As Liz and Will heard the innocent question from Derek, both of them could only stare with shock as the door opened to reveal them in a very compromising position.
Liz's hands were around Will's neck, holding his face close to hers and Will's arm was pulling Liz by her waist.
In a flash, they managed to extricate each other, but that was enough for little Derek to understand what was going on.
Putting his hands on his mouth with surprise, he shouted in a high-pitched voice that made both Will and Liz blush together while the former rushed to wipe at his mouth to get rid of the incriminating evidence.
"I get it! Sis and boss, in the car, K I S S I N G!"
It didn't rhyme very well, but Derek chortled at his own creation, as he repeated it continuously while zooming away.
Even before Liz could say anything, Derek was already near Mary, singing his little rhyme while Mary glanced towards the car with raised eyebrows.
With shock and embarrassment, Liz and Will stared at each other for a few moments before nodding as one, saying, "Get him before he tells Keren."
Quickly getting out of the car, Liz was about to run towards Derek to clamp her hand on his mouth, but she realized that it was too late.
Keren had already gotten out of the car and heard the rhyme, turning towards Liz with a smile on her face while she was clearly holding in her laughter.
Luke, on the other hand, was doing the same. With one hand on his mouth, he was looking at Liz while Derek jumped around, shouting the rhyme which would definitely have been heard by even the neighbors.
Finally, it was Mary who broke the silence, chuckling first before going towards Derek and closing his mouth.
"Do you want to finish up, or are you coming in?"
As she asked Liz this, the other two also burst out laughing, while Liz found herself alone in the street, looking down as if she were a naughty girl who had been caught in the act.
Her plan to act angry at Luke to make him spill all the details had been completely ruined.
Thankfully, Will got out of the car then, but instead of saving her, he read the situation and got back in, startling Liz and making the other three laugh even more.
What? The famous CEO was running away?
Wait… Or was he giving her a way out?
As a bulb lit up over her head, Liz understood and also got into the car, finally escaping from those gazes while the three heartily continued to laugh while going inside.
In the car, Will was shaking his head ruefully, and as he turned to look at Liz, he shrugged his shoulders as if to say 'What can you do?'
With this, even Liz couldn't control it and started to laugh as she realized just how funny this must have seemed to the others.
As Will joined in, the couple had a minute of merriness together before Liz cut off her laughter and said with determination, "No more kissing in the car, especially when we're driving to my house."
Stopping his laughter too, Will nodded, looking as if he was agreeing to a sanction from a judge instead of a decision from his girlfriend.
With this tacit understanding formed between them, Will and Liz walked into the house, prepared for the stares they were going to get but having accepted them, as it had been their fault after all.
Inside, thankfully, it seemed that Mary had asked the other two to calm down, as Keren was simply sitting in the hall while playing with Derek and the new toys that she had gifted him, which included top-of-the-line toy helicopters and remote-controlled cars.
She only smiled at the couple and blew a kiss to refer to what had happened, which made Liz blush slightly before shaking it off.
Will, on the other hand, seemed stoic, as he was much more used to controlling his emotions in tense situations.
Luke, on the other hand, had a neutral expression on his face, as although that had been funny, he still wasn't comfortable with the fact that someone he had feelings for just a few days ago was kissing someone else.
Only, the expression turned into alarm when he found his hand grasped by Liz as she lead him upstairs without a word.
After reaching her room, Liz pushed Luke inside before entering and locking the door behind her.
"Liz –"
"Sit. And listen."
Shoving Luke back toward the bed, Liz said these words with an iron tone which brooked no argument.
With a gulp, Luke obliged, sitting and zipping his mouth.
Running a hand through her hair, Liz first assembled her thoughts before looking straight at Luke and saying, "I'm sorry, okay? It was wrong to be like that – to exclude you like that, and not talk to you like we always did. We always had each other's back, and it was just that finding out that you had feelings for me made me feel as if I shouldn't be talking to you about such things. I really regret doing it. And I want to stop. Whatever is going on between you and Keren, no matter if it is temporary or fake or...I dunno, it made me understand how you must've felt. I don't want either of us to feel like that ever again. So from now on, I'll tell you everything, and you should also do the same, just like always. Just like when we were kids. Just like when we grew up. Deal?"
If Luke had to be frank, this was the one thing that he had been hoping would come out of this entire situation.
That was why he had accepted that offer of acting as Keren's boyfriend, even though he had no feelings for her.
However, now, he had to say that her plan had been full proof, as it had already given results.
His heart had been skittish all these days, as he had really been missing his best friend.
Now, finally, it settled down, which made him grin broadly.
"Deal," he said, and that was enough.
As Liz smiled in return, letting her guilt go, she threw an unexpected question at Luke, which made him sputter.
"Good. Now give me the deal with Keren. Right now. All the details. Have you had your first kiss?"
