He was forced to watch when his father hung himself?

What…the hell?

Liz couldn't believe what she was hearing, and she had to sit and think for a few moments to settle her thoughts.

If it really did happen, then it perfectly explained why Sam Raimi had seemed so crazy before, when she and the CEO had met him.

Also, someone whose psyche was damaged to such a degree by watching that traumatic event would take it out on their mother, too.

The old lady had started to sob, as if telling that statement had taken everything out of her.

So, Liz waited and just got her a glass of water.

In situations like these, it was best to stay silent instead of trying to console using fake words.

After all, only someone who had been through something similar could hope to console someone like her, so Liz sat and watched her silently.

After about 10 minutes, her sobs finally subsided before she got up abruptly.

"Miss. Margaret? Please sit down. I would really like to ask you some more questions."

Hearing this, Margaret shook her head and said, "I only came here, to the company which ruined my family, to warn you about Sam so that I wouldn't have a guilty conscience later when he does something horrible. I have no reason or interest to tell you anything else. And I have no intention to talk about my husband. Goodbye"

Leaving these words, Margaret walked to the door with strong strides, as if she wouldn't let anything get in her way.

Liz didn't try to stop her, as she knew that this woman had made up her mind. The only way to stop her would be to use force, and she had no intention of doing that.

So, right after Margaret left, Liz quickly went back to the meeting room and asked for a report about Sam Raimi's father's death.

Happle, Inc. supplied a lot of hardware and software products to the government. Hence, they also had access to government databases, such as police reports.

Sitting down with the file in hand, Liz went through it with a deep expression of thought on her face.

She now knew why Sam was crazy, but she needed to find out just who had made Sam watch and whether there were clues regarding his further actions using that knowledge.

After all, what Margaret had said could have multiple meanings.

Either it could be his father who made him watch, or it could be someone else…like Will's father.

She was going to be objective about this, so that she wouldn't leave behind any stone unturned.

This case of Sam Raimi was getting more and more twisted and weirder by the minute, and Liz was starting to feel like she was in over her head.

Alas, in such a sensitive matter, they really couldn't involve anyone else. They had to handle it themselves.

The report stated that Jonas Raimi, Sam Raimi's father, was found hanging in his bedroom. There was no evidence of foul play, but for some reason, the police carried out a thorough investigation.

In the investigation, it was found that the mother was tied to a chair while the hanging took place. The son was the one who untied her later. There was no one else present in the house at the time. The investigator also said that both the mother and son appeared unhinged, thus referring them to a psychiatric hospital.

Well, the report at least pointed to the fact that it was Jonas Raimi who had made his son watch.

But why? What could possibly be the reason for a 12-year-old to be made to watch his father die?

Liz didn't know, and she had no mood to make speculations.

She needed cold, hard facts.

Looking to the side, she once again went through the reports about Sam's supposed whereabouts.

The house where this hanging had occurred was in Toronto, and he was still living there.

If she were in his shoes, what would she do?

She had seen her father hang, so she definitely wanted to take revenge.

Her psyche was damaged permanently, so it was possible that she was prone to violent outbursts, like the one where she had hurt her mother.

If she were him…she would put the objects needed for revenge in the house, as there was no place else she could trust.

So, whatever she had planned, it was possible that it related to some building close by.

Liz got this idea because from all the records, it showed that Sam Raimi had never left Toronto in the 10 years since his father had died.

There was definitely no possibility that he drove out either, as there would be records for that, too.

Close to his house, there were three Happle, Inc. establishments.

A product store, an assembly warehouse and the factory he worked at, where the strike was going on.

As a worker from Happle, there were reports that he had gone to all three of them for some reason or the other repeatedly over the past few years.

So, Liz decided that she would be able to do nothing sitting in the office like this. She had to head out.

As she told the team this and got onto the lift, she shook her head, trying not to think about Will's father.

It could be said that he was responsible for everything that was happening. She had checked the files: he had acquired the company using underhanded means, as they had a patent which Happle needed.

No. She would trust Will and wait for him to come back after talking to her father.

After reaching the ground floor, to her surprise, Liz saw 4 heavy-set individuals in black suits waiting near the lift.

Thinking that they were here for someone else, she was going to walk towards the car before she was stopped by one of them.

"Miss, we are here to escort you. We were tasked by Mr. William to ensure your safety. Please follow us, we have a different car prepared."

4 bodyguards…for her?

There he was again, thinking about her and ensuring her safety even though he was absent.

Smiling and remembering that amazing hug, Liz nodded and followed the men, feeling warm inside.
