After the helicopter dropped him on the helipad on the rood of the Headquarters of Happle, Will took a deep breath to first assemble his thoughts.
Walking to his office even though it was around 9:00 PM in the night, he pressed a button on his phone before sitting in his seat.
If Liz had been here, she would have been shocked to see a seamlessly hidden panel open in the desk she had sat at before to reveal a transparent screen.
Measuring more than 40 inches diagonally, a message which said "Ringing" appeared on it.
After a few seconds, the image changed to show a strange scene.
On the large screen, Will could clearly see the edge of what looked like a large glass cage.
BUMP
"Ooh! It's a feisty one! Bidding for the white tiger starts at $2 million. Gentlemen and ladies, you know how rare of an opportunity this is. There are only around 200 of these magnificent creatures in the world, and we only managed to obtain one due to the grace of one of one of our sponsors. If you lose this chance, I guarantee that you will never get another!"
"5 million!"
"5.5 million!"
"7 million!"
As the sounds of bidding filled Will's room, he opened his mouth to speak but closed soon after.
"What is it?"
All other sounds faded into the background as this voice sounded in the room.
Hearing it, Will shuddered but controlled himself before saying, "It's Sylvex. They made the receptionist a spy."
"30 million! Oh, and how did you find this out?"
From the angle at which the camera was placed, Will knew that the encrypted tablet was in the hands of a P.A who was pointing it at the back of his father's head.
Although all he could see was a powerfully built body and greying hair, the image and the mocking tone of the words made Will's face turn into a frustrated expression.
Indeed, this man was his father, and the one who had given him the name 'Bradshaw' that had changed his fate forever.
Gritting his teeth, Will answered, "My new P.A-"
"So you are still useless? A rival company infiltrated the upper echelons of yours and you did not even find this out using your own efforts? If I were still the CEO, that company's name would have become a mere memory in the minds of people right after it made the decision to go up against me. Do you want me to step in?"
"No! I'll handle it myself. I thought I needed to-"
"You wanted to give me an update? When I told you to do so, I expected to hear about momentous things that will drive the company to new heights, not disappointments like these. Don't even think about contacting me again until Sylvex is burning into the ground. And if you can't do it, just ask for help. $50 Million!"
"$50 million?! Will anyone give me $50.5 million? Anyone? No? Going once, going twice, going thrice, sold to the gentleman in the back!"
As the hammer hit the table to signify the sale, Will's father turned around to look into the camera.
At the sight of the face that was so similar to his, Will almost flinched but controlled himself.
"Is that clear?"
As these words resounded in his room, Will nodded before cutting the connection.
After doing so, he banged his hands on the table in frustration once.
His entire body shaking due to the intense pain, he looked lost in his anger for a moment before gathering himself and putting back that expression of coldness on his face.
Taking out his phone, he narrowed his eyes in seriousness and dialed a number.
Not knowing that her actions had set off a chain of events that would soon rock the business world, Liz tried to fight Derek off the last piece of the chocolate pizza that Luke had just made.
While Mary was chuckling softly at the side, Liz won the battle but was startled as she realized that the spectator had entered into the fight without warning.
Snatching the piece from Liz's hand, Luke threw it at Derek before raising his hands in surrender.
Using the opportunity, Derek ate the piece in a second and started to laugh maniacally before pushing out the words "Luke's the best!" from his full mouth.
As Liz ran forward and tackled Luke, Derek ran forward and jumped on both of them, causing a series of yelps and laughter that resounded in the house.
The Redmaine family ended their day in this happy fashion, and took an early night, to get ready for a new day, slowly getting used to their new life.
