"It's not that we hate you, we do love you we just can't get past that your father was a bastard." Joseph tells Aisling.
"Explain to me exactly how was that my fathers fault. He did not tell your mother to sleep with some guy and get pregnant with him. He did not ask to be abused his entire life and then be blamed and called worthless. My father became what he was because of how he was raised and treated. I'm have never allowed my children around you before because I never wanted the poisonous negativity you put out around them. I only wanted to try one more time so that they would know their whole family. I cannot imagine how someone could blame their brother for something their parents did. I am going to ask you to be kind to my children today because most likely it will be the last day you will ever see them. " Aisling tells her uncle as she turns to go back to camp. Her Aunt had listened to every word and she was sad but did not know how to explain . Her father always made a point of telling them that to be nice to their brother was to betray him. How could they betray their father. The two siblings look at each other and decide to enjoy their time with the children. They head back to camp behind Aisling. When they arrive back all of the tents have been set up and the children are getting wood for the fire pit. Joseph is amazed at how well they all work together. They notice that Yona and Crystal are playing around while cutting vegetables for lunch. Joseph goes over and offers to help.
"Dad I will leave you two to take care of this. I will go check on the twins." Crystal shoots Joseph a glaring look.
"I guess she doesn't like me much." Joseph says under his breath.
"It's not that , it's that she knows how Aisling and her siblings feel. Aunt Norma used to tell them stories of her family especially Aisling's father. They loved her a great deal, she treated them all as family even if they were not blood related. None of the children know anything about your side of the family except for her. Aisling loves her whole family but refuses to be around anyone who does not live her back. She wanted to give her children a chance to meet you all nothing more. " Yona tells Joseph as he picks up the vegetables to take to the pot . Joseph goes to find Astila. He wants to talk to Aisling's husband . Finding him near the river. They are setting up a large tipi style structure with a fire pit in the center. Wondering what they are doing he goes over.
"What kind of dwelling is this? Joseph asks.
"We are setting up a sweat lodge. Aisling wants one near the water. " Astila tells Aisling's Uncle without exactly explaining why.
"Oh , do you mind if we have a chat?" Joseph asks Astila.
the two men go and sit near the river.
Astila watched the man walk away seeing the sadness in hid eyes. Sighing Astila follows behind him. The meal is lively and the children are asking lots of questions about their family . After the meal is over Aisling's Aunt and Uncle leaves. They decide to fish and prepare for Aisling's journey. Aisling has fasted since the day before to get ready for her journey . Around sunset she is ready to enter the sweat lodge. It will be just her and Onacona inside. The others will take turns watching over them from outside of the sweat lodge. Onacona helps Aisling enter a trance to start her journey. It doesn't take long for Aisling to be in her trance. She is sitting on a high mountain over looking a primitive looking town. Hearing a wolf growl she turns to see. There standing in front of her is a large white wolf. It bows its head at her then turns waiting for her to follow. Aisling stands as follows the wolf down the mountain. She hears a woman singing following the wolf to just outside of the town to the edge of the river. There sits an old woman.
"Come child, sit with me. You have many questions about the past and the future. I can only tell you so much. " the woman waits for her to sit with her.
"You have a deep wound in your heart one that will not heal. It's because of your fathers family. Do not hate them to much because the man you called grandfather was a hard man. One who could not get past what he thought of as a betrayal. You see he grew up in a house where his father had not just his mother but his mistress as well. His father was a strict and hateful man. He taught him that women were to be loyal and pure to be worthy of marriage. So when he found out your grandmother was pregnant he could not accept your father. To do so would mean he accepted and forgave your grandmother's betrayal. The problem he had was that he only wanted your grandmother as his wife. In his fathers eyes she could only be a mistress. He refused to make her his mistress it was marriage or nothing. So to get his fathers blessing your Grandmother could not keep your father and be with the man she loved. So I raised him as mine. That way he would still have his mother. Though it was a hard life he still loved deeply. He loved you and your siblings more than you ever could know. Your grandfather loved you as well. He just did not know how to lower his pride. Now about what is to come. The fallen one you are to face is not going to be what you think. Yes he is what some would call evil, but you are not meant to defeat him. You are only meant to bring back balance. You see when the creator made us he gave us the freedom of choice and free will. He relished in the worship and praise we gave him voluntarily. Though there is a dark side to our free will. Due to this he gave his attention to us humans more than to those he had already created. He began to neglect them and started using them to bring his intentions and words to humans. They became resentful and began to influence humans. That when a war broke out between the ones who followed the creator and those who wanted things to go back as they were. So the father cast out those that could not get past their jealousy. Their purpose is to be the dark side of humans while the father is the light. You cannot have light without there being darkness. So do not hold onto the hurt you have as it will cause a darkness inside you one that the light will eventually not be able to vanquish. Do not worry about the future to much for the father will not allow a fallen one to cause your death or the death of those you love. You are the alpha wolf and must lead the others by your heart. Do not waver or compromise your unconditional love for others. It is what keeps your heart pure. Remember you are the alpha and you can restore the balance and put the darkness back where it belongs. Go now and enjoy your family in this place . The time for you to show your strength is coming . " the old woman gets up and motions for the wolf to follow. As they disappear the heaviness of Aisling's heart is eased. She no longer is so resentful of her grandfather as she now knows that he was not given unconditional love so he did not know how to give it. She turns and see a light shinning brightly guiding her path back to reality. Walking on that path she remembers the old woman's words. These words give her peace and courage for what is next.
