As was pointed out in one of the comments, the titles of nobility in the Empire may be confusing so here's a little glossary/explanation. It will be updated as per information in the novel becomes revealed.

So in order of Rank from top to Bottom. (Male/Female)
Emperor/Empress
Prince/Princess - While ranked higher in principle each descendant of the Ruler has an 'official' rank from those below which defines their ranks in official circles.
Grand Duke/Grand Duchess
Duke/Duchess
Marquis/Marchioness
Count/Countess
Viscount/Viscountess
Baron/Baroness
Baronets
Knight/Dame
For ranks among the Dragon Lords (More will come here as the story develops):-
Khan/Khanbikeh - Ruler of the Banners
Ataman - Representative of the Banners to the Khan (Both Men and Women can be an Ataman)
Yesaul/Yesaukeh - Leader of a Tribe/Clan. These are the people Imperials refer to as a Dragon Lord.@@
