Chapter 1274 - Is Lu Jinnan Blind?

“You asked me to apologize, and I did… After throwing my face, what have we obtained? We obtained the outcome of not being allowed to appear before Lu Jinnan again!” Hong Jinyun’s mother poked Hong Jinyun’s head angrily. “Why are you so stupid? What are we going to do now? You incompetent fool!”

Hong Jinyun quietly gazed at Lu Jinnan and Bai Xiaonian’s back views as they left together hand-in-hand.

She had thought that Lu Jinnan merely deliberately acted that way before Bai Xiaonian. She had thought that Lu Jinnan would at least turn back and throw her a reassuring gaze!

Alas, Lu Jinnan simply left with Bai Xiaonian like that, not even bothering to look at Hong Jinyun from his peripheral vision. Even after he walked a long distance away, he didn’t care to turn around and cast her the gaze she had anticipated.

Hong Jinyun’s eyes reddened. Not because of her unreasonable mother’s tantrum, but because… there was no longer a place for her in Lu Jinnan’s heart!

Since Lu Jinnan could say something like that today, perhaps in his heart… there wasn’t a single trace of her anymore, right?

The ironic thing was, before coming, she had thought that at least… in Lu Jinnan’s heart, she occupied the softest spot!

She had wanted to use this to move Lu Jinnan, to get him to take care of her mother until the end of her days after Hong Jinyu passed away.

Seeing the way Lu Jinnan behaved, it already took him great restraint to hold himself back from killing her mother, much less get him to take care of her mother until her final days.

Hong Jinyun closed her eyes, which felt terribly painful.

Did she think too highly of herself?

Hong Jinyun’s mother was still nagging incessantly. “Other than being slightly younger than you, in what way is Bai Xiaonian comparable to you? Is Lu Jinnan blind? Look at the way Bai Xiaonian spoke earlier, did she show any respect to her elders? To think Lu Jinnan is so protective of such a b*tch with such a poor upbringing!”

Hong Jinyun couldn’t heed a word of what she said.

“I’ve said we should think of a way to get rid of that slab of meat in Bai Xiaonian’s stomach! With that slab of meat… there’s no way Lu Jinnan would divorce Bai Xiaonian. You’re too merciful, saying what, the child is innocent? What child… That’s merely a slab of meat! If Lu Jinnan wants children… you can pay for a surrogate mother later on!”

“Mom… stop it!” Hong Jinyun no longer wished to hear her mother’s nagging. Her voice raised several pitches, and she covered her ears with both hands, yet it couldn’t block out the image of Lu Jinnan resolutely leaving in her mind. She saw it over and over again.

Hong Jinyun felt like her heart was being torn to shreds…

Clearly, she no longer had any fantasies about Lu Jinnan. After all, she was about to die!

If she hadn’t met Lu Jinnan, Hong Jinyun might have already ended her painful life.

But now, why was she feeling such terrible heartache?

“You’re asking me to stop it? I spoke, and you didn’t even follow my instructions. Much less if I don’t say anything at all…” Hong Jinyun’s mother’s chest was heaving violently. “Tell me, what are we going to do now? Don’t tell me we should do as you say… and leave just like this, not getting anything in the future?”

Hong Jinyun felt super vexed. She forced herself to calm down. “If we don’t leave… should we be waiting for that assistant of Jinnan’s to come and chase us away instead?”

Hong Jinyun’s mother knew she couldn’t force Hong Jinyun. After all, she was pinning all her hopes on Hong Jinyun to take care of her future.

Seeing how pained Hong Jinyun looked, Hong Jinyun’s mother swallowed back down her sarcastic words. “Then let’s leave first and think of a solution later! But we can’t return to the condo anymore… and the hospital bills are due. Where should we go now?”

“To a hotel!” Hong Jinyun said exhaustedly.

“Where do we find the money to stay at a hotel?” Hong Jinyun’s mother sounded vexed.

Ever since they started receiving monetary support from Lu Jinnan, Hong Jinyun’s mother started spending extravagantly, nearly squandering away every cent Lu Jinnan gave her every month. Plus, she was running out of her own savings too. She had to have a backup plan. What little money she had left… she had to keep for herself instead of spending it all on Hong Jinyun!

What if Hong Jinyun didn’t secure her any benefits before she died? She would have no money left at all.

“Then let’s go back to America!” Hong Jinyun turned around and gazed at her mother with reddened eyes, looking extremely calm. “When Jinnan’s assistant comes later, I’ll beg him to help buy you a plane ticket back to America. You have a house in America… so at least you won’t have to sleep on the streets!”

Hong Jinyun’s mother frowned deeply, not uttering a word…

Hong Jinyun continued, “You don’t have to bother about my affairs. Mom… believe me, you’ve done so much for me in the past. I’ll definitely make sure you’re well taken care of after I pass away. Just wait in America!”

Hong Jinyun had a goal… However, her mother would only hold her back. On the other hand, once her mother returned to America, perhaps things would go more smoothly for her when Lu Jinnan saw that she was left all alone.

“No!” Hong Jinyun’s mother turned down this proposal.

“Mom… if you’re not around, Jinnan will know that no one is taking care of me. Only then will he possibly feel sorry for me on account of our past relationship!” Hong Jinyun gripped her mother’s hand tightly. “I won’t forget what I promised you! Am I not doing all this to make sure you’ll be taken care of?”

Hong Jinyun’s mother didn’t utter a word…

Seeing that her mother didn’t quite understand, Hong Jinyun patiently explained with her brows furrowed, “To put it bluntly, Bai Xiaonian’s father being hospitalized and Bai Xiaonian getting injured… these are mistakes committed by you, Mom. If we fall out and make Jinnan think that I fell out with you because of this matter, that no one is taking care of me anymore… he’ll surely show me concern! So you have to return to America. Now that I’m putting it this way, do you understand?”

Hong Jinyun’s mother nodded, seemingly lost in thought. She then asked, “Can’t you just say that I’ve returned to America while I continue to stay?”

Before Hong Jinyun could say anything else, Lu Jinnan’s assistant arrived…

“Miss Hong!”

Even though they had clearly fallen out, Lu Jinnan’s assistant still maintained a polite smile.

Hong Jinyun nodded.

“Miss Hong, you truly put me in a difficult position this time around…” the assistant said with a smile. “Can you stop showing up in front of President Lu and Mrs. Lu? Otherwise, I’ll have to take extreme measures against the two of you…”

Hong Jinyun’s mother was furious upon hearing this. She widened her eyes and pointed at the assistant. “I say…”

Hong Jinyun hurriedly stopped her mother and said to the assistant, “Can I ask you for a favor?”
