Chapter 23 - UNCANNY HAPPENINGS

Name:Meridian's Devil Author:s_cosmos
Wu glances once at Yue as he walks past her and scrounges the undergrowth for something, that she had no idea about. She scrutinizes his movements and he questionably quirks his brow at her as he catches her following all his actions. She shakes her head and he scoffs as he again walks past her to stand right in front of her.

He pulls his arm back, almost as though positioning it to throw something. Yue narrows her eyes at his absurd behaviour, but then bring back the composition of her eyes to it's normal form as she catches a glimpse of some sort of cloth in hand.

That too is controversial, but that explains at least that he indeed is trying to throw something.

Her gaze trails the flying fabric. It's a grey colored trouser, she watches it land amongst the undergrowth behind the timbre wolf, right where it entranced from. It turns it's head halfway behind probably to gaze at the commotion causing object, before it stands up from where it lies and makes it's way towards the bushes.

Yue tilts her head in puzzlement, unable to comprehend what in the world was actually taking place between these two?

"What are you even doing-"

"Shut up." Yue pouts in wrath and indignation. That was straight off mean. 'He cannot just shut me up like that.'

"What the hell is going on, Wu." His head snaps towards her direction instantly and she holds back her tongue instinctively in response. Suddenly her, oh-so-aggressive personality is subsumed all by his one look.

One enraged look of his was enough to shut her up. She did stop talking, but he didn't look away. His gaze almost pierced through her soul.

She coughed pretentiously unaware of how to react under his constant heated gaze as he turned entirely towards her.

The clouds once again segment, allowing the moon space enough to shine it's light upon the vast enormous forest. Sliding away the veil of shadows that lied upon the dark canopy of trees.

The moonbeams cast light upon the gorgeous man in front of her, as though this was a stage and he was under the spotlight. She catches a glimpse of his broad shoulders and well-built, his long silver locks amongst his otherwise ebony hair falls upon his forehead perfectly.

Her eyes chase a bead of sweat that rolls down the nape of his neck, down towards his tattooed pecs, further below to his flawless abs.

"You don't call me by name so casually unless I permit you to do so. Understand?" She turns her head sideways, looking anywhere but at him. 'What's his problem? Why does he treat himself as all high mighty? Who does he take himself to be, the prince of the kingdom? He cannot just order me around as though I am under his authorization.'

Yue does not speak back as of now, as she was still apprehensive of the wolf behind the bushes. But once they get back to his house, she had decided not to hold back her trail of thoughts and questions that she intended to pour upon him-

"Do you or do you not understand, Yue?" He reiterates his aforementioned question, but Yue is too intimidated to even look him in the eye. His sleek fingers position themselves below her chin, and she flinches almost instinctively.

His hand then spreads and softly grabs her jaw entirely, turning her head forcibly to meet his subduing gaze. His grasp across her jaw was fixated with enough force to position and lock her face but gentle enough to not leave behind any marks,

"I…understand." She spoke reluctantly and hearing her concede to his commands he instantaneously let go of her face, a triumphant smirk lingering on his face as backs away.

Turning again to face the front, and she stares in dread at his broad back, his back muscles are firm as he slides his hands into the pockets of his sweat-pants. She pouts behind his back, where he wouldn't scrutinize and reprimand her for my expressions towards him.

He was overly bossy. Though some part of Yue enjoys his dominant personality, she didn't like to be treated as though she was bound to undermine herself to his authority.

She rolls her eyes at her contradicting thoughts and folds her arms across her chest. The shirt wasn't enough to protect her of the dry cold out there. And comparatively, it was colder in the dense forest.

The undergrowth in the vanguard rustles again and her body jerks in revolt, anticipating the wolf to emerge through it again, she steps a little forward to stand directly behind Wu. He doesn't react to neither her actions nor to the sudden fissle of the brushwood in the shadows.

But her reaction was rather irreconcilable.

Her mouth remains agape in fascination and her eyes narrowed in perplexity as instead of the lofty fluff wolf, an appealing man emanates through the wilderness.

"What the...."
