101 Chapter 101 : I only need you

Rushed footsteps echoed inside the hall as Jinha tried to catch up with the speed walking girl.

Jinha heaved, "Hazel, stop"

Hazel stopped in her tracks as she exhaled exasperatedly. She turned around and saw Jinha running towards her.

She sighed, "Let me be alone, Jinha. I'm tired."

Jinha stopped in front of her and panted heavily.

"You really should know to stop when someone calls your name."

Hazel smiled before she turned around to tread forward.

"Every time someone yells my name, it doesn't always end well."

Jinha nodded his head in understanding as he followed her towards the stairs. But he soon said, "The last time I left you alone as you asked, you ended up as a mess."

Hazel chuckled at his statement. True, the last time was pretty bad but soon her chuckle faded when she remembered her state years ago.

Jinha knew what she was thinking but before he could soothe her. He saw her shake her head before descending the stairs. Jinha watched her climb down from above and sighed sadly.

He glanced back towards the room and saw the rest of the thunder squad members popping their heads out from the door. They gestured him to follow her as they knew only he can console Hazel. He sent a thumbs up before he jogged to catch up with her.

Their footsteps echoed inside the building, separated by an inch. Jinha had his eyes on her, who was walking down with her mind lost in the clouds. They continued to walk in silence until Jinha decided to ask.

"Are you okay?"

Hazel paused for few seconds midway on her stride but continued to move forward as nothing happened.

"What are you referring to?"

Jinha groaned, "Are you okay with what he said?"

Hazel refused to comment on his question as her mind drifted to what he said at last.

'My heart was stolen from me before I came here'

She snorted at his choice of words.

She thought wryly, 'Same... Did he intend to take his revenge through this way?'

She remembered looking at him coldly and say, "It was good that you realized it before you made a huge mistake."

She saw how his eyes narrowed at her and how his hands clenched together making his veins protrude. She couldn't afford to soften her heart towards him lest he thinks it was all a facade.

Hazel turned around at the next corner intending to ignore her little stalker but she rolled her eyes when the stalker caught hold of her hand and said angrily, "Don't ignore me, Hazel."

Hazel looked at him and said, "I wasn't. Just leave me alone now, okay? I will answer your questions later."

Jinha tightened his hold on her as he said, "I didn't ask you before because I knew you needed time."

She slowly shifted her eyes to the open window beside the stairs and said, " If all you wanted to know was whether I was alright?" She paused her words before looking at him and said seriously, "I am alright. There wasn't anything that could affect me in the first place."

Jinha looked into her eyes searching for anything that could deny her words. But Alas! nothing was there... it was blank just like her face...indifferent.

"That wasn't all I wanted to know though."

Hazel furrowed her brows as she inquired him silently. Then she heard him ask, "What happened earlier?"

Hazel pursed her lips as she turned her head away from him. She tried tugging her hand out but Jinha refused to let go.

Hazel exhaled heavily, "Nothing happened, Jinha. Why are you worrying so much?"

He insisted, "Tell me, Freya" He knew she was hiding something when she tries to change topics.

"I just told him that it's impossible between us."

Jinha narrowed his eyes doubtfully, "That's all? Are you sure? Because it didn't seem like that way."

Hazel shrugged as if she didn't care, "Yes, Jinha. I'm sure, it is not exactly my fault if he couldn't take the rejection well."

She muttered under her breath, "This was why I told him earlier to not fall in love with me."

Jinha's eyes softened looking at her aggrieved face. He let go of her hands and caressed her cheeks as he murmured, "It was too late then, Princess."

Hazel nodded her head as she closed her eyes. She opened them suddenly when she heard him whisper, "Are you sure nothing can happen between you guys?"

Hazel stared into his eyes, her eyes a mixture of pain and sadness. She lowered her gaze as she leaned her face into his chest, "It will never happen, Jinha. I won't fall in love with him. Ever."

Jinha sighed as he looked down at the figure burying her head in his chest. He wrapped his arms around her as he murmured, "I hope you know what you are doing, Freya. Don't ruin your present with what happened in the past."

Hazel clenched his shirt tightly as she mumbled in his chest, "I do. Don't worry, Jinha. I only need you and the rest with me."

.....

Some distance away from the two people hugging, Usui stood behind the wall with his eyes closed. His entire frame oozed pain and anger. He had regretted saying all that to her face and had wanted to apologize but her words only made him angrier.

'I only need you'

'I won't fall in love with him ever.'

He didn't know why but those painful words echoed inside his mind. His heart was twisting painfully inside his chest as he tried to forget those words.

He punched the wall angrily as his eyes glanced at them hugging each other.

'Why, Freya? Am I not good enough for you? Must it be him?'

His anguished cries were swallowed by the emptiness and silence around him just like how his heart was now empty.

Remembering back to what happened earlier, he clenched his fist as he wished desperately to go back time and stop the incident from happening again.

He had lost her. He had lost something precious.
