Sandra rolled her eyes on her when she grabbed Roy's arm. She wanted it to happen, and now that she succeeded, she quickly caressed her temple and pretended to be sick.
"What's wrong? You looked pale." Sebastian asked her but little did he knew, Halora heard everything that urged her to leave with Roy.
He was not pretending. He sincerely felt pity for Sandra for the first time. He narrowed his eyes, held her hands which gave her the opportunity, and had fooled him.
"Ahhh, my head suddenly hurts! C– can you help me to go back to the cottage?" She looked intently into his eyes, pleaded, and begged until Sebastian tilted his head.
He agreed with her request but the moment he lifted his head, Halora was far away from his sight.
Guilt drew to his face but letting her go with Roy was the best decision he had made. It was not for his selfishness but because he wanted to protect her from anyone.
He gasped, carried Sandra like she was his bride. Her long, thin shining pink dress was blown by the cold breeze as he walked slowly with guilt.
"T– thank you for saving me than Halora."
"You don't have to thank me. I know you're only pretending to be sick, right?"
Out of the blue, Sandra suddenly felt frightened of the way he talked about her acting skills. She knew he was such an intelligent, wise young man but weak when it came to English and Mathematics.
She gulped, looked into the calm sea as she remained speechless. She was nervous that he might break her bones into pieces when he finds out that she had lied.
To cover up her mistakes, Sandra closed her eyes and screamed horribly. She hit her head, but he stopped her right away.
"Don't hurt yourself just because you're doomed." He reminded her.
Took a deep breath and blamed himself for what happened between the two girls earlier.
"Forgive me, Halora. I hope one day, you will understand why I have to do this." At the back of his head, he whispered that nobody could hear it.
As they arrived at the cottage, he slowly put her down and took a glass of water. He handed it over to her without even a single word.
"I– if you want to enjoy the heat of the sun, you're free enough to do so. You don't have to treat me like I am your patient."
"Don't tell me what to do, young lady."
Cold and mysteriously, Sebastian stood outside of the cottage. His hands were in his pocket as he peacefully looked at somewhere far and distant.
He then took off his phone from his pocket, tapped the screen until an old photograph of a young girl flaunted.
"W– what truly happened to you, Cassia? Why didn't you come back to the cemetery that day?"
His heart suddenly filled with longing and misery. For all his life, he has never seen such a girl with a lot of potentials despite being miserable and abandoned by the whole world.
"I've been searching for you around yet, I ended up getting nothing. I wondered if you're still alive or already dead...,"
Behind him, Sandra covered her mouth, took a deep breath, and acted like she didn't hear it.
She then combed her hair with her fingers, smiled bitterly, and cleared her throat. "The sun is shining too bright, isn't it? I've been hoping for this day to come and I'm too happy because of you, Sebastian."
Tears shone to her eyes, clasped her hands, and put it into her chest. "If only I can tell my heart who should I love to until the rest of my life, I will never bother you."
"And why are you pestering me? I know you were the one who sent hundreds of gifts since before I transferred to our school."
Expensive perfumes, limited editions of popular clothing brands, and shoes were only a few of her gifts. Sandra even wanted to give him everything she has even her allowance.
She was hopelessly waiting for him to give back the same feeling she felt towards him. But even the whole world collapsed, he will never love her.
"I'm sorry for doing that, but if you don't mind me asking, I realized that I was too desperate to get your attention. But in the end, I was ended up being left and not being chosen."
Sebastian suddenly felt pity for her. He knew how it felt like and he loathed those men who hurt and slipped away the girl who truly cared and loved them to death.
Despite her flaws and childish actions, he lifted his hand and rubbed her back to ease the pain within her heart.
And by that moment, Halora came back to the cottage and accidentally saw them sweet together.
She bowed her head, looked straight to the way, and quickly walked inside and grabbed her grab.
But the moment she held it, she felt someone's presence behind her.
"C– can we talk?" spoke Sandra and looked down at the white, fine sand. "I... I just want to say sorry for what I've said earlier. I know I shouldn't have to behave that way, I hope you will forgive me once again."
Halora widened her eyes when she realized that Sandra cried silently. She looked worried as she might be blamed for making her cry.
She quickly waved her hands, shook her back and forth, and said, "You did nothing wrong, Sandra, and please, don't be sorry because I understand."
"T– thank you so much for trusting me! I... I promise I will never do that thing all over again even on campus!"
"I... I believe in you, Sandra and I hope this time, you will keep your promises and never get into trouble with me."
"I promise. So, friends forever?"
At that time, Halora glanced at the man who stood behind Sandra. She felt betrayed by the person she had trusted, but she remembered that she has no right to loath and hate him.
Until a wide yet bitter smile flaunted on her face, "F– friends." Halora mumbled until she felt cold, skinny arms at her back.
