Chapter 29 - Which One Is Real?

Ethan was busy sucking in Sui's tender lips into his mouth and enjoying their sweetness. He never knew kissing a girl could make him feel so good, but at the same time, he was happy to feel her passionate love.

However, just a few dozen meters away, the mysterious woman in the spandex suit couldn't stand the sight of them kissing, and with vengeful eyes, she threw the dagger in their direction, shooting through the air like a bullet.

Sui, who was enjoying her kiss, suddenly opened her eyes with a dark frown as she extended her right arm to the side.

Ethan felt her getting distracted and opened his eyes only to be shocked to see her arm extended towards the side while holding the blade of a dagger between her fingertips.

"Sui?" Ethan mumbled in a confused tone, wondering where this dagger came from.

"Get behind me, Ethan! This woman is here to kill us," Sui quickly pulled back a confused Ethan, and right at that moment, he saw a woman in a sexy spandex suit coming out from behind the stairs with a half-face mask.

And before Ethan could realize what was going on, the mysterious woman suddenly flashed forward at an inhuman speed…her body moving like a blur, and his eyes were unable to keep up with her movements.

But something more shocking happened as Sui, who was in front of him, also zoomed forward, moving like a blur, just like the mysterious woman.

Within just a second, the two closed a couple of meters between them and clashed in the middle, a ripple of energy spreading through all sides.

Ethan blinked his eyes as he saw two blurry figures clashing in the middle with sparks, and the sounds of blades clashing against each other echoed continuously.

'Sui…is a Divergent too?...' Ethan didn't know how to feel as he realized this. Was she also involved in this cosmic business? When did it all begin, and how did he not notice anything?

But right now, he didn't have the luxury to think about them since the clash between the two was so intense, Ethan could feel how powerful their attacks were and was worried for Sui, wondering if she was going to be alright by fighting against this mysterious woman.

He wanted to help, but the fight between these two was so fast he felt helpless, and this was ignoring the energy ripples that had enough power to make him stay back. The ripples were even creating cracks on the pillars and the ground, making him realize their fight was on a different level, and if he interfered, he might only be a burden for Sui.

Still, he had no plans in simply sitting still and quickly looked around for any metal objects.

However, whatever he looked at was too big for him to control, and at this moment, he really wished he at least had a chain that he used to take down the thieves. At least, it was the most versatile and convenient tool he was able to use so far with his powers.

*Boom!*

A powerful boom echoed as the mysterious woman was sent flying a few meters and smashed against a giant pillar as she crashed on the floor, right beside Ethan.

Her silky red lips were bleeding as she slowly turned her face to look at Ethan.

Ethan's expression froze when he finally got a clear look at her face. Of course, he wasn't able to figure out her face because of the mask, but her eyes were a glimmering blue, and those eyes looked familiar for some reason, and he wondered if he was just imagining it.

They looked exactly the same as…impossible!

"Ethan…" The mysterious woman mumbled softly as she continued to stare at him while clutching her stomach, "...run…She is a…"

'It can't be…' Hearing her sweet yet cool voice, Ethan's eyes widened.

"Just die already!" Sui coldly shouted as she zoomed forward with a bloodied dagger in her hand, aiming to puncture it through the mysterious woman's heart.

"Sui, wait!" Something came over Ethan as he instinctively extended his hand to stop the metal blade from piercing the mysterious woman's heart.

Sui suddenly found her hand get stuck in the air, just a few cms away from the masked woman's heart.

"Ethan…let go before she kills us both…" Sui said with gritted teeth as she looked at him.

Ethan was grimacing as holding back Sui seemed to be way harder than he thought, and he felt as if every bone in his body was creaking under the pressure of exerting his energy.

But looking at her, he wondered if she always had such a bloodthirsty side. Her expression was wild and cold, her eyes filled with a feverish glare.

Of course, he had seen Sui angry, but not like this. Whenever she became angry, it would be hard to notice it unless one gets their ass kicked by her. But the Sui he was looking at seemed to be very desperate and had a very vicious look in her eyes.

It was as if he was looking at a…different side of Sui he was unable to recognize. However, he still remembered the kiss he shared with her, and her feelings for him seemed to be overflowing with passion and love.

However, he couldn't also forget the blue eyes of the masked woman and especially her voice and the way she called out his name. This made a shocking realization dawn on him, but it did nothing to lessen his confusion!

Ethan had never felt so confused before in his life. His mind was telling him to do one thing while his heart was telling him to do another.

"Stay…away from him!" The mysterious woman spoke in a stone-cold tone as she grabbed Sui's hand and gave a lightning-fast punch at her face, sending her flying by a few feet.

"Sui!" Ethan felt his heart leap seeing her getting violently hit like that, especially because he was distracting her. But a hand grabbed his wrist from the side, and it was none other than the masked woman who removed her mask, making Ethan's breath freeze.

"S-Sui??"

"We have to run. That is my deviant version, and I can't defeat her," Sui suddenly grabbed a confused and stunned Ethan by his wrist and zoomed away from the Deviant Sui, their figures disappearing like a blur.

The Deviant Sui slowly stood straight as she stared ahead at the empty subway station with a cold blood gaze. She put her hand into her handbag as she took out two sharp knives and mumbled in a cutting tone, "Nobody can ever outrun me," Her expression then turned into a besotted one as she continued, "Ethan…just hold on…I will bring you home soon…"

As she said this, her eyes glowed brightly for a split second as her figure suddenly disappeared from the spot leaving behind an ear rendering sonic boom, smashing the nearby pillars to smithereens.

Meanwhile, Sui dragged Ethan over the dark subway lines and hid in a small and dark opening on the walls, just small enough for the two to squeeze into the closed space.

Sui knew there was no point in simply running forward since this was an abandoned subway station, and it was a dead-end ahead surely.

All she could hope was to stay hidden with Ethan till backup arrived.

Ethan was trying his best to even breathe as silently as possible, seeing how serious and vigilant Sui was about not getting caught by her deviant version. He still was finding it hard to come to terms that he met her doppelganger…or a deviant version at that.

He couldn't understand what was actually going on, but he was now sure that the Sui whom his body was pressed up against in this closed space was surely the Sui he had known for these past five years.

Their faces were barely a few inches away from each other, and Ethan didn't know what to say as he saw her glimmering blue eyes staring at him expressionlessly. If it was any other situation, he would have appreciated a moment like this. But right now, he was concerned about more important things.

He noticed her breathing was a bit labored and looked down to see dark dried blood on her spandex suit, especially near her stomach region where she was using her hand to prevent her injury from profusely bleeding. It seemed as if she got stabbed by the Deviant Sui, and her face was flushed and a bit pale as well.

Ethan pointed at her wound as he gestured, indirectly telling her that she needed immediate medical attention, but Sui, who was able to guess his thoughts, pressed her finger against his lips as she shook her head, making Ethan's expression become complicated and pained.

*Whoosh!*

Suddenly, the sound of air being cut through by a body echoed in the dark tunnel as Ethan heard someone arriving in the tunnel and could see a slender shadow on the walls of the tunnel.

"Ethan, don't worry.. I will save you from her, and then we can be together forever," These passionate words echoed in the tunnel, and who could it be other than the Deviant Sui who had arrived in this tunnel after following the blood trails left behind by Sui.
