Chapter 181. From The Other’s Perspective (2)
It was a refreshing look which was only possible on a person who had just moved for enough time to make him feel good.
And the happy tone of voice.
As if he was a teenager who enjoyed playing a virtual game, the true demon looked to be even a bit frivolous in Vulcan’s eyes.
Such facetious appearance of the true demon would make anyone else to think carelessly, but such possibility did not apply to Vulcan who had access to the system’s scanning capability.
[True demon Kaozinta]
[1428Lv]
[Characteristics: Evil, frivolousness, overflowing confidence]
[Potential: Ultimate]
* The true demon of Baumtard Dimension.
* Growing incredibly fast due to awesome physical talent.
* He is very happy for having discovered the hidden quest location for the first time.
‘He is certainly stronger than King Athildhu!’
Vulcan let out a sigh.
Of course, the level wasn’t the all telling measurement.
There were also many characteristics such as experience, expertise, adaptation ability, and others which could not be measured in numbers.
In fact, Yeo Dongbin who was only 999 Lv demonstrated more strength than Lex Louvre who had been cursed and went over 1,000 Lv by hyper doping in Act 2.
However, he did not think that Kaozinta, who has easily penetrated through the monsters under his desperate control, wasn’t just a powerful fool, like Lex Louvre.
He appeared to be more light-footed than any other demon kings that he has met so far in all the demon worlds.
Yet, there was unavoidable look of great power in his eyes.
Having verified that, every cell in Vulcan’s body simply went into a state of alert.
Kaozinta spoke to Vulcan who was in that state.
“Is it because it is a hidden dungeon, even the ordinary monsters’ artificial intelligence looked superior… Even the boss monster’s appearance is somewhat different than other ones? There doesn’t seem much difference in power though….. Since your expressions seem more natural, by any chance can you speak as well?”
Rather than having struck up a conversation with Vulcan, it was more like talking to himself, but Vulcan obliged to give a reply.
It was because he wanted to buy some more time, and also had some questions regarding Naraka.
“Of course, I can speak, too.”
“Uh!”
“The other monsters cannot speak?”
“Uh! Again!”
Kaozinta, with his mouth open wide, pointed toward Vulcan.
He must have been really surprised since he stared at Vulcan with his eyes wide open.
Perhaps, he was able to recompose himself after having had mindlessly stared at Vulcan for a long while, because he spoke with a slight smile on his face.
“Wow, you can really speak. Is it because this is the first update in 30,000 years? It’s surely different.”
“30,000 years? Update? What are you talking about?”
Vulcan tossed a question at Kaozinta who was acting like a player who used system capabilities and uttered the words which only such players were able to recognize.
It was because he showed clear differences from the other demons that it stoked Vulcan’s interest.
However, Kaozinta did not provide an answer quickly.
He whirled the demon energy that he has instantaneously raised around him, and showed off his force.
The defensive equipment that he was wearing were covered over with gloss of black beam of light.
The facetious look that he had up to a moment ago was still on him, but undeniable murderous ambience, fighting spirit, and evil suddenly became visible.
Boooowwwoong..
Thudddd.
Finally, he was releasing incredible amount of power such that the entire temple was about to shake.
Holding the bobbling demon energy in his fist as if he was holding a black fireball, Kaozinta spoke with a grin.
“I’d like to chat some more, but my body has been burning up. Let’s talk at the next regen period!”
“Wait, hang on…..”
“Let me take some rewards for accomplishing the first clearance!”
Paat!
Kaozinta hid himself as if he has been evaporated.
Vulcan, who tried to continue the conversation, instantly lost Kaozinta’s whereabouts, and shot out flames and lightning to every direction as he blamed himself for losing him.
Zap!
Fortunately, a few magic has grazed by Kaozinta, and Vulcan was able to locate him with that.
Clearing his mind of all the confusing curiosities for now, he tried to focus on the battle.
His interest on the words like ‘update’, ‘reward level’, and others which Kaozinta has uttered caused his curiosity to peak since such words weren’t said by ordinary demons, but there was no time for him to spare his mind to such a matter.
It was a very different situation than any other times in which he had directly chosen a demon world for the purpose of leveling up.
He couldn’t have such mindset as he was in the position of facing an opponent whose level was much higher than his.
‘On top of that….. The feeling that he was only seeing me as a point of gaining experience. Feel sickening.’
Of course, he had never treated monsters as human beings when he was fighting them, but now that the script has been flipped by having become a monster, Vulcan felt very offended.
Of course even with that, he didn’t think to confront him directly by ignoring the differences in power levels, he at least had to show that he wasn’t a push over who could be manhandled.
‘Show him my ultimate skill and invoke him to be cautious, and then try to sustain for at least half a day.’
Coming to a quick conclusion, Vulcan summoned energy of lightning and fire on to the lighting sword, his very own high level, baby weapon.
Although he has been prevented by Kaozinta in the middle of reaching an understanding, it didn’t mean that there weren’t any accomplishments, so he was able to summon the energy with more ease than before.
Whirrl.
Pazzzzz.
As if to not lose to the other side, a power struggle ensued between the two energies, placing the high level lightning sword between them.
Before that energy became dispersed, Vulcan swung the sword at Kaozinta who had already came near his proximity,
Shwwoook.
The attack of his sword was like debris that quickly flew through the air after a great explosion.
Being in a momentary surprise was visible in Kaozinta’s eyes when he saw that impressive attack.
But it only lasted one moment.
With the smiling eyes, in the shape like that of a crescent moon, he saw the sword and met it with his fist.
Kwang!
Puuuung!
Pudzzzzz.
Pu-whoaaak.
The crashing sound was loud enough to rip up the ear drums.
And immediately after that, Vulcan could not help, but be flustered by the incredible amount of electricity and sparks that got dispersed in every direction.
He knew that he was a high level at 1,418, but it has never come across his mind that his ultimate skill was going to be crushed by a bare fist!
He looked at Kaozinta who was wickedly laughing in the midst of dispersing lighting and fire energy, like that in a firework.
It was like the allegory of endless despair was being embodied in the form of evil.
Having chilling thoughts, Vulcan hurriedly picked up his left foot and kicked into Kaozinta’s abdomen, but there was no affect.
Thung!
“Kr-ahk!”
Vulcan moaned in pain by the awesome anti-elastic nature of Kaozinta, as he felt he had kicked something that was more like a mountain, or even much greater thing in size and hardness.
Of course, it didn’t look like Kaozinta who was kicked in the abdomen was without any damage, since his expression was briefly suspended with his lips rounded up, yet it didn’t appear that he has taken any material damage.
There certainly was a big gap between the two powers!
At the end of the exchange, he was able to distance himself once his attack was blocked, but Vulcan certainly could not put himself at ease.
It was because that was only made possible, not due to his, own power, but because Kaozinta had a change of heart.
“I thought you would be weaker as you’re a small man, but you’re quite strong. Speed was as I expected though.”
“…..Kr!”
Vulcan felt upset as Kaozinta was speaking in terms of evaluating him, so he began to again summon magic power as he thought that things weren’t going in his way.
Padddddduk.
Pazzzzz.
Whirrrl!
Five small jades were circling around him as if they were satellites.
And the burning energy that rose up from the lightning and fire sword.
After seeing that, Kaozinta put on a bright smile as if he was looking at new interesting toys, and then he rushed quickly forward.
That was how the fight ensued again, and it was when 3 minutes of time has passed.
Vulcan felt Kaozinta’s tough fist completely covering up his vision, and he spewed out swearing words in his mind.
‘Shit!’
Puuck!
Vulcan’s head exploded like a water balloon.
Experiencing death for the first time in his life, Vulcan fell to the ground with his head blown up.
**************
“Uuuk!”
Vulcan screamed as if he has just woken up from a dreadful nightmare.
All that came into his vision was a square room that was white all over.
He surveyed the surroundings feeling like he was still half conscious, and after a few seconds have passed, he finally sighed with the realization of what was happening.
“Phewww.”
He let out a sigh, mixed with many emotions.
Vulcan murmured to himself.
“I didn’t think I would remember much.”
As he was told that he was able to regenerate, Vulcan didn’t think that he would feel all that different even if he was to die.
Perhaps, like having been injured from a hunt, or a bit more unpleasant feeling than that?
He has thought of it in the levels of such severity terms.
However, it wasn’t at all like what he had thought.
Even if he was able to regenerate, death was death as the name suggested.
Painful, horrible, and fearful.
More than anything, the feeling of being alone that would lead one to the point of trembling.
‘Never want to go through this again.
Feeling the sudden jolt of chill, he rubbed down on both his arms as he shuddered.
As he was trying to come around from the shock of being dead, a system message suddenly appeared before his eyes.
[You are dead.]
[This is the ‘regeneration room’ where the dead monsters remain standing-by.]
[Exactly one week later, you will automatically transport to the original location of the ‘fire and lightning temple’.]
‘I guess all those monsters that I have caught so far were regenerated like this. Huh… Dying is such a terribly irritating…..And crappy.’
Vulcan, for some reason, began to feel sorry towards all those monsters that he had killed up to this point.
Among them, he was feeling sorry towards Belgeram the most.
Because of Vulcan, he had trembled for over 100 years, spewing out all sorts of curse filled vulgarities, and finally coming to an understanding by overcoming the fear that came from death.
Thinking about him wearing god’s clothes that did not fit well with him for the first time in a long while, a light smile spread over Vulcan’s face.
‘Ha….You were truly great, Belgeram.’
Vulcan praised Belgeram for his greatness for a while.
Then he sat on the floor, crossed his arms, and murmured after a deep thought.
“I must go in demon-mode, I think.”
Of course, that was regretful.
He had been greatly looking forward to learning how much experience level he would be rewarded with, and finding out what kind of quest would be generated once the activity area was expanded after surviving 1 year.
However, the risk was too big.
Although the reward to be reaped would be tremendous after completing the quest, but if he was to fail, it just meant that he would have wasted all that time. Such a possible outcome was not a pleasant one for him.
In fact, he was not able to gain even a single point of experience level, in the past 1 year.
‘And there is another issue.’
There came a bastard who has learned his existence in the ‘fire and lightning temple.’
That meant that the potential for this place to be exposed, the danger level has been increased by the same amount, and that it has become even more difficult to clear the quest.
As a result, from every perspective, it has become too much of a challenge to maintain the god-mode any longer.
‘Yup, by entering in demon-mode after waiting for 1 year, it would be possible to gain experience level through normal hunting, and level up…. Then after strengthening from there for a while, I could decide whether to utilize god-mode in the next time, or get a revenge on Rock Seager before that. Alright, let me do that.’
Vulcan thought that he has come to a decision rather logically.
Vulcan spent the time by thinking about the chance for revenge against Kaozinta who has taught him about ‘death’.
As he was defeated in a very short time, there wasn’t much to regurgitate, but there was always a lesson to be had whenever he battled an opponent who was higher level than him.
Vulcan waited in the regeneration room and even had a very small thought of appreciation toward Kaozinta, when his spirit was being pulled up suddenly, and moved to some place.
Shooowwwwk.
In a blink of an eye, Vulcan was transported to the place where he was before, the boss room of the fire and lightning temple.
He looked around in amazement, and then nodding his head, he opened the system window in order to exit Naraka.
However, Vulcan could not make it so.
[Presently, there is an intruder inside the fire and lightning temple.]
[You cannot exit Naraka when there is an intruder.]
“…..What?”
Kwaaang!
At that moment, an entity kicked in the door of the boss room and entered.
Vulcan unconsciously turned his head towards the door, and became petrified like a statue.
“Hi? Will see each other for a while, now.”
Kaozinta playfully waved his hand toward me.
Vulcan could not help, but just be stupefied as he stared at him
Kwaang.
And that’s how he succumbed to his second death.
