Chapter 21 The Truth? A Lie?
It was raining cats and dogs outside the cafe.
“You can’t give me a reason? I’ll explain it for you.” Under the dim lights, Qin Yue’s expression was extremely cold. “Because our family is too powerful, so powerful that the government is afraid of us. They want to find a reasonable reason to make us disappear completely, so they chose your family to do this.”
Kan Chen’s expression became ugly. “Who told you this? Was it Xiao Yu?”
“So, as long as I marry you, your family will remove the existence of my family, right?” The panic on his face made Qin Yue’s heart ache.
“Qin Yue, you have to believe me. This won’t happen! The few of you, bring that b*stard Xiao Yu back!” Kan Chen ran after Qin Yue, who had rushed out of the door, and anxiously ordered his bodyguards.
“Answer me, is that the truth?” Qin Yue hammered his chest, her tears mixing with the rain.
Kan Chen stood in the rain and hugged Qin Yue tightly, allowing her to hit him until the bodyguards caught Xiao Yu.
He handed Qin Yue to a bodyguard and grabbed Xiao Yu’s collar. “Give me the files you have!”
Qin Yue was restrained by the bodyguards, and she sobbed as she struggled against them. She looked at Xiao Yu’s terrified hands, which were crossed in front of his chest, and he was extremely resistant. Kan Chen punched Xiao Yu’s nose, and the latter held his bleeding nose and wailed.
Kan Chen’s eyes were terrifyingly bloodshot. He gritted his teeth as he punched and kicked the fallen Xiao Yu.
Originally, Xiao Yu was hugging his head and wailing, but he suddenly took out a dagger and rushed towards Kan Chen!
“Kan Chen!” Qin Yue instinctively called out to him, and saw that he was bleeding from his abdomen. Xiao Yu took the opportunity to escape.
“Don’t worry about me! Chase after him!” Kan Chen held his stomach and asked the bodyguards to chase after Xiao Yu. Qin Yue’s trembling hand covered the wound on Kan Chen’s stomach.
Kan Chen had lost too much blood and fell to the ground. He held Qin Yue’s hand and pulled her away. “Trust me… Please… Trust me… I’ll protect you.”
Qin Yue cried and shouted for help, as she waited for the ambulance to arrive.
In the hospital, Kan Chen lay on the hospital bed and held onto Qin Yue’s hand tightly. The doctor told her that the wound on his body wasn’t deep, and since he was sent to the hospital in time, the injury wasn’t too serious.
Kan Chen’s butler also handed the documents on Xiao Yu to Qin Yue. “Mr. Kan, Miss Qin, we have already checked the contents of the document according to the serial number, and we have confirmed that the document is fake. When Mr. Xiao was escaping, he got into an accident and is now in a coma. He is currently being treated in the hospital. Should we sue him?”
Qin Yue took the document from the butler’s hand and carefully read the contents. The document was soaked in rain, and it became blurry.
Was the document fake?
Qin Yue noted down the document number in her mind.
“He’s just a rat. Don’t worry about it.” Kan Chen sighed.
Qin Yue found a quiet place to contact Li Mo, and sent the document number to him, asking him to help investigate the document. A few minutes later, Li Mo sent the document’s contents to Qin Yue.
“The serial number doesn’t match the contents of the document. This is indeed a forged document, but it looks quite genuine. Isn’t Xiao Yu afraid of being exposed for lying to you with a fake document? Where is Xiao Yu now?” Li Mo voiced his doubts over the phone.
“I heard that there was a car accident, and he’s unconscious now. Perhaps he just wanted me to leave Kan Chen.”
After hanging up, Qin Yue dispelled her doubts, but the seeds of doubt had already been planted in her heart.
In the ward, Kan Chen’s butler was whispering in Kan Chen’s ear, advising Kan Chen to get rid of Xiao Yu.
Kan Chen tore the document apart and shook his head. “There’s no hurry. Keep him alive for now. He’s still useful.”
