57 Destroying a Company 5

"Will, where did you find her?! She's like a diamond in the sand! If what I've seen on her resume is true, she hasn't been in situations like these before, but she was still able to draw up a plan which is very similar to one of the three you made. Are you going to tell her that?"

Taking a sip from the glass of champagne in front of him, Will answered, "No."

"Oh? I didn't know that you've changed so much to become someone who doesn't give praise to their employees where it is deserved."

"You misunderstand me. It's like you said, she is a real diamond in the sand. If pushed, I believe that she might even have come up with the best plan possible. All she needs is time to grow. I don't want to risk hampering that growth by letting her become arrogant. I don't enough about her yet to say for certain that this can't happen, but there is definitely a possibility of it happening."

Hearing this, Keren raised her eyebrows on seeing her brother praise someone for the first time in a long while.

After giving Liz some work, bath of them had retired to the bar counter where they were now sipping champagne.

"You do know that this is the first girl you've talked to me about since –"

"Keren, I only did so because she is different. She's witty and strong, and she is not someone who backs out of challenges. She actually reminded me of you, so that's why I talked about her. Don't read too much into it."

Smiling wide, Keren said, "Alright, alright, I won't say anything. And I do see the similarity. Have you talked to dad? Is he still the same?"

Hearing this question, Will tightened his hand around the glass, almost breaking it in the process.

Noticing this, Keren quickly put her hand on his, making him relax.

"Don't answer, I get it. You really shouldn't let his words affect you so much. Anyway, what do you need from me?"

Taking a few seconds to calm himself, Will took another sip before starting to list everything that they would need to begin their operation.

…..

Meanwhile, in the conference room, Liz was busy taking notes from the presentation that had been left on the screen for her to go through by the CEO.

She still couldn't shake off the feeling of awe and admiration that she had felt when she saw Mr. Will laying out a plan that made her understand why he was said to be one of the smartest CEOs in the entire world.

This was a side of him that would pull anyone into his charm, and it had made Liz once again feel the respect that had been born in her during the first meeting that she had been in with him.

She did not feel disheartened that her plan wasn't the one they were using. Instead, she only felt a sense of competition to grow and become someone who could similarly think of the best option in such situations.

Her plan had been drawn up with the idea that it was safest to move slowly and surely to take down the foundation.

The CEOs plan was similar in the fact that he also wanted the change the direction that Sylvex was taken, but instead of targeting the next Head, he was going to target the interim council.

Liz had felt the urge to hit herself on the head when she had heard the reasoning behind him choosing this method.

The previous Heads were all old people who were past their prime, but still retained a modicum of power which they exercised during this interim period. On the other hand, the potential Heads were those with great lives ahead regardless of whether they won the race or not.

In both cases, it would come down to convincing or blackmailing those in charge to follow their wishes.

And in the area of blackmail, it was more probable to find something to use if the person in question had led a much longer life and had thus had more time to make mistakes that they would want to cover up with all their power.

The entirety of Happle was hard at work to uncover these mistakes, and they would be using them to pressure the interim council into taking the decision to back off from the technology domain in the US.

Of course, there were still a lot of details in the plan, but the core essence was that they would be targeting Sylvex at a time when they were vulnerable to push them into doing something that was favorable to Happle.

Blackmail was something common in the world of business, and Liz didn't frown upon it at all. Instead, she only found herself looking forward to seeing just how exactly the CEO would fulfil this plan of his, while also hoping that she would have an important part to play.

And if she were being honest to herself, Liz would know that she was also really looking forward to the CEO displaying more of his intelligence, as she was still enthralled by what he had shown in the meeting that she had just sat through.
