The closer he was to the icebreaker, the stronger the sense of danger Qin Feng felt. Numerous ultra beasts were scrambling to reach the ship. Those that were already on board were obviously the strongest among the pack.
The fiercest battle happened all around the hull of the icebreaker. Monsters blocking the way would be engulfed instantly by the mass from behind if they did not have the corresponding strength to hold the front position.
Hu San was an S-tier aptitude user, but he did not have any advantage against the sea of ultra beasts around him.
A powerful ultra beast swung its tail and lashed right at Hu San. The attack dispersed most of the snow energy wrapping around Hu San.
Though Hu San did not immediately turn back into human form, he could barely maintain his Ice Morph now after losing a substantial amount of runes. His consciousness had probably suffered a great deal of damage too.
“Master Hu, don’t overexert yourself. Come to me!” Qin Feng delivered the message using his consciousness.
Hu San, despite wanting to reach the icebreaker on his own, recognized that he could not do it alone.
Without many choices left, he turned and approached Qin Feng instead.
Qin Feng was still busy fending off other ultra beasts with his undead puppets.
“Qin Feng, if I ever gain anything from this encounter, I will share with you 30%,” Hu San said as soon as he reached Qin Feng.
Qin Feng, baffled by the sudden offer, looked at Hu San and asked, “It seems that you know what’s hidden inside this mysterious ship?”
“Yes. I think that an inheritance is hidden somewhere in there. Besides, it can only be claimed by an ice-type ability,” Hu San did not hide the truth from Qin Feng. “I could sense that something was calling to me. If not because of the voice, I would not have risked my life going through the ultra beasts.”
Moreover, Hu San had tried his best not to depend on Qin Feng. To him, though Qin Feng was not an ice user, Hu San still viewed Qin Feng as a competitor. He did not want the young man to help him again and again. That would be unfair both to himself and to Qin Feng.
Nevertheless, reality was harsher than he thought. If Hu San insisted on boarding the ship with his own power, then he could not escape sacrificing some of his power. That way, he probably would not be at 100% power after that. Who knew what other challenges might lie ahead?
As such, Hu San admitted defeat and accepted Qin Feng’s favor. In return, he promised to compensate Qin Feng with 30% of his own gain.
“I see. An inheritance, huh!”
No wonder Hu San was the only other human around here. The old man could hardly resist the lure of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“I have no idea how dangerous the inheritance could be. No matter what, it’s too late to turn back now. I believe you can benefit from it, more or less.”
“Right.”
They did not converse much after that. Qin Feng needed to concentrate on maneuvering his puppets. This was not the proper time for a talk.
There were too many ultra beasts competing with them. Monsters that could approach the hull at this point were mostly S-tier and above. Even Qin Feng could not tell the true power of some of them.
Fortunately, while Qin Feng was hesitating earlier, the strongest group had gone up the ship first. The remaining ultra beasts still struggling by the frissure were no match for Qin Feng’s puppet legion.
Qin Feng could now get a clearer look at the ship. There was a force field wrapping around the hull. It looked less like an icebreaker close-up. It did not have a cabin on it and looked more like a giant fishing boat, which did not even have a tent.
To Qin Feng’s surprise, ultra beasts that had boarded were lined up obediently. The ship was half-full by now.
“Open!”
Qin Feng growled and the undead ultra beasts roared along with him. With one final burst, they reached the outside of the energy shield at last. His consciousness told him that he could transverse the shield but his puppets could not.
“Master Hu, after you!” Qin Feng said hastily and used his internal force to propel Hu San up to the deck.
Then, Qin Feng triggered his consciousness.
‘Explode!’
All of a sudden, the undead puppets around Qin Feng went into a chain explosion that created a massive shock wave. ultra beasts nearest to the puppet bombs were instantly reduced to dust. These included a lot of S-tier ultra beasts.
Since they could not be brought onboard, Qin Feng did not want to waste his puppets, and so he maximized their usage with one last detonation. The energy of the ultra beasts killed by the explosion was naturally imbued into Qin Feng’s body.
Then, with his consciousness, the crystal cores of all the killed ultra beasts and undead puppets were retrieved. Carcasses of the dead ultra beasts were not wasted too and were directly pulled into his spatial equipment.
After he was done, he finally lunged into the force field and landed on the deck.
There were only a few spots left on the boat. Once he stepped on the deck, an unknown force took over Qin Feng’s body. It did not hurt him but Qin Feng still subconsciously wanted to shake off the control. His act only intensified the controlling force and it vehemently guided Qin Feng to an empty spot, making him line up in an orderly fashion with other ultra beasts.
Hu San stood right in front of him. But the old master could not move his head now. At least, Hu San could sense that Qin Feng had boarded the ship after him.
Soon, after a few rounds of ferocious battles, the last few spots were filled by other ultra beasts.
The full house ship suddenly accelerated. Nonetheless, it moved steadily. They were plummeting fast into the frissure, but Qin Feng could hardly feel any turbulence.
Not only that but the force field around the ship began to emit blue light. He felt like they were traveling into a different dimension, or perhaps a different time.
A moment later, the blue light started to pervade the inside of the force field. One after another ultra beast began to disappear from his sight. Qin Feng felt the blue light run over his body. The unknown energy then entered his body and infiltrated his conscious realm.
It felt real, yet like a dream. His physique began to degenerate, and his consciousness was being emptied at the same time.
‘What’s happening to my power?’
Qin Feng was shocked and in a panic. But his body could not respond to his command. Even though he was not an S-tier yet, his power was scarier than one. However, that was still not enough to revolt against such a peculiar phenomenon.
This was when he suddenly heard a faint conscious voice. This was probably the only conscious energy that remained in him.
‘To accept the inheritance, you are only allowed to retain one ability.’
Then, the strange consciousness promptly sorted out the ability inside Qin Feng’s consciousness realm.
Dark, fire, water, earth, and wind. From abilities as simple as Dark Shadow, Fireball, to more complex abilities like barriers, etc. were listed right in front of Qin Feng’s eyes.
Other than that, his ancient arts, such as Asteroid Assimilation, Blazing Sky Sword Art, Spirit Chain Rend, and Phantom Shift, were included too.
‘Only one ability is allowed?’
Qin Feng had learned a lot of abilities since his rebirth. There were special abilities that involved rune rearrangement, while his ancient arts were pretty powerful too.
‘A powerful ability would no doubt be very useful. But it would be meaningless if I don’t have the physique and conscious energy to drive them!’
Qin Feng could tell that even his dantian had been emptied now. His consciousness was not lost completely but it was only at the level of E-tier.
The diamond starglobe was also only the size of an E-tier.
Without internal power in his dantian, Qin Feng first excluded the ancient arts. Asteroid Assimilation was cool, but Qin Feng reckoned he would not meet any ancient warriors any time soon after this.
‘If I have to retain one, there is really only one option.’
