125 Following the trail

Marshal is watching the woman at the bar. She is very athletic and attractive. Her short brown hair draws attention to her swanlike neck. She is reserved and quiet very precise in her movements. She is taller than most girls and has an aura about her that says don't mess with me. She is just hanging around not really talking to anyone . He was a little star stuck when Yona first introduced them. He gives Jasmine a nod towards the door. She looks out of the corner of her eye to see who it is.

Terry walks in and orders a beer . Marshal poured the sheriff a beer and hands it to him. He seems agitated not his usual laid back self. He nervously takes the beer and looks around the bar. In the dim light it takes him a few seconds to find who he is looking for. He is meeting with a few friends from high school. They have grabbed a table in the corner for more privacy. Jasmine remembers seeing Terry earlier with Dean when she as following him,so she walks over towards the booth next to them. Taking note of the men he is sitting with . They all look like they are professionals in some way. Pretending to drop her purse she places a small listening device under the table. Sitting down putting her earphones in she opens the app on her phone to listen in .

"So Terry how are you going to handle the Remi case?You know that the Mayor is going to make you cover it up. He has already call my office a few times asking if any charges have been brought up. "

She smirks thinking to herself he must be a prosecutor or a judge.

"Tell me about it you know how hard it is for me to have Aisling's family and the Mayor giving me grief. At least with Aisling's family I can side step and delay . They even asked for protection for Remi . Luckily the Chief said no so I just told them my hands were tied. "

Terry grabs his beer and drinks it down in one go.

" So what is going to happen?" the guy right behind her asks

Terry looks at them and grins.

"we all know Remi won't talk and Sasha gave him and alibi so it's basically I do a little work and tell them we got nothing. Though I hate to deceive friends like that but we all know why we have to protect him."

"Yeah thanks to the stupidest thing we ever did. You know we may have teased Remi a little in high school. None of us knew he would do that to her. We should have said something when it happened. We were so scared and then the Mayor promising to pay for all of us to go to college. My father told me we could not change anything so just to take the money and keep our mouths shut." He takes his fingers through his hair in frustration. They all know they did wrong but they were just kids when that happened. Now they are adults and two are officers.one is an attorney and a prosecutor.

finally the last guy speaks up.

"you know that you could just quietly hand the evidence over to the state police and let them investigate . or even contact your friend from the FBI . " Terry looks at him and punches him on the arm.

"I already thought of that , To do that will raise questions . The only answers I would have would to spill the beans on everything. My only hope is that the Chief will close it and then my hands are tied I won't be able to do anything. I don't understand why he has to hurt them so much. You know Aisling and Remi are the only two he beats. Mostly Remi though he doesn't touch any other women."

The prosecutor looks at his friends none of them agree with what happened and want to set it right but it to late now . He bowed his head in shame and told them why.

"That's because he had a thing for Aisling and she turned him down . After he nearly killed her she never gave herself a chance to be alone with him again. When Remi got older her personality was similar to Aisling's so he tried to substitute Aisling with her. When she refused well we know what happened. When I found out that she was pregnant I tried to help but she shut me down every time. She even let people treat her badly instead of turning Dean in. I guess she believed him when he said he would kill her family. I'm just glad Dean has never bothered the child. Maybe he believed the rumors I spread to cover up the fact that he is her father. We all know Remi was a virgin when he did that to her. "

When the waitress delivers them more drinks . Terry's phone rings it's the Mayor . You can hear him yelling through the phone . Terry looks at his companions and starts to laugh.

"I have to be drunk already . The Mayor says that I need to fabricate some evidence. That both Sasha and Dean was arrested at the hospital , for trying to do something to Remi. Get this though it looks like The commander's wife took him out. Hold on I need to call my contact at state to get the details." He dialed the number of the Sargent at the state troopers station. putting him on speaker so everyone can hear.

" hey Sargent, I heard there was a ruckus over at the hospital?" The Sargent begins to laugh at the question.

"Oh boy , did you miss a show. According to my guys they were in the security office viewing some tapes. Turns out the head nurse was Feeding the perp information about the victim. When the fire alarm went off. They saw that it was coming from the ICU unit . So they rushed to help the victims Uncle told my guys it was a signal there was no fire. So they covered all the exits and moved in. Now here comes the funny part. It turns out that this sixty something old lady took him out. According to my boys statements , he was knocked out on the floor with her sitting on him talking on the phone with her husband. Her husband is a high ranking military guy so he pulled some strings to make sure this was being investigated properly. They say that the Mayor demanded her to be turned over , but my guys told him for what she was defending herself. The guy needed twenty six stitches between his leg and face. The evidence is solid he is going down for attempted murder." Terry hanged up and looks at the others . The four of them are in shock then the other officer speaks up.

"I think we should come clean about before.

We all know how Dean is . If he can push blame somewhere he will. If they bring up the incident from before he could try to blame us. I think we should give the evidence to them. I mean we all can lose everything if he twists it just right. It's the right thing to do."

They all agree if approached about the

incident in high school they will come clean.

they pay their bill and leave Jasmine looks at them as they leave. Thinking to herself that at least these guys have a little bit of regret over not standing up for what's right. Waving at Marshal she leaves to go back to the house to tell them what she found out. This is an easy case. She doesn't understand why Yona needed them . He normally can take care of small things himself.

Once back at the house Jasmine meets up with Will and Yona . He Jin ,Astila and Steve join them to keep updated. Jasmine plays the recording for them. Watching their shocked faces she knows they never suspected the sheriff. Yona quickly stands up and begins to pace. Jasmine knows he is about to lose his cool. With the state he is in Astila knows that nothing is going to stop him from trying to bury Terry now.

"You told me to trust him ,that he was a good guy. You call that a good guy. He was there when she was hurt and left like a piece of garbage. Then even when she was in so much pain she stopped talking completely he never came clean. How can he look at her and not feel guilt. These men need to pay for helping that scum. "The anguish in his voice is clear, turning to Will and Jasmine gives them a job.

"I don't care what resources you need to use you get me what I need to bury them. They deserve nothing less than what pain they have caused her. She deserves justice so does Aisling." Slamming out of the room making everyone jump in surprise. Astila stares at the closed door for a few seconds in surprise. His brother never loses his temper, so he has no idea what is going to happen next.
