took out a student card and gave it to Jean, the rest remained in the wallet. Whether it was money or some of Jean's savings cards, they were all still in the wallet.
Dave also threw Jean's wallet at Edward's body, and Jean's wallet landed on his face. "We don't need that shit."
Edward smiled very broadly. You too are Jeanice Ainsley, my useless daughter! I bet you will soon be nagging us to welcome you back into this house! In fact, you will be doing that in no more than a day! What can a useless kid who's always spoiled like you do?!"
Of course, Jean felt very hurt to hear that. Dave could see that Jean was trying really hard to be tough. And for some reason, Dave felt proud to see Jean dare to stand up and fight the injustice she was experiencing right now, with her own strength.
Jean also stepped forward until she was next to Dave. "Yes, I'm really spoiled and useless. So, I'm sorry if I just became a 'failed product' for you. Hopefully you two are happier without me. I will say goodbye first dad, mom, no need to look for me anymore, I don't want to be a burden for both of you more than this. I promise, I will live well even if not in this house ... I always love you. Both."
Jean walked away, making Dave follow her. Dave took over the suitcase carried by Jean and put it in front of his body on the motorbike while Jean sat behind him.
On the way home, Jean cried incessantly while hugging Dave's waist tightly and hiding her face in Dave's back. Dave understood how hard it was for Jean, leaving the house after hearing her father say she was just a useless kid.
Dave feels fortunate to have a mother like Angeline who loves him so much. Dave remembered that Angeline had talked about his father's wealth, David. When compared to the wealth of Jean's parents, they were still nothing to David. But with Angeline who decided to live as simply as possible, making them a simple family that was always grateful for the things around them and avoided being arrogant like Jean's parents.
This made Dave feel even more grateful to be born in his family.
Dave just hopes that Jean can feel at home living in his house, with all the simplicity that is there. At the very least, Angeline was willing to accept Jean, so it wouldn't be a problem for Dave if Jean wanted to stay at his house.
Remembering that, made Dave think about his father again. David has awakened from his coma, and in a little bit, Dave will have the opportunity to meet the father he has been missing all the time.
Dave hoped that David would accept Jean, just as Angeline would.
Maybe not that. There was one more important thing that he had to think about.
Dave hopes that David can accept him as a child, considering that he himself has grown into someone who could be said to have been a trash in society.
Even though Angeline had said that David could not possibly care about it, because all David cared about was Dave living as a happy child, but Dave still thought about it.
Dave just hope that what he was afraid of doesn't really happen.
