Mo Yu angrily patted the dust off his legs, his eyes flashing. “Then, how would you like me to respond to Miss Meng?”
Mo Hanchen paused in the middle of signing another document. “Tell her I’m busy and won’t have the time to see her. Tell her I don’t need her fake concern!”
Mo Yu exited the president’s office with a bellyful of hatred. “I’ll let you play smug; I’ll let you be as smug as you want!” he muttered, “If you want to act cool, don’t come crying when things don’t go your way in the future!”
Meng Yue waited and waited, but instead of Mo Hanchen, Mo Yu appeared. She froze when she saw Mo Yu. Soon, she recalled who he was: Mo Hanchen’s pitiful assistant whom he often beat up.
Meng Yue took the initiative to greet him. “Hello!”
Mo Yu politely returned the greeting, “Hello, Miss Meng. I’m President Mo’s assistant. I’m not sure if you remember me… My name is Mo Yu.”
Meng Yue nodded. “It’s nice to meet you.”
When Mo Yu greeted her, he caught sight of the redness around her neck. Why was her neck so red? Did Mo Hanchen do something to her again?
Had he seen a ghost?
“Special Assistant Mo, Mo Hanchen, he…”
Mo Yu got straight down to business. “Miss Meng, my apologies. President Mo is very busy and does not have the time to meet you.”
Meng Yue frowned. She had guessed as much when Mo Hanchen refused to answer her call. He was being petty again.
Still, her conscience would not allow her not to try and warn him of Xiang Haoyu’s designs.
Alas, if he was not willing to hear her out, there was nothing she could do; she had already done her best.
Meng Yue got up, appearing slightly embarrassed. “Thank you for informing me. I shan’t keep you any longer.”
Mo Yu sent Meng Yue off.
Before she got into her car, she apologised to Mo Yu. “I’m sorry if President Mo hit you because of me. Please accept my apology.”
Mo Yu’s eyes lit up. “Miss Meng, perchance, do you wish to know why I was beaten up the other time?”
Meng Yue tilted her head questioningly.
Mo Yu laughed, subconsciously touching his chest. “Miss Meng, you never cease to surprise me every time I meet you!”
Meng Yue blinked in confusion, asking, “What surprises have I brought?”
She recalled the last time she was in Moyun City and drew a blank. “I don’t think I’ve anything to warrant surprise or implicate you in President Mo’s anger.”
Mo Yu smiled helplessly. “You may not be the death of him, but he would gladly lay down his life for you.”
Meng Yue frowned. “Forgive me for my ignorance, but I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
Mo Yu remained smiling as he gazed towards President Mo’s office on the top floor.
At that moment, Mo Hanchen was leaning against the floor-to-ceiling window and looking at them.
Meng Yue followed Mo Yu’s gaze.
She had been to Mo Hanchen’s office before. Even though she could not see the figure clearly, she was almost certain he was eyeing them.
Mo Yu looked away, smirking cheekily. “You aren’t dumb, yet your ability to judge people seems lacking.”
Xiang Haoyu was an example, and Mo Hanchen was another. The former was a filthy scumbag, while the latter was petty and full of schemes.
Meng Yue paused, not knowing how to respond. Eventually, she began, “Special Assistant Mo…”
Mo Yu came back to his senses and quickly apologised. “I’m sorry; I didn’t mean it that way.”
A frown marred her features. “What do you mean?”
With complete seriousness, Mo Yu said, “I deserved to be beaten that time because I forgot to tell President Mo that his father-in-law was around.”
Mo Yu excused himself as soon as he delivered that cryptic message.
A thousand different emotions warred. Meng Yue panicked, grew flustered, and even her ears turned red.
Father-in-law?
It was too early!
Meng Yue quickly departed soon after.

Meanwhile…
Mo Yu, who had just stepped out of the elevator, was beaten up by Mo Hanchen again!
Mo Yu lay sprawled on the carpet, looking like he was on the verge of death.
“Master, you can’t bully your subordinates like this!”
Mo Hanchen put on his suit jacket, saying, “I’m not bullying you; I’m educating you. You shouldn’t tease another man’s woman. Please learn the proper etiquette in dealing with women.”
Mo Yu felt wronged. “Master, you can’t be feeling jealous of me after one short interaction with Miss Meng, can you?”
“Is there a problem?” Mo Hanchen asked.
Mo Yu chuckled. “If me talking to Miss Meng is enough to make you jealous, you’ll die of jealousy if someone snatches her from your clutches.”
“What do you mean?” Mo Hanchen pressed.
Mo Yu danced around the question and said, “I want a week’s holiday!”
Mo Hanchen raised an eyebrow. “Granted!”
Mo Yu scrambled to his feet, picking up his discarded jacket as he was about to leave.
“Miss Meng’s neck was rather red when I saw her off earlier.” He stopped at the door as he spoke. Based on his many years of experience in the ways of love, Mo Yu concluded that someone must have touched her.
Mo Hanchen’s expression immediately darkened.
Mo Yu decided to fuel the fire by adding, “Her skin looked like it broke in a few places. I’m not sure how that happened…”
Mo Yu stepped out of the office, having said his piece, leaving Mo Hanchen in a daze.
Not long after, Mo Hanchen gave Wang Ming a call. “I’ll deal with Xiang Haoyu myself!”
When Mo Hanchen and Wang Ming arrived at the hospital, Xiang Haoyu discussed how to deal with Mo Hanchen and the Moyun Group with his lawyer.
Xiang Haoyu, lying on the sofa in his private room, sat a little straighter when Mo Hanchen pushed open the door and entered. It was an unconscious reaction that could not fool anyone.
Xiang Haoyu was afraid of Mo Hanchen.
Or at least, the pain he currently felt made him fear what Mo Hanchen could do to him.
“What are you doing here?”
Xiang Haoyu’s words were harsh, but his actions carried none of the bite that his words did. He shrank into the sofa, trying to make himself as small as possible. “How dare you come here after what you did to me! Just you wait; I’ll sue you till you go bankrupt!”
The lawyer Xiang Haoyu consulted was so shocked to learn that the man standing before him was Mo Hanchen that he stood up.
“President Mo! I’ve long heard of your great name!”
Mo Hanchen smiled and nodded. “There’s nothing to worry about. I may beat people up, but I don’t eat them.”
He glanced at Wang Ming, who stood by the door as he spoke.
Wang Ming entered the room upon receiving Mo Hanchen’s signal. “You must be Lawyer Chen! President Mo would like a quick word in private with President Xiang. Could you join me outside for a moment?”
Wang Ming did not give Lawyer Chen a chance to refuse, half-dragging the man out of the room and sealing the door behind him.
Mo Hanchen was already on his feet, slowly stalking his prey.
Xiang Haoyu tried to flee, but Mo Hanchen punched him in the gut, driving the wind out of him. Xiang Haoyu dropped like a sack of potatoes.
“Mo Hanchen!”
Xiang Haoyu clutched his abdomen. He felt as if all his organs had turned to mush in a horrific stew of pain.
“You!”
Mo Hanchen sneered, grabbing Xiang Haoyu by his collar, the latter screaming for help.
“I overheard you and your lawyer discussing how you’d like to sue me to death. Is that right?”
Xiang Haoyu’s face was pale from the pain, but he answered honestly. “Yes. I’m going to sue you till you’re behind bars!”
Mo Hanchen laughed like he had heard the best joke in a long time. “Is that so?”
Xiang Haoyu’s eyes gleamed viciously. “Are you waiting for her to get the divorce? Ha! Dream on!”
“I’d rather toy with her till she’s crippled than divorce her. Just give up,” Xiang Haoyu crowed.
Mo Hanchen’s eyes were pinpricks of obsidian, two void-swallowing holes upon hearing Xiang Haoyu’s declaration.
Xiang Haoyu saw the look that passed over Mo Hanchen and instantly felt joy.
“Mo Hanchen, I’d rather die than help you two get together!”
Pushed passed his bottom line, Mo Hanchen acted. He punched Xiang Haoyu in the stomach again. The force of Mo Hanchen’s strike was so great that it sent Xiang Haoyu flying from the sofa to the window, slamming into the wall and collapsing in a heap on the ground.
“Mo Hanchen, I’ll kill you!”
