292 Crushing Him Mentally Rather Than Punishing Him Physically

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, I suppose this saying is true indeed…"

Bai Xiaonian turned around to see who was speaking. Lu Jinnan was standing in front of the men's room, decked in a black suit, with a cigarette hanging from his mouth and his hands in his pockets. His tie was askew, and he was frowning as the white smoke from his cigarette lingered in the air. He squinted to look at her through the white mist with his lean chin tilted up, gallant and uninhibited.

They had previously exchanged words at the Fu family mansion, and Bai Xiaonian was still a little fearful of Lu Jinnan. After all, he had once killed someone. Beads of perspiration started dripping down the back of her neck.

She gazed intently at Lu Jinnan and spoke in a friendlier tone than when she was speaking to Wen Moshen. "I was just stating the truth, what do you mean by hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? I don't get why you would say that, Mr. Lu."

Lu Jinnan stared at Bai Xiaonian and took out the cigarette from his lips, tapping the ashes against the ashtray on the bin. He scoffed and said in disbelief, "The truth? You could have told him the so-called truth before his wedding, yet you chose to do it after he got married… Miss Bai, what an ingenious way to make him suffer, this is a worse punishment than killing him, you are crushing him mentally rather than punishing him physically!"

"Mr. Lu, my good friend is collecting her marriage certificate today with your buddy. I may not be as smart as Mr. Lu, but even I know that if I were to tell Wen Moshen the truth before that, wouldn't I be messing up my good friend's big day?" Bai Xiaonian sneered and said, "Or maybe Mr. Lu is the one with intentions to botch your buddy's big day?"

Lu Jinnan narrowed his eyes and peered at Bai Xiaonian's beautiful features as she smiled brightly. He took one last puff before throwing away the cigarette butt and walking towards Bai Xiaonian.

Bai Xiaonian intuitively tensed her body and clenched her fists. She took a step back, looking slightly intimidated.

The thought of Lu Jinnan killing somebody still struck fear in Bai Xiaonian, and she was responding to her body's instinct.

It was amusing to see Bai Xiaonian try her best to look composed and collected, but at the same time, she couldn't help taking a few steps back. Lu Jinnan stopped and said smilingly, "You said that Lin Nuan went to Iraq in search of Wen Moshen. If it is indeed true… then I don't approve of Fu and her getting their marriage certificate. How can she stay true to Fu if there is another person in her heart? If it's not true, then you making it up reflects badly on your character. Birds of a feather flock together, and I doubt Lin Nuan will be any better than you!"

Bai Xiaonian was fearful, but Lu Jinnan's words angered her. She gathered her courage and stared straight at Lu Jinnan in the eye, smiling sarcastically. "Speaking of birds of a feather flocking together, come to think of it, I don't think Fu Huai'an is worthy of being with Lin Nuan! If you can kill for a woman, who's to say that Fu Huai'an hasn't killed anyone before? Killing someone for whatever noble reason still makes him a murderer!"

Lu Jinnan's eyes darkened as he stared at Bai Xiaonian, who wasn't ready to yield.

After leaving the wedding banquet, Lin Nuan called Fu Huai'an and arranged a time to meet at her house. Seeing that it was still early, she decided to take a shower.

She looked through her wardrobe and selected a formal one-piece suit dress with a collar.

As she usually had to put on makeup for work, Lin Nuan seldom applied makeup otherwise. She looked through her vanity drawer for her cosmetics, tied her hair into a bun, and dolled herself up.

Lin Nuan's lipsticks were mostly gifts from Bai Xiaonian, who had commented that Lin Nuan had beautiful lips which were very suitable for a dusty rose shade.

After she had applied her lipstick, Lin Nuan let her hair down. She tried on several different pairs of shoes, earnestly checking her reflection in the mirror each time, before she finally decided on a pair and left her house. It was a sweet moment and a joyful day for her.
