8 Going Back Home

Chuckling and clapping once, Rao got into the car and switched on the engine before saying, "Touche. I must say, you have the best sense of humor yet in all the assistants I've driven."

Feeling the car come alive beneath them and move in the same silent manner with which it had crept up on her before, Liz rolled up the windows before relaxing in the comfortable seats.

Hearing Rao's question, she said, "'All the assistants'? How many have there been?"

"Well, I'm not allowed to say, but let's just call it a LOT. There are a few memorable ones though. Like the one assistant who insisted that we only go through the areas of the city which are 'high-class'. And I simply can't forget the time when one brought her cat with her, which got out of her hand and almost caused an accident. Let me tell you, Miss, I've seen some stuff."

Smiling at the casual tone with which Rao gave the answer, Liz realized that she was already liking this chauffeur.

Just as she was about to say something, a loud yawn forced itself through her mouth, making her blush slightly as it echoed in the car.

"I'll be driving you for as long as you are with Happle, Inc., Miss, so please feel free to take a nap. I'll wake you up when we reach your home."

She had indeed woken up very early in the morning in order to get ready and go over all the information she had collected on the company one more time, but Liz found it weird to sleep on the first ride she was taking with this man.

As she opened her mouth with the intention of saying that she was fine, another yawn forced its way through, stopping her in her tracks.

"Please carry on, Miss. I assure you, it's very normal. Many others have already snored by this point."

Choosing to simply nod, Liz stretched back and took the most comfortable nap in her life.

...

"Miss, we are here. I'll be back to pick you up tomorrow, 8:00 am in the morning. Have a good day!"

Groggily waking up and wiping the drool that had dripped down her cheek, Liz squinter her eyes due to the sunlight pouring through the door that Rao was holding open.

Coming to her senses after a few seconds of staring at Rao as if she was seeing him for the first time, she hurriedly collected her bag and got off, swearing to never fall asleep in this car again.

"Ok. I'll see you then."

Tipping his hat at her, Rao smiled wide at her before getting on the car and driving away.

On the way, the car was followed by the catcalls and cheers of the kids who were playing on the streets.

Turning around, Liz looked up at the apartment where she had spent the majority of her life.

It was as if she had stepped into a different world till now-one she still couldn't believe she was a part of.

Taking a deep breath, she walked up the creaky stairs and fumbled in her bag before taking out the key and opening the door.

"SIIIIIIS!!"

THWUP

With a scream that was still resounding in her ears, Liz found herself being tightly hugged by her brother who had come running on hearing the door open.

"Did ya get it? Did ya get it? Did ya get it? Did ya get it?"

"YES!"

Screaming the answer out loud, Liz picked up Derek and started swinging him around.

After doing so 4 times, both of them started to get dizzy, making Liz move towards the sofa and fall on it with Derek on her stomach.

Using this opportunity, Liz pinched away at his cheeks which was something he never allowed because he thought it made them round.

Finally realizing what she was doing, he hurriedly got off and asked, "So what all did they give you?"

As a kid who had access to the internet, Derek seemed to have already looked up the perks given to P.As of top Executives.

Just as she was about to start answering, Liz heard footsteps and looked up to see her mother coming out of her room.

Seeing the guilty expression on Derek's face as he also looked up and the half-smile that her mother gave her, a deep frown came on Liz's face as she asked, "What did you two do now?"
