136 Chapter 136: You are my treasure

Hezekiah nodded as he softly caressed her cheek hiding his pain. But this composure broke when he felt another attack on his back. He grimaced in pain making Hazel clutch her brother's robe in panic.

Hezekiah gritted his teeth to stop the building groan before he pushed Hazel towards the shelf.

"Go...Stand there, Freya"

Hazel felt herself being shoved before she could protest. She clammed her mouth shut when she saw his warning through his eyes. Hazel moved back as he wanted and watched her brother turn towards the intruders.

Hazel gasped suddenly when she saw the extent of his injuries. There was a deep cross gash on his back which drenched his shirt in blood. She covered her mouth as tears streamed down her cheeks.

Hearing her gasp, Hezekiah glanced at her smiling stiffly and advised, "Freya, close your eyes for me."

Hazel shook her head vigorously.

His face smoldered, "I don't want you to see this."

Seeing that she had no intention of closing her eyes, Hezekiah was about to persuade her when he felt two figures out of the corner of his eye leap towards him. Instantly his fury leaps out of his small cage as he whipped his hand towards them.

The force of his attack sent the two people flying towards the wall, crashing and falling along with some things noisily on the floor. He looked back at her and snapped his fingers. Instantly a protective blue fire circled Hazel making him sigh in relief.

He turned to the crowd and addressed coldly, "How gutsy of you guys to try to harm my sister!"

He then smirked evilly, "I should at least pay it back with interest, right?"

He unsheathed his sword and attacked them. Five of them against one but Hezekiah was keeping up with the attacks even with his injury. The five assassins instantly narrowed their eyes when they understood that they wouldn't win the fight. They were being pushed back by this wounded Prince.

Hezekiah leaped back and aimed his fire roar at one of the guys who was burned severely and later succumbed to death. The others watched the Prince's attack and clenched their swords.

The lightning flashed inside the room as Hezekiah calmly observed the rest of his enemies. While Hazel was in shock.

She never thought her warm brother, the one who indulged her in everything can have an opposite face in battle. This was the Crown Prince of the Crystal Kingdom, the one who lead their armies to victory, the one who was feared by all.

And yet, her brother was harmed, wounded because of her. His only Achilles heel. Hazel bit the insides of her cheek as she wiped the tears away roughly. She didn't care, she wanted to help him but when she moved forward, the blue circle glowed brightly and a wall was formed, halting her from stepping out.

He turned back and stopped his body from giving away his state. He could feel the blood drain from his body from the wounds. He gripped the sword tight to stop himself from swaying and thereby giving them a leeway.

He gritted his teeth when he saw the leader leap towards him. His sword clashed with his but he could feel his grip loosen slightly.

'Damn it'

He mustered his fire to wrap around his sword before he exchanged blows with Zegar.

Hazel clutched her face in worry when she saw the amount of blood pooling around his body. She felt the wall in front of her weaken making her look at Hezekiah in panic.

'Was he losing?'

She looked at herself and cursed, 'Why wasn't I strong?'

'Why was my brother alone there fighting to save my life?'

'Why is he doing it when it's all my fault?'

Hezekiah gritted his teeth when he felt his vision blur. He knew he should finish this in the next two blows. But suddenly a scream startled him that he turned towards Hazel ignoring everything.

Hezekiah glanced at her sister who was held by one of the guys with his sword at her white neck. He glared at Hezekiah, "Put it down"

Hezekiah looked at her sister who was reduced into a puddle of tears and his heart softened. He didn't want her to see this side of the world and yet, she witnessed it.

Hezekiah let go of his sword and the sword fell on the ground in a loud clank. In the next moment, everything happened in a split second.

Hezekiah willed his fire circle to heighten and burn the guy. But he coughed out a mouthful of blood suddenly stopping his attack. He glanced down and saw the tip of the bloodied sword sticking out of his chest. Hazel screeched when she saw her brother stagger slightly.

Her eyes widened in horror when she saw the person behind the initiative when Hezekiah swayed. Audrey stood there with splashes of blood on her face as she withdrew the sword from his body letting more blood gush out.

Audrey gazed at Hazel before pursing her lips and turning away from her. She splashed the blood on the sword against the floor where long blood marks appeared.

Hazel slipped to the floor devastated when she saw her brother fall. She could see her brother trying to get up and give up his effort. She wanted to tell him to stay...don't move but she couldn't find her voice.

Hezekiah looked up and saw his sister crying making his heart wince. He wanted to tell her he was fine but he couldn't move. The last strike was too much for his weak body. But his face paled when he saw the guy who held her neck before stand up and smirk at him. He watched him approach Hazel who was oblivious to the danger.

His vision blurred and when he blinked and opened his eyes. The person was right there, behind her with his sword raised to stab her. He tried standing up but his body gave out as he fell flat on the floor.

Hazel upon seeing that started to crawl towards her brother when she felt her hair being tugged painfully.

The guy spoke, "Audrey, we are killing her here. We should get moving soon before the guards arrive."

Hazel zoned out on their speech as her entire focus was on her brother. She wanted to go over to him and save him. She was willing to trade her life for his for her mistakes. She shouldn't have trusted anyone.... shouldn't have been willful.

Her expression froze when she saw Audrey raise her sword to kill her brother. She didn't know what happened but Hazel suddenly screamed madly.

"NOO...DON'T YOU DARE"

A white light shone out of her body blinding everyone. Hezekiah's eyes widened for a second before a smile broke out.

Suddenly, Lightning struck through the roof at Audrey, electrocuting her severely. She staggered back towards the wall and fell on the ground. Everyone turned towards Hazel who had sparks emitting out of her body.

Lightning struck her immediately as it coursed through her body as she stood up. She screamed and the force of it made the guy tugging her hair crash against the wall. The windows burst open and the cold gust of wind immediately entered the room.

Hazel opened her eyes and raised her hand as lightning arrows filled the air surrounding her. The others glanced at her in horror but before they could make a run for it, Hazel let her hand fall and those sparks immediately rained on them.

She narrowed her eyes as she looked at them coldly. She clenched her hand into a fist as her body wrapped itself in lightning. She appeared in front of the people and slashed their heads off of their bodies. Hazel didn't pay any heed to it as blood splashed on her clothes and her face.

She only had one thought that was to avenge her brother and save him.

Right after killing them, Hazel appeared in front of Audrey and stared down at her. How did she even think of calling her, her friend? was the only thought that rose in her mind when her hand struck her chest. Just like how she attacked her brother.

Hazel watched how Audrey stared at her in shock as she coughed out blood. Hazel gritted her teeth as she ground her hand deep into her chest till she felt the bones inside her before pulling her hand out. She looked at her hand which was coated in blood before looking at the pale-faced Audrey.

Her friend... her first and last friend.

Hazel whispered, "Goodbye" and hacked her head. Even after killing her, Hazel couldn't control her inner fury. She wanted to stab their dead bodies to pieces until a voice broke through her mind.

"F-Freya"

Instantly her power disappeared as she turned to her brother lying in his pool of blood. She saw her raise his hand towards her. Her tears fell as she hurried towards him and grabbed his hand.

Hazel looked at him worriedly as she didn't know where to touch him.

"Brother- brother....so much blood...what should we do? Wait, I will call the guards over. Don't worry, I will save you."

Yet she was pulled back by his hand. Hezekiah shook his head weakly, "Don't leave"

He didn't want to die alone...at least he wanted to see his beloved sister before he closes his eyes. His sister who was reduced to tears now. He wanted to wipe her tears but he found his hand has no strength.

He looked at her and smiled sadly, "I'm sorry to break my promise yet again." He won't be able to protect her anymore.

His eyes glanced over at her bloodied hands and said dishearteningly, " I didn't want you to see this"

Hazel tightened her hold seemingly scared of losing her brother as she said, "No...no. it's my fault. I should have stayed inside the gates."

"Brother, you can ground me for a decade and I wouldn't care but please don't leave me, alright?"

Hezekiah looked at her and motioned her to let him up. Hazel carefully hoisted him up and he hugged her tightly.

"Sorry, Freya... I am going to miss a lot of things in your life now... I won't be able to see you grow into this beautiful maiden and I wouldn't be able to chase away your suitors."

"No..No... you will be able to. Just wait, okay? I will get the healer and you will be all well."

"Freya"

His voice stopped her fluster as she cried, "No... please don't leave me, brother."

"I'm sorry, Freya... I'm really sorry. Don't forget that you are my treasure and I love you."
