Thankfully, this time, Will and Liz had enough time to take precautionary measures.
It was only Will who had his clothes off, so he quickly ran to the side.
The terrace was in such a way that there was a walled space which included the door, and Liz and Will were behind it.
So, Derek would have to circle around if he wanted to see them.
As they both scrambled to get up, Will hid behind the wall, while Liz ran to the door to find Derek walking towards where Will was hiding while groggily rubbing his eyes.
At this moment, she really felt like spanking the kid, but he hadn't done anything wrong.
So, putting on a forced smile, Liz firmly grasped his shoulders and turned him around before he could say anything.
Pressing her lips into a thin line, she said, "Yes, sis just came up here to make a call, as there was no signal downstairs. You just go back to sleep."
"Ok…"
Derek was still quite drowsy, and he had only come up here as he was very curious to see if it was Santa, who might have come at the wrong time by mistake.
Disappointed that it was not the case, he just wanted to go back to sleep.
However, from the corner of his eye, he saw a jacket and a shirt on the ground.
"Sis, you dropped some clothes there.", he said innocently, and this made Liz's face burn fiercely as she turned to where he was pointing and saw that it was where Will's clothes had landed after he had chucked them before.
"Ok then, off to bed we go. Wheee!"
Quickly accelerating in order to not let Derek notice that it wasn't her clothes, Liz made sounds like a car as she took him to the door and descended the steps with him.
It was only after he was safely tucked into his bed did she breathe a sigh of relief before returning upstairs.
That had been so close!
Finding them kissing was one thing, but this was really on a different level.
Thankfully, both of their quick wits had saved the day.
After reaching up and carefully locking the terrace door this time, Liz saw that Will had put on his shirt and jacket and was now dismantling the telescope.
Noticing this, she couldn't help but grimace with frustration.
The moment was lost, and they could do nothing to bring it back, at least at this spot where they wouldn't be able to shake away the fear that someone else might appear.
Seeing Liz's crestfallen expression, Will smiled and walked to her before saying, "Good save."
Nodding, Liz replied in the same tone she had used in the morning in the car, when she had made that sanction.
And this time, Will echoed her words.
"No 'activities' anywhere in the house."
Hearing each other speak at the same time, both Will and Liz broke out into laughter, amazed at the uniqueness of the situation.
After the laughter subsided, Will leaned forward and kissed Liz's forehead gently.
"We should do this again, though. Soon. And at a place where Derek can't interrupt us."
It had been fine in those moments of passion, but now, Liz smiled demurely before looking down.
However, she nodded, which made Will want to whoop and jump in the air.
Turning back, he packed up everything, including the candles which had long become extinguished.
Lugging the backpack, he walked back to Liz before saying, "I'll plan something. You just make sure Derek doesn't mention this to Mary. I don't know how I'll face her if that happens. Good night, Elizabeth. I had a wonderful time."
Nodded, Liz stepped forward and gave him a short hug before saying, "I'll take care of that. You just take care not to trip and fall. I had an incredible time, too. And don't forget the promise to take me the next time you guys go stargazing. Thank you so much for coming."
Feeling appreciated was something that was crucial in any relationship, so when Will heard this, he felt joy erupt in his heart, and he felt like patting himself on the back for coming up with this plan.
Resolving to make many more like this one, he nodded and waved before vaulting over the terrace wall with a heroic gesture.
Despite what he had said, Liz still felt worried and walked forward to ensure that he hadn't mistakenly fallen down due to the attempt to look cool.
Thankfully, she could see his shadow swiftly scaling the walls like a lizard before landing on the ground and dusting off his arms.
Waving at Liz again, he walked to the waiting car and left, after which Liz returned to the bed while humming a happy tune.
That night was destined to be a restless one, as Liz kept waking up due to the memory of what had happened above, while even her dreams seemed to be berating her for not locking the terrace door as she had run forward to Will after she had seen him.
Although she knew that this would only have resulted in Derek banging on the door before going to wake up Mary to ask why the terrace door was locked from the outside at night, the regret due to having their amazing 'activity' interrupted didn't leave.
The next morning, Liz had dark circles under her eyes, and as she brushed her teeth and went down, she was surprised to see that Luke and Keren were arguing while sitting on the kitchen island.
She had come early on purpose to make sure that Derek wouldn't say anything, so it was only 7:30 AM.
What had sent these two on a tizzy so early in the morning?
As she overheard their conversation, Liz got the answer, and it made her gulp, wondering whether she had heard right.
"No! A million times no! I won't stand for it!"
"Why not, Luke? Your dishes are incredible, and there's a lot of potential in the market right now for the kind of food you cook! It's just a small amount of $ 10 million! We will just open a couple of restaurants and see how it goes! Besides, you'll be working with Liz, as this will be her first assignment after her promotion!"
