There was a large bouquet in the car trunk and lying right in the middle of the flowers was a sapphire blue velvet ring box. In it was a huge diamond ring of the finest quality.
Lin Nuan gaped, she was surprised and happy at the same time.
She only knew about the flowers and had no idea there was going to be a ring as well.
Lin Nuan knew that it was the ultimate dream of all women to be able to possess a diamond of the highest quality. Her lips curled, and her heart racing, she finally had the chance to see the diamond in person.
Fu Huai'an stood beside Lin Nuan and bent down to take the diamond ring out from the trunk. He held the ring in one hand as the other reached out towards Lin Nuan.
Lin Nuan understood what Fu Huai'an meant, and she bit her lip. They had already collected the marriage certificate, and there was no need for her to be pretentious. She stretched out her slender left hand and looked on intently as Fu Huai'an slid the ring onto her ring finger.
Lin Nuan gazed into the realms of Fu Huai'an's deep eyes and tried to restrain the wild palpitation of her heart. "If I were to wear this ring to work, do you think someone would rob me?"
The dazzling diamond was still glistening brilliantly under the soft glow of the sunset. It was hard to contain its brilliance as the diamond sparkled with her every movement.
"This is not a wedding ring," Fu Huai'an said in his charming, gentle voice.
Lin Nuan raised her hand and looked at the heavy ring. Her crease-free fingers were fair and slender, like a jade pipe, and her greenish veins stood out against her translucent skin. "I wouldn't dare put this on before the wedding anyway; this is such a huge proposal ring."
"I didn't say it was a proposal ring!" Fu Huai'an interrupted. He reached out and pulled Lin Nuan towards him in a swift movement.
Lin Nuan was tugged firmly into Fu Huai'an's embrace, and all she could smell was his sophisticated and masculine scent. She didn't even have time to react before she felt Fu Huai'an's warm breath beside her ears as he spoke in his deep and sonorous voice.
"Who told you this was a proposal ring? This is a gift for our marriage certification! Mrs. Fu… I owe you a proposal. I am still in the midst of preparing for it, and I will probably be ready just before the wedding!"
Lin Nuan's hands were pressing against Fu Huai'an's chest, and she could feel the thumping of his heart. She was overwhelmed by his tenderness, and her heart was beating so fast it felt like it was about to thump its way out of her chest.
She could never turn away from his penetrating gaze, and she felt like she was drowning in his deep and passionate love.
And… there was going to be a proposal?
A surprise proposal was something Lin Nuan had dreamt about when she was much younger, fantasizing about it with her girlfriends as they tried to imagine what their significant other would be like. He would pop the question in front of a huge crowd as he carried a huge bouquet of roses. He would then kneel on one knee and present her with a proposal ring, and she would say yes—all teary-eyed—as the crowd around them cheered and they would hug and live happily ever after.
She thought that someone like Fu Huai'an would find the idea of a proposal childish and so she had told herself not to expect one.
But Fu Huai'an had revealed that a proposal was in the works. She wanted to ask what the proposal would be like, but she was too coy to do so.
Lin Nuan bit on her lower lip and stopped herself from asking.
Fu Huai'an pressed his large hands against Lin Nuan's back, thrusting her against his body. His breath was hot and heavy as he said teasingly, "Mrs. Fu, we are officially husband and wife now, so when will you make the first move?"
