Chapter 169 - 169: Face Me Dauntlessly

Halora bit her lips as soon as she heard the news. She quickly jumped off the bed, searched for the mysterious ring that she found at Sebastian's room months ago.

She knew it became part of her life but if it was the only thing they needed, she was willing to sacrifice herself and give it up to save hundreds of students who was in vain.

"Where is it? I... I put it on this drawer!" She searched for the ring on every drawer near at the side table. As far as she remembered, she put the ring on a small box and kept it on the last drawer in her room.

She began to hurry when her phone rang so loudly and alarming. She could even heard the noise that came from her chest while she looked at the caller on the screen.

Without any second thought, Halora took a deep breath and she said, "Hello, who's this?" Her voice became too shallow because of the nervousness she felt. "Hello, w– who's this?" she repeated the question.

Until she heard students yelling, screaming and asking for help. There were even silent whimper that almost tear her heart apart.

After a long silence, she heard the caller's hollow voice. "H– Halora, it's me, Zenith! I just called to remind you that Sebastian will be mad if you'll push it through! I... I know you want to save us all, but don't you worry, we are safe now because of the cops who rescued us!"

To her surprise, Halora stood and widened her eyes in awe. After all of her prayers, her one greatest wish had finally came true.

But she knew, she was born because of something important that she have to accomplish. It must be the unfinished business of her parents who didn't tell her about.

And now that she heard a good, fulfilling news, Halora sighed in relief. "I... I p– promise, I... I won't go anywhere and I'll just stay here in my room." she said in a calm tone.

Zenith, on the other line smiled widely as she seated inside of the police car. She was one of the students who hid in a classroom and luckily, they were all safe and unscathed.

"Stop worrying now, Halora. Everyone are safe and according to the head officer, no one left inside of the school premises. Do you understand?"

As the situation turned to be wonderful as what the authorities hoped for, Zenith felt something terrible at the moment.

Her heart thumped too fast, her knees trembled and before she could even say goodbye to Halora, a terrifying gunfire echoed around that provoked the people to hysterical and ran out for their lives.

Halora heard it clearly as she almost fell into the floor. For a second, her body and mind stopped functioning, and her lips turned pale.

As soon as she came back to her senses, she said, "Zenith? Please, answer me!" she scowled. "Hello? Hello, are you still there?"

Unfortunately, the call ended up abruptly that left Halora with no choice. She looked at window, noticed some people outside of the house and far from what she expected, someone threw stones that landed right into the window.

"What was that?" she asked in fear. And the moment she stooped closer to the window, she realized that the people gathered outside were related to the students who were hostage by the witches.

She hurriedly closed all the windows, covered it with curtains. She was breathing heavily but Halora didn't give up on finding the ring.

It's now or never, and if the day passed by, she would regret it for the rest of her life. Until she remembered where she hid the box.

"At the closet!"

As quick as the hare, Halora ran into the closer where she put the box that contained the powerful ring. As she panicked, on the right corner, she felt a hard, solid square thing.

"Here you go!" she said with a wide, yet bitter smile on her lips when she took the box out from it.

Every second, every minute matters the most. And in the middle of crisis and danger, Halora didn't waste any of it as she opened the box and a glimmering ring surprised her.

She gasped, took the ring out of it and placed it on her ring finger. "I'm sorry, Sebastian. But this time around, I am not the weak Halora who was once saved by a knight shining armor. On this day, I'll be brave enough to face my fears alone!"

Right then on, with a pair of sleep wear and slippers, Halora ignored the cracks in the windows, the screams of the people in favade of the house as she went into the back door.

No one would seem to notice her as they gathered in the main gate. Luckily, she escaped from the angry relatives, parents and siblings who put the blame on her without knowing the real reasons behind.

Along the way, as she covered her face, and avoided the crowd, Halora thought that it wass only waste of time if she would just walk to school.

Fortunately, as she crossed the other way, a black car suddenly stopped right in front of her. She was hopelessly looking for a taxi but out of nowhere, a luxurious and suspicious car almost blocked her way.

She said confidently, "I'm sorry, but I don't have time with this! I am in a hurry and if it's nothing to do with me, just leave me alone."

Little did she knew, inside of the car, a young, fine man seated on the driver's seat who has been waiting for her.

He gasped, opened the door and showed himself to Halora who looked surprised and at the same time filled with hope and happiness.

Before he uttered a word, he winked at her and said, "What are you waiting for? Get into the car, now!"

Damara laughed hardly when her plans turned out to be perfectly fine and smooth. As her body shivered because of pain she only created, the cops guarded her before she could escape.

"I know you'll show yourself and face me dauntlessly this time around," she thought, faced the ground and acted weak and vulnerable until a terrible gunfire sounded off around the campus.
