"I can't believe it. She went through something like that, but she's still the way she is? Will, seriously, how did you find her?"
This was the question heard by Will when he walked out of that room and was faced by his sister.
She had clearly been watching everything from outside, and she also had shock on her face due to being witness to how Liz had managed to salvage the situation.
Seeing her brother just standing there with hesitation while looking in the direction that Liz had gone, Keren raised her hand and waved it in front of his face before saying, "Hello? Earth to Will? Has she already gotten so important that you even ignore your sister now?"
For once, Keren was the one who was rendered speechless as she saw her brother ignore her jab and say something in response.
"Is it rude to follow her to her room?"
This question was both so sudden and so weird that she didn't know what to say.
Her trademark wittiness failed her for the first time in a long time, leaving her watching the back of her brother as he made his way through the door to the corridor which led to Liz's room.
She recovered only after he left, shouting belatedly, "Of course, you idiot!"
If Will had heard her response, he might have paused and questioned his decision.
However, he had already gone beyond earshot of Keren by the time she had given her response.
Running the entire way, he was now standing outside Liz's room whose door was open.
A slight hint of hesitation came into his face now, but he put it aside as he once again remembered that expression on Liz's face when she had entered that room.
Using his hand to push it open slightly, he walked inside and heard the sounds of sobbing.
After reaching the end of the small corridor after the door, he looked at the bed to see his PA who was holding a box of tissues in her hand and letting the tears flow.
Indeed, as someone who lived with memories that would destroy others, this wasn't the first time that Liz had broken down.
Usually, it required a few tubs of ice cream and a good ol' sobbing before she went back to normal.
Yet, she was at work in a foreign country, so she had known that this wouldn't be possible.
Hence, she had hoped that the latter would be enough.
However, she had clearly messed up in a major way by leaving the door open and letting her boss inside to see her in this pathetic state.
But wait… Why was he in her room in the first place?
As this question came into her mind, she saw that his usually cold expression now had an added hint of worry that captivated her eyes and almost made her ignore the memory that was battering her and making her cry like this.
Yet, his question pushed her back into its path.
"Do you want to… Talk about what happened? I heard that it… Helps."
Clearly, he was new to this and hadn't done anything like it before, as he spoke in a hesitant tone while keeping his eyes on her.
Liz's face was swollen from the crying, and her hair was in a messy state because she had run her hands through it multiple times while trying to control yourself.
She had received some respite due to seeing him before, but this question made her once again break down and try to use the tissues in her hand to cover her face, not wanting him to see her like this
At this moment, her mind was in no state to process what she wanted.
"It's alright if you don't want to. I just wanted to make sure that you were okay."
As if becoming aware of the fact that what he was doing was inappropriate, the CEO turned around and was just about to walk away.
As it became clear to her that he was about to leave, Liz realized that she didn't want this to happen.
Hence, she opened her mouth and did something about that memory for the first time in her life.
She opened herself, and talked.
