67 Chapter 67: He didn't recognize?

Freya was lost in her world of agony when she felt her cold body being embraced in warmth. The sensation left her yearning for more as it reminded her of the warmth she once had in her life.

She seized onto warmth tightly as if scared that she will lose it again. She buried her head deeply and inhaled his scent which gradually calmed her mind and making her relax.

Freya could feel his hands wrap around her tightly and alleviate her pain. He was even whispering something in her ears which she couldn't hear completely in her daze state. When she felt those pairs of warm hands hug her tightly, she didn't resist rather returned the hug.

Freya found a comfortable spot within those arms and sighed in relief. She was rejoicing in his warmth as if his arms were made just for her. She could feel his hand saunter from her back towards her hair and pat gently.

Intuitively, she smiled as she indulged in those happy memories. The laughter..... comfort.... happiness... and the distant call still rung by her ears, "Freya" which brought tears to her eyes.

She smiled happily when she felt something wet on her neck.

In her memory, Freya watched as the person carry her younger self to this beautiful place for the first time. She remembered being stunned by the beauty and gaping at the place making him smile. His lips curled up as he asked her dotingly amidst these beautiful white flowers, "Do you know why I call you Freya?"

Hazel turned to him and pouted her pink lips. The person laughed as he said, "I don't get why you hate that name."

"Because it feels like you hate my name."

He kissed her forehead as he said with his eyes full of love, " Freya means goddess of love and beauty, and Hazel was given to you because of your beautiful hair."

He caught her strand and played with it. He looked down at her and smiled with indulgence.

Her heart winced slightly hearing the laugh she had always wanted to hear desperately for the past few years. She wanted to dive into his arms and cry out, 'Come back... I can't do this without you.'

She wiped her tears as she listened to his explanation.

"You have two names because one name doesn't do justice"

" To your beautiful self."

" To your beautiful self."

Freya closed her eyes in sadness as she said the last four words along with him.

She burst out crying as she couldn't keep listening to those sweet words. She wanted to stay here permanently with her memories and never face reality. She would give anything to go back to this day and change the past.

But Alas, some things can never be reversed.

Hazel giggled, " Such a sweet talker." Freya laughed along agreeing with her younger self with tears trickling down her face.

Freya reached out to hold his hand naturally but her smile froze when her hand passed right through his palm. She clenched her hand tightly as she watched her younger self grasp his hand and chuckle bashfully, disappearing into those white flowers.

'How she wished she could hold that hand forever'

Freya smiled softly in Usui's arms as she revisited those memories. Usui could feel his shirt moisten. He felt like someone had pierced his chest and got hold of his heart firmly. He didn't know what he could do other than comfort her softly with his words. Impulsively, he kissed her neck and trailed kisses to her hair.

Her eyebrows furrowed slightly and a chuckle escaped her lips when she felt those wet sensations travel from her neck to her forehead. She wanted to stay in his arms forever, surrounded by the warmth. She didn't want to return to her life of darkness and pain.

But

Reality crashed down on her when she heard a low shout, "Woah! How did things turn out like this?"

Freya opened her eyes in shock and found that she was in a very different place. The view in front of her made her eyes moisten at the damage to this beautiful place which held fond memories.

Dead bodies all over the place, red flowers glaring at her, leaves coated in blood.

Her eyes trembled as she remembered each incident one by one starting from Usui to the gruesome killing.

'The dagger!'

Startled she let go of Usui immediately and turned to search for it desperately.

Studying her silent desperate screaming of help, Usui couldn't help but say, "It's behind you."

He knew what she was looking for. It was obvious.

Instantly Hazel turned back and saw the dagger lying on the ground, covered in blood. She crawled herself over to the dagger and held it in her arms carefully.

Her heart soothed down at once when the dagger returned to her arms.

She closed her eyes as she sighed in relief. Soon, her face frowned when she noticed the silent atmosphere around her.

She raised her eyes to find her friends stare at her absurdly. Her world stopped when she realized Usui was with her during the fight. Her hand on the dagger stiffened as she robotically turned towards Usui who was watching her solemnly.

Freya's eyes widened as her eyes shifted to his shirt which was now wet.

'W-was that my tears?'

She touched her face which was still wet in shock. 'Did she just cry in front of him?'

She closed her eyes in embarrassment chiding herself mentally. She peeked at him and found his gaze on her dagger. Her hands tightened as she closed her eyes in regret.

'He knows!'

She wiped her tears and tried to stand up. Her feet were numb so she staggered a little but Jinha caught her. A cloak fell over her head surprising her. She gripped it and turned to stare at Zeno walking over in his white shirt towards the dead body she brutally murdered.

Jinha whispered and hugged her tightly, "I'm sorry for being late."

And she felt the same wet sensation on her forehead.

Stunned, her hands slowly wandered to her forehead and touched the spot where he kissed her. She brought her fingers to her eyes and stared blankly before her eyes shifted to the person in front of her who was staring daggers at Jinha.

Those... were kisses?!

Did he kiss me? Again?!

Usui exhaled before turning to look at those emerald eyes who was staring at him confusedly.

'Should he ask her?'

'Should he let her know that he grasped the truth?'

Looking at her, he could presume that she wanted her identity to be concealed. She didn't want him to know about Freya. His heart ached when he realized that she did everything to stay away from him.

But he was also happy grasping that he loved the same person and not two people. He wasn't a reckless guy like he thought he was.

Since she didn't want him to know, Usui gazed at her doubtfully and asked, "Why do you have Freya's dagger?"

Hearing this made Freya relax visibly. He saw her tensed shoulders droop slightly as her body leaned fully against Jinha.

She didn't want him to know! The realization made his smile strained.

He heard her say, "She handed it to me before she went to do her mission."

Even though he knew she was lying, he couldn't help but clench his fist tightly.

"Mission?"

Hazel nodded, "Personal vendetta."

Usui could see the hatred burning behind those beautiful pair of eyes. He frowned when he remembered how lost she looked when she fought with that guy.

Freya calmed her heart down when she realized that he didn't doubt her identity. She didn't even use her lightning ability, so he wouldn't connect these two right?

Even though it was hard to believe in his words, she wanted to believe in them badly.

She turned towards Jinha who was studying Usui deeply. Feeling her gaze, his eyes drifted back to her and centered on her. He could see the confusion, pain, anger all hidden deep inside those beautiful orbs.

So he said appeasing her, "Don't worry, we will look into this more and annihilate the rest."

She gripped his arm which was around the shoulder as her eyes held a glint of determination.

Suddenly a hand gripped hers followed along with a worried voice, "F- Hazel, are you alright?"

Freya patted her hand comforting Liz who gripped her hand hard. Liz couldn't forget the image she saw when she reached here.

Freya nodded her head silently answering her question. Hak wrapped his arm around Liz's shoulder and said, "You did a great job in informing us, even though we arrived late."

Usui intervened and asked, "Inform? How did we inform you guys?"

Looking at Usui who was staring at them confusedly. Hazel took out her dagger and showed him the hilt which had a small crystal in it.

"The crystal acts as a button. On pressing it, it sends out an emergency signal along with my location to my friends and family. I had pressed it when they ambushed us."

Usui nodded his head in understanding.

Zeno pushed his glasses and pointed out, "Even though we were late, it was good to know that it works well."

Hazel smiled as she nodded at their words.

Zeno marked, "I will let Issac know."

Issac was the youngest master who is assigned to the weaponry division in their kingdom. Even though most of his inventions end up getting thrown out, the ones he managed to succeed were one of a kind similar to the button he wanted Freya to try.

Hak smiled, "He would be thrilled to know that you tried his invention, finally."

Freya smiled, " Desperate situations call out for desperate measures."

Jinha tightened his hold on her shoulders and said thoughtfully, "Let's leave."

It was like a silent agreement among them that they refused to ask her about what happened here.

Why they were hugging each other when they arrived? Why did she reveal her identity? And, why she was crying?

Hazel turned to Jinha who had a stern look in his eyes. She bit her lips as she agreed with his decision. She could feel the tiredness seep into her bones. Even though she wasn't injured gravely, she was mentally drained.

Usui frowned when he saw them leave without glancing at him. He didn't know why but the way Jinha acted around Hazel was pushing his boundaries. He didn't like it when he acted all chummy with his woman.

Carelessly, he called out to her, "Freya, Can we talk?"

And, he saw her freeze in her steps.

Ha! That's it!

He screwed up.
