Surprisingly, behind Roy, Sandra, Halora and Sebastian appeared out of nowhere holding a cake with candles on the top of it.
It was Halora's plan as she never forgot her best friend's birthday. She then used half of her pocket money to buy a cake as her present.
From a far, they heard that he was talking with someone on the phone. Yet, they continued walking and on the count of three, they sang the happy birthday song.
"Happy birthday, man. Make a wish before you blow all the candles." said Sebastian who lit all ten small candles on the top of the chocolate cake.
He then smiled, tapped his shoulders as he closed his eyes and made a wish.
"Woah! Blow off the candles now!"
"Let me help you, Roy!" Sandra volunteered and she blew all the candles instead of the celebrant. "Happy birthday to my cold, sweet, caring and protective cousin! Here's my present for you."
Sebastian took out something from his pocket. Along the way back to the hotel, he saw a small shop and saw an ancient watch made up of gold that was invented a decade ago.
It must be for Halora but the moment he heard that today was Roy's birthday, he decided to give up on it and used it as his simple present.
He looked at his eyes for a second, tapped his shoulder and he said, "Take this simple present as I wasn't prepared for your birthday."
But Roy knew that it was not just as simple as it is. It was a pure gold, and he felt that it can be sold for a higher bid.
Yet, he gave him a buddy kind of smile after a long, long time. He accepted his peculiar gift for him as he replied, "Come on, man! We both know that I can sell this watch for millions of dollars."
"Give that to me if you only planned to sell it!" Sandra quickly said that made everyone burst into laughter.
And for the last, Halora avoided hi gaze as she felt guilty for having a common gift. She then looked at the ground, held the cake carefully.
"How about you, Halora? What did you brought for your best friend?"
"Stop it, Sandra!" said Roy.
She rolled her eyes, took a bottle of soda as she stood and watched at them like they were the leading characters on a movie.
"I'm sorry, I can't afford any material thing... so I... I brought this chocolate cake for you as my gift!" she told him. "Here."
Halora smiled shortly as she felt small in front of rich people like the three of them. She was a nobody that trying to be fit to a society where she doesn't belong.
But all of the negativity disappeared when she saw a genuine smile on his lips. "You brought this cake? Just for me?!"
Halora shook her head as an answer. "Thank you so much, Halora! I don't know what to do if I lose you!"
"Y– you are welcome."
At the same moment, a reckless, awkward confession was witnessed and heard certainly. But none of them ruined the juncture where they celebrated Roy's birthday.
Sandra quickly clapped her hands, diverted everyone's attention as she saw how Sebastian's reacted to Roy's actions and words.
"What are your waiting for? Let us celebrate and eat all of these!"
"She's right! Let's just eat and enjoy the cold, dark night." Roy said as he looked at Halora's scarlet face.
But instead of giving her all of his attention, he stood, reached for the beer and placed it beside him.
"Since the two of you are minors, you are not allowed to drink this. Do you understand? There's a lot of soda and you can drink all of it."
Roy opened two bottles of beer that has sever percent alcohol content. It was only for fun, and he has no plan of getting drunk on the day of his birthday.
As always, Sandra pouted her lips as she wanted to try it. She was turning eighteen next month and it would be a grandiose celebration of all times.
"What? I am turning eighteen next month, for heaven's sake!"
"I said no! I don't want to be responsible for anything this time around. So please, bear with me, my beautiful cousin."
Roy gave one of the bottle to Sebastian who silently listening to their argument. They looked like a cat and dog that would always fighting but end up caring for each other.
Sebastian smelled the alluring scent of it until he lifted it up and tasted it. He then sighed, savored the spicy splendor caused by the beer.
"Ahh, I love this one! Good taste of choosing drinks huh." said Sebastian as he picked a piece of chicken.
But he realized that Halora picked another one too as he felt her fingers inside of the bucket. "Here." He gave to her the big piece and took the smaller one.
Halora smiled shortly as she bowed her head and felt a little bit shy. "T– thank you!"
Sebastian was hypnotized by her sweet, ensnaring smile. He looked at her face for a moment as Sandra cleared her throat that caught his attention.
"Hmm, this chicken is so delicate! The meat is too tender and I even tasted a pinch of both salt and pepper! What do you think, Halora?"
She looked at her because of awe. She didn't had the chance to savor the taste of the chicken as she was silently avoiding Sebastian's stare who looked and tried to catch her gaze.
"I have the same thought too, but there's one thing that you forgot to mention..."
"Sounds interesting, huh. Well, anyway, what is the thing that I missed?"
Sebastian and Roy stopped from what they were doing as they waited for Halora's answer. Both of them knew that she was one of the most outstanding scholars at the entire campus.
Roy gulped, licked his lower lip as he felt that it became dry and arid. While Sebastian looked at her round, big brown eyes that glowed up even in the dark.
"The passion, the love of cooking it... that makes it delicate and unique." She simply stated that dazed everyone especially Sandra.
