Chapter 232 - 232: Her Escort And The Chosen Heroine

Halora never thought that she was capable of doing extraordinary like manipulating a broomstick through words.

She never read how to do it but effortlessly, she made it in front of everyone.

Gasping for more air, she turned her head at Jasmine. Halora was about to ask her when she realized that she wasn't moving.

"W- what is going on?" she asked herself anxiously.

Her heartbeat was too fast like she was chased by evil spirits. Her knees weakened when she saw all of the students around and a leaf that floated in the air.

"The time suddenly stopped!"

Jumbled and afraid, Halora blinked her eyes countless times. She didn't know what to do until the broomstick suddenly stood on its own before her eyes.

It was surreal but she was surprised at the same moment. "Wow! I thought it was not true!" she exclaimed and cherished every moment.

"Good day, Halora! It's me Gory, your new best friend. From now on, I will always be right here with you."

"A… a broomstick can speak that too fast?"

Halora couldn't believe it. A broomstick spoke fluently like a human like her. It was completely out of her imagination that made her feel dizzy.

"Gory is a faithful servant, and Gory must save Halora from the evil witch."

"Evil witch?"

Gory agreed to her and it said, "Damara shall not hurt my Young Master. Damara must be killed by the chosen witch and it's you who can defeat her, Halora."

It was a serious, deep conversation but Halora must not use her ability in her personal life. The time should be running or the whole world would suffer.

She said, "I am sorry, Gory but I have to go by now! I have something to do but don't worry, I will bring you with me!"

Halora suddenly remembered about the party but she couldn't on her own without Jasmine. She was freezing and every student who gathered at the wide field.

"Gory must not leave Halora's side. He must stay with you wherever you go."

She has no idea but to agree with him, otherwise, she can't attend Maxine's birthday party.

"But, how can I manipulate the time?"

Right at the moment, Gory twirled around that caused a howling, strong wind. It happened too fast and all of the students gossiped, asked their friends what has happened.

"What happened? I though was asleep!" Jasmine asked herself when Halora grabbed her hands while the broomstick suddenly healed on its own and floated in the air like an airplane.

She narrowed her eyes, looked behind at Johnny who was speechless at the moment.

"Let's go! Johnny failed to make it." she giggled mischievously that muddled Jasmine who couldn't still get over of everything.

Halora took a deep breath and she said, "Come on, Jas! I don't have yet a dress to wear and a pair of stilettos!"

"What? You are dragging me now because of that? Come on, Halora! You know I can do that thing and today, I will be your fairy god mother."

She covered her mouth in awe and pretended to be surprise. "I am grateful having you as my friend, Jas!"

"Why are you saying that thing now? You're acting strange, Halora." Jasmine began to question her strange actions but it was not the right place to tell her about Gory.

Halora shrugged off her shoulders and pulled her out from the campus and leave Johnny in despair when the crowd hated him for his arrogant actions.

However, the moment they reached the exit, Halora saw Markus who was standing straight by himself. She knew what it was all about yet, Kairos wasn't around.

She gulped, looked around and waved her hands on him that brought hundreds of questions to Jasmine. She seemed like a reporter who always interested of intriguing stories for headlines.

"Hey, I've been waiting for you." spoke Markus as his emerald eyes glowed and glinted.

"Johnny the fat boy makes a nonsense deal. In the end, he failed to be as the new campus bad boy, of course! In his worst nightmare!"

Suddenly, Markus walked towards them and giggled like a sweet, adorable young boy.

He replied, "I know everything and it's quite dramatic."

Jasmine burst into laughter that brought a light, beautiful ambiance around them. All out of a sudden, she craved for a cup of cappuccino because of an epic scene with Johnny.

She gasped and licked her lips for a second. "Oh, excuse me for a moment! I'll buy something hot that will warm my system and my mind!"

Markus and Halora shook their heads in agreement as they both chuckled and walked into Markus' car that was being parked outside of the campus.

He sighed, leaned back at the window as he glanced up at the warm sky. "Hmm, do you have plans for today, don't you?"

"Today? Hmm, Maxine's eighteenth birthday party. She invited me earlier and it was quite strange that she knew me already."

Markus took a deep breath and took something from his chest. It was an invitation given by Maxine earlier.

"I guess, I'll will see you at the party, Halora." he said as he smiled sweetly that flaunted his perfect, white set of teeth.

It was merely a coincidence that made her feel comfortable. The fear and intense feeling vanished suddenly and was replaced with an overwhelming happiness.

She giggled, hit his hard chest gently that startled Markus. He never expected something from her but her hands gave goosebumps and chilled his bones.

He knew she was taken by the campus bad boy but there was something inside that pushed him to ask Halora to be his companion at the party.

He gasped, secretly looked at her when she abruptly pouted her lips and put her index finger on her lips like a child.

She sighed heavily, "Hmm, but I feel uncomfortable going to the party but Jasmine said that nothing will happen because she's with me."

"If you want, I can be your companion and I will protect you from anyone. Do you understand?"

But Halora felt sad abruptly. If there was one person she wanted to be with, it would always Sebastian but, he wasn't around to ask her the same question.

With no choice, Halora shook her head as she laid her eyes on him.

"Oh, my escort is such a handsome, jaw-dropping man!" Halora said that made him smile too widely that he never did before.

Before Jasmine came back, Markus saw Kairos who suddenly showed out of nowhere. The three of them entered inside of his car while Kairos was breathing heavily.

He said, "We must keep the ring of darkness safe from Damara. According to my men, she gathered hundreds of adherents who were all willing to emerge forces with her."

"What do you mean? Are you saying that Damara is looking for the ring?" Markus asked him confusingly.

He knew about the two powerful rings that were made for the late Queen Hiraya of her beloved husband who was a strong pure blood wizard.

"When Damara escaped from the authorities, she took the ring of heaven with her and thought it was the ring she has been longing for."

Kairos was petrified knowing the enemy's abilities. He knew she was not a typical witch with peculiar magic. She was wiser than anyone else in the royal family.

All of Halora's question was answered since she met Kairos. She knew he was related to her parents but for now, it was not the priority.

"But the question is, where is the ring of darkness? Queen Herathesia must have kept it from her evil sister!"

Markus narrowed his eyes and waited for an answer. He glanced at Kairos who seemed problematic as even himself, he didn't know where is the ring of darkness.

For a second, Halora remained silent as she was afraid to tell the truth that she knew where it was kept for a long time.

It was an influential ring that would bring the human kind to the brink of death and darkness forever.

"How about you, Halora? Do you still remember something that you saw inside of your parents' room?"

"L- like an old box!" spoke Kairos that made her nervous and anxious at the same moment.

She wasn't sure if he was a trustworthy ally or an enemy who were only wearing a convincing mask.

Halora took an immediate actions secretly and trusted no one around her without their knowledge.

If there was one only person who would help her find and stop Damara from her evil, selfish ambitions; it would be herself and not someone else.

"Hey, you seemed uncomfortable."

Markus poked her shoulder that brought her back to her senses. Halora tried to catch her breath and acted like an innocent young woman.

Bitterly, she smiled at him and slightly nodded her head because of guilt. "I... I am sorry, I was carried away by my emotions. I was thinking how to find the ring of darkness too."

"You don't have to force yourself, Halora. Don't worry, at the meantime I will use my connection to gather information about it." Kairos said calmly. "Right now, you must keep yourself safe from Damara. Do you understand?"

"Y– yes, K– Ka– Kairos!" she replied although she wasn't sure of one thing.

However, the moment she met his gaze, she saw the same feeling everytime her father looked at her.

They looked the same and she felt comfortable with his presence. "Father!" she thought.

But it was all wrong, she never met him before and Halora didn't knew about his past life.

"Protect the chosen heroine, Markus. Our lives depend on Halora."

"I will until the rest of my life.." spoke Markus that brought fear to Halora's vulnerable heart.
