Chapter 37 Day One
— South City.
Jia Jia Neighborhood District.
This was the most dilapidated residential area in South City. Auntie Nan ran out of one of the buildings.
There were tears in the corners of her wrinkled eyes. She held an old-fashioned flip phone in one hand and a canvas bag in the other as she ran out.
It wasn’t until she reached the square near the city Public Security Bureau that she stopped and sat on the concrete ladder to catch her breath.
She ran for two hours. Her back was wet, and even her hair was messy.
She couldn’t read and couldn’t take the bus. She could only ask questions as she wandered around. She looked at the Public Security Bureau not far away, and gaze was a little listless.
She suddenly felt a little sad.
During half of her life, the changes in the city and the countryside were too big.
She got up and continued to walk towards the Public Security Bureau. Her skinny legs that were as thin as bamboo swayed in the not-so-wide legs of her gray pants. Her hands were holding the phone tightly and protecting the canvas bag.
She first raised her head to look at the big Public Security Bureau sign. She didn’t recognize those big words, but only confirmed it when she saw the icon.
“I want to report a case. I want to report a case.” Aunt Nan, her gaze imploring, held the hand of a police officer.
“Gee! Ma’am, don’t be anxious. Come with me.” The police officer saw that Aunt Nan was anxious, so he quickly brought her inside.
An hour later, Aunt Nan came out of the Public Security Bureau and began to walk back.
She returned to the community and returned to the apartment she had rented. It was a small room only two meters long and one meter wide.
In the corner was a bag of dried buns and a bucket of tap water. On the ground, there were some clothes and an old, gray quilt.
She had picked up this quilt beside a trash can.
Seeing that it was getting dark outside, she ate a dry bun and drank two mouthfuls of water from the bucket. After resting for a while, she carried the canvas bag and took the snake skin bag out of the door.
During the day, she wasn’t allowed to go through the trash can to pick up bottles, so she did it at night. The trash collector was just across the residential area.
North City, Vicas Hotel.
Liu Qi was reading the script seriously. She practiced while reading, and she didn’t notice when Shen Nanxiao returned.
“Young Master, Miss Liu has been reading for the whole day. She doesn’t even have time for lunch,” Lan Lan said to Shen Nanxiao with a bowl of meat porridge in her hand.
“Give it to me.” Shen Nanxiao walked to Liu Qi’s side with the porridge in his hand. He took away her script and said in a commanding tone, “Eat.”
“Huh? Shen Nanxiao, give it back to me first! I’m about to finish the last paragraph!”
“Be good!”
2 am.
Rumble! Rumble! Crack!
Thunder bellowed and lightning flashed..
A little white cat ran to her feet. Liu Qi picked up the little cat happily. “You’re so obedient.”
“Meow-“
In just a moment, the kitten in her arms changed. Its right eye was a bloody hole that kept seeping blood out. Its white fur was dyed wet red.
Liu Qi suddenly woke up and sat up in a panic. Her heart raced.
At this moment, the muffled sound of thunder entered her ear, and it scared her.
However, the thunder only stopped for a while before it sounded again.
“Shen Nanxiao! I want to sleep with you, Shen Nanxiao!”
Liu Qi knocked on the door. In a few seconds, the door opened and she fell into the man’s arms.
“Shen Nanxiao, I’m scared!” Liu Qi hugged the man’s waist tightly with her hands clasped.
Shen Nanxiao felt suffocated. He patted the little girl’s back gently and comforted her, “Don’t be scared. It’s just thunder.”
“I want to sleep with you!”
“Go back to the room. I’ll watch you sleep, okay?” The man comforted her softly.
Liu Qi shook her head profusely. “No, I want to sleep with you.”
“Be good. We still…” Before Shen Nanxiao could finish, the little girl in his arms had already crawled into the room from under him.
Like a rabbit, she crawled onto the bed and only revealed a pair of big eyes while staring at him.
The man took a deep breath while feeling rather helpless.
This night was very peaceful, at least Liu Qi thought so.
It was just that the man beside her didn’t sleep the whole night.
When she was asleep, her legs would occasionally wrap around the man’s waist, and her feet kept kicking around.
7 am.
Liu Qi woke up, but Shen Nanxiao was no longer in bed, and the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
She muttered, “Why are you taking a shower so early in the morning?”
After getting out of bed, Liu Qi tiptoed on the floor and carefully approached the bathroom. Just as she approached the bathroom door, the sound of running water stopped.
She was feeling puzzled when suddenly, the door opened from the inside!
The man had his chest exposed and he had wrapped himself in a towel. He looked down at her from above, and there was a hint of ridicule in his tone. “What do you want to
do?”
Liu Qi blushed. She said righteously, “I… I just want to see what you’re doing! Can’t I?”
After breakfast, her assistant, Wang Chun, came to pick her up. He didn’t say anything to her and just told her not to be nervous.
But she was really unlucky today. She was stuck in traffic halfway and was late to the set..
“Director Li, I’m sorry. I was stuck in traffic.”
Liu Qi felt very apologetic, but Li Minghua didn’t blame her. Instead, he said politely, “It’s okay. It’s good that you’re here.”
However, when the second female lead, Zhou Yun, saw that Liu Qi was here, she rolled her eyes at her in disdain.
She sneered and said, “She’s just a newbie. She thinks she’s a big shot, but she’s just relying on other people’s support.”
Wang Chun was afraid that Liu Qi and Zhou Yun would quarrel, so he whispered into Liu Qi’s ear and said, “Zhou Yun is an artist under Donghua Film & TV Agency, and Donghua is currently the largest film and television company in the country.”
Wang Chun was hinting to her not to cause trouble for Shen Nanxiao.
Liu Qi knew that she was in the wrong, so she didn’t have any intention to argue. She just said sorry to everyone.
“Take Miss Liu downstairs to change her clothes…”
After Liu Qi left with the staff, Zhou Yun said impatiently, “Director Li, if Liu Qi can’t do it, won’t she delay everyone’s progress?”.
“We’ll see whether she can do it or not later. Please calm down. This is President Shen’s subordinate,” Li Minghua said with an embarrassed smile while trying to use Shen Nanxiao to calm Zhou Yun down.
However, when Zhou Yun heard this, she became even angrier.
The first scene was where the female lead, the eldest daughter of the Gu family, slipped and fell into the water. The second daughter, Gu Qinghua, didn’t save her, causing the death of the female lead. Then, she was possessed by a transmigrator.
However, the person who played Gu Qinghua was Zhou Yun.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll go back first.” Gu Qinghua’s persona was a girly and fragile young lady from an aristocratic family.
“Stop! Why are you running? Are you afraid of me?” Liu Qi pointed at Zhou Yun and held her head high. Regardless of whether it was her facial expression or her tone, it was consistent with the original character’s personality.
“I’m afraid of you?” Perhaps Zhou Yun was provoked, but she turned around and pushed Liu Qi.
“Cut!” The director hurriedly shouted to stop!
After Liu Qi struggled for a while, she swam to the shore on her own.
Li Minghua was immediately a little displeased. He said to Zhou Yun, “She was supposed to slide down in this scene, instead of being pushed by you. Did you read the script or not?”
“Director Li, I made a mistake just now. I’m sorry.” Zhou Yun’s perfunctory response denied the fact that she pushed Liu Qi into the water out of anger.
However, Li Minghua didn’t really want to pursue the matter. He just wanted to show Liu Qi that he rebuked her for it.
Liu Qi swam up from the water herself. Fortunately, she knew how to swim, but when she wasn’t paying attention, she swallowed a big mouthful of water. The taste of the water was a little disgusting and made her want to throw up.
Liu Mianmian quickly helped her up with a worried look on her face. “Sister Qi, are you okay?”
“I’m fine!” Liu Qi raised her head and only glanced at Zhou Yun. She didn’t say anything.
She thought inside, little b*tch, you’re dead meat!
