Chapter 1327 - How do you know on which floor do I live?

“Xiao Cai!” Without waiting for Cai Jingyao to finish, Mr. Dan interrupted her, his tone still as calm as ever. “Why did you suddenly become so distant with me, calling me you?”

There was a slight smile in Mr. Dan’s voice when he spoke, but it was oppressive.

Cai Jingyao had her head lowered, and her hands, of which nails were covered in nail polish, were tightly gripping onto the napkin. She bit her lip and didn’t say a word.

Seeing Cai Jingyao remain silent, Mr. Dan didn’t insist. He picked up his phone and slipped it into his suit pocket. “Let’s go. I’ll send you back.”

“There’s no need, Mr. Dan!” Cai Jingyao hurriedly waved her hands. She frantically grabbed her shoulder bag from behind her and put it on. She then stood up. “I can take a cab myself. It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Dan. But in the future… in the future…”

Cai Jingyao then took a step back. Her stilettos slanted to the side. If it weren’t for Mr. Dan’s quick reflexes, she would have fallen to the ground in a disheveled state.

Cai Jingyao stood firmly with a pale face. She immediately retracted her hand from Mr. Dan’s hand. After apologizing, she held back the pain in her ankle and fled with reddened eyes.

Since she knew that Mr. Dan would chase after her, Cai Jingyao did her best.

After getting off the cruise, Cai Jingyao gritted her teeth and endured the intense pain in her ankle as she limped forward in her high heels…

Cai Jingyao was walking alone on the road. At that hour, it had to be said that it was a little dangerous. A sports car which was speeding by, slowed down beside her, and the people in the car whistled at her.

Cai Jingyao was holding onto her phone. She put it by her ear, acting as if she was making a call. “Right… I’m by this bridge. Okay… there’s a seat by the roadside. I’ll wait for you here. Right… do you see me?”

Cai Jingyao then turned around to look behind her. Thankfully, there was a car behind them. The few youngsters thought it was someone who was there to pick up Cai Jingyao, so thinking it was pointless, they drove away!

Cai Jingyao heaved a sigh of relief. Holding back the intense pain in her ankle, she sat down on the long bench by the roadside. She took off her high heels and looked at her swollen ankle. She seemed to have been tipsy from the red wine earlier, and she rubbed her temples.

Two car lights were flashing in her direction. Cai Jingyao subconsciously turned her head and blocked the lights with her hand. The sound of the car tires told her that the car had slowed down and stopped beside her.

Cai Jingyao knew it was Mr. Dan’s car, but she still pretended to be alarmed. She immediately picked up her phone and pretended to make a call…

“Right, I’m right here. Do you see me?” Cai Jingyao stood up, her hands tightly gripping her bag, her voice trembling nervously.

The door of the driver’s seat opened. It was Mr. Dan.

Cai Jingyao’s throat moved, and tears rolled down her cheeks like strings of broken pearls. The phone that she was holding slipped down her hand.

Cai Jingyao was about to bend over to pick up her phone when Mr. Dan picked it up for her, The phone displayed her call log, and the most recent call was from when he picked her up for a meal!

Mr. Dan recalled that in the car just now, when he saw a sports car slowly stop beside Cai Jingyao, Cai Jingyao started making calls. Later, when his car stopped, Cai Jingyao pretended to make a call. He had to admit that this young lady was rather clever.

He returned the phone to Cai Jingyao. With both hands in his pockets, he looked at the woman before him and asked, “Why are you running so fast? Am I a tiger that eats people?”

Cai Jingyao bit her lip and didn’t say a word, her tears falling…

Mr. Dan saw Cai Jingyao’s swollen ankle. His brows furrowed as he helped Cai Jingyao sit down on the long bench and squatted down.

Cai Jingyao subconsciously retracted her foot, but Mr. Dan grabbed her calf and sized up her swollen ankle.

“I’m fine…” Cai Jingyao sounded nasal.

“Your ankle is this swollen, and yet you’re still insisting that you’re fine?” Mr. Dan didn’t say anything. He lifted Cai Jingyao horizontally, placed her in the front passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and brought her to the hospital.

Thankfully, Cai Jingyao had merely twisted it without fracturing its bones.

After leaving the hospital, Mr. Dan sent Cai Jingyao to the door and asked, “Is there anyone in your house? Tell them to come down and pick you up. Otherwise, I’ll send you up!”

“No need! I can go up myself!” Cai Jingyao unbuckled her seatbelt and forced herself to leave.

“Again?” Mr. Dan frowned.

Cai Jingyao struggled to free her wrist from Mr. Dan’s grip like a startled deer, tears falling down her cheeks again.

Mr. Dan’s heart ached from Cai Jingyao’s tears. He frowned even harder. “Did I offend you in any way tonight? Why are you so afraid of my touch?”

When Cai Jingyao heard this, her tears fell even harder. She bit her lip and said after a long while, “I’m very sorry, Mr. Dan…”

“What are you apologizing for?” Mr. Dan asked patiently.

“I… I didn’t know you were married.” Cai Jingyao cautiously glanced at the wedding ring on Mr. Dan’s ring finger.

Mr. Dan was slightly stunned.

Cai Jingyao suddenly covered her face and cried. “Mr. Dan, please stop being so nice to me. You’re married… I… I can’t like you! I can’t like you…”

Mr. Dan’s lips parted slightly as he looked at Cai Jingyao’s thin shoulders.

In Mr. Dan’s eyes, Cai Jingyao was a talkative and happy young lady.

So, she was upset because she knew that she had fallen for a married man and wanted to avoid him. Did the fact that he was already married hurt her?

Mr. Dan didn’t know how to comfort Cai Jingyao. He frowned and reached out his hand… but he hesitated to touch this girl who had her own morals.

“I’m sorry!” After apologizing, Cai Jingyao pushed open the door and got out of the car. Bearing with the pain from her ankle, she limped towards the entrance of the building, not even taking her bag.

Seeing Cai Jingyao enter the building, Mr. Dan retracted his gaze and noticed Cai Jingyao’s bag in the front passenger seat.

Sighing, Mr. Dan picked up his bag from the front passenger seat and followed her into the building.

Mr. Dan, who didn’t know which floor Cai Jingyao was staying at, accurately found out where Cai Jingyao was.

After coming out of the elevator, Mr. Dan saw Cai Jingyao squatting at the door, hugging her knees and looking pitiful like an abandoned puppy. It made one feel pity for her.

Mr. Dan frowned and walked towards Cai Jingyao. He bent over and reached out a hand to her. “Get up…”

Cai Jingyao looked at Mr. Dan in disbelief. “How… how did you know which floor I’m staying on?”

Mr. Dan pulled Cai Jingyao up from the ground. When he saw the young lady crying so hard that her eyes had turned red, her stray hair stuck to her fair and clean face with tears, he felt compassion.
