Chapter 362
The more Andromeda got closer, the more she lost her color. Her pale face described her expression well, it was horrible. She was seeing dead bodies all around and she gulped hard. She realized the truth of this situation.
She glanced at Miriam who was sitting and hugging Kyle's cold body. It was different from her usual calm and elegant appearance. Right now, Miriam was so devastated that she couldn't understand nor see the other people around her, only Kyle and nothing else.
"Miriam…"
Andromeda opened her mouth. She kneeled and tapped her shoulder.
Miriam flinched and raised her head.
"Andromeda?"
She was shocked to see her.
Her vision slowly got blurry until she started sobbing. She clutched the hem of Andromeda's dress and bowed her head to the ground. If Andromeda asked Miriam to kiss her feet, Miriam won't hesitate to do it just to revive Kyle. Miriam would do everything for Kyle, she won't hesitate to make a deal with the devil if she had to.
She couldn't accept that Kyle died just like that. Furthermore, Miriam couldn't look at Lemar after this. She couldn't say what happened to his father. Lemar would be devastated if he found out that his father died.
"Please… I'll do anything."
Miriam sobbed as she grabbed Andromeda's foot but Andromeda stopped her before doing so. Her trembling ceased as Andromeda gently patted her head.
"Don't worry, I made a promise to him. I'll do my best to revive him."
"Thank you."
She assured Andromeda, Miriam started crying so loud, and tears almost blinded her vision. Andromeda's words saved her, she was truly the Saintess. The salvation that Miriam would gladly follow.
"Then…"
Andromeda helped Miriam to stand up and Ai Biyu appeared to help Miriam to remain standing. Even though they consumed potions, their minds and bodies were still exhausted. Especially after what happened.
"This woman..."
Ai Biyu had a clue about what was happening and she hoped that this woman, Andromeda, would revive the others too. She was hoping that everything would turn back to normal.
Andromeda checked Kyle and she confirmed that he died because he lost his heart. On top of that, she was sensing the lingering corruption in his body as if Kyle almost turn into a Demon before he died.
Deep inside, Andromeda sighed in relief when he confirmed that Kyle's body was still intact. After all, she needed his body to revive him. If the body was not present, she couldn't revive the person.
Miriam was staring intently at Kyle, she was clasping her hands tightly, praying that Kyle would return. She didn't know how Andromeda's Skills work but she understood that she could revive a dead person.
Then, Andromeda took a deep breath, this would be painful. Her Skill, Resurrection, had a great consequence. She gritted her teeth and started casting her spell.
She put her hands together and started singing an Aria hymn. Her voice was so angelic that she caught the attention of the Elves who had a strong sense of hearing. Her voice was captivating as her body started glowing.
The darkness around them slightly dimmed as she sang. Then, the light gathered and went to Kyle. His body slowly levitate until he was five feet above the ground. Miriam was watching the whole scene intently, she was afraid and hopeful at the same time.
Andromeda's forehead was sweating a lot till her face became pale. She was enduring the process.
She could revive a person but she had to experience everything that the said person experienced before he died. So right now, Andromeda was suffering just like how Kyle suffered. She felt that her limbs exploded even though they were not, the sensation was real for her.
She weakly cried but she endured it, tears gathered in her eyes until she couldn't hold back her scream. She realized that Kyle was tortured so horribly, he was healed and then tortured, this cycle repeated, and Andromeda was experiencing the process.
When the last moment happened, Andromeda gasped and kneeled. She didn't cough blood but her pain was real. She experienced how her chest was punctured, it was not a good sensation at all. She started coughing and her screams turned into growling roars. Mikael tried to get closer but Andromeda stopped him.
"No, I can do it... Ugh!"
She was biting her lip and blood slowly crept out. Yet, she maintained the Skill.
She was clawing her skin, as she was experiencing the 'death' that Kyle suffered. The aspect of experiencing the unknown, the nothingness, it sent shivers down her spine, and she further cried like dying.
She kneeled and her body was bloodied because of the self-inflicted injuries. She did that to herself to maintain her sanity, or else her brain would be fried.
She was panting as sweat dropped to the ground. She experienced death, it was definitely a terrifying experience. Andromeda's Skill had this backlash. She could revive a person but she had to suffer all the pain that the said person experienced. As long as she had mana, she could heal hundreds of people, but she had to experience all of their deaths to do that, which was far more tragic than hell. Her Skill, Resurrection, is a miracle and curse at the same time. (Note: Now that I read this again, I don't know why I repeated this sentence.)
What's more, she needed the body to revive the dead, so the idea of reviving those who died to nothingness was impossible. Everything has its limits.
Andromeda glanced and found that Kyle's chest was healed again and his heart was beating. It was weak, but it was obvious that he was alive.
She slightly smiled, she didn't care about the pain, she just wanted to save her benefactor.
"Kyle..."
Miriam weakly got closer until she reached Kyle's sleeping figure. Her eyes started blurring again until tears rolled down. She didn't know how many times she cried, she was wondering how her eyes still have the water to cry.
"Thank you."
She was choking her words, Miriam hugged Kyle as she said her gratitude. She didn't know how she could repay this. No, she knew that she could never repay Andromeda.
Andromeda smiled and shook her head which was covered with sweat.
"It's nothing, I have a promise that I have to keep."
