Chapter 186 - Euria Left A Letter

Episode 179-  Euria left a letter

While the Great Nobles were on their way to the Veria mountain, they witnessed many black flares that went off as well as many kind citizens that had moved their way for them to pass through. What was more shocking was citizens making one big block of wall and guarding the bottom of the Veria mountain. Naturally, the citizens moved away quickly when they saw their carriages.

Levis did not have the time to thank them, but Ron Graeme who came with them got off of the carriage and thanked the citizens in his stead.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Slow, heavy footsteps headed Eugene's ways. The only sounds in the hall were the ticking of the clock and these footsteps. Eugene did not care, bother, and didn't want to know who was walking in her direction.

Naturally, Eugene heard the footsteps, but she didn't want to bother looking or know whoever was coming her way. Her head was hung low to her knees when a pair of boots entered her vision through the gap between her arms and knees. The sound of footsteps also stopped when the boots appeared in front of her.

The person standing in front of Eugene didn't speak but neither did she. This silence went on for a full 10 minutes before the person who stood in front of her spoke first.

"Miss." The voice was cold, deep, but at the same time quiet.

"....."

"Comrade Eugeneia Veria," The man repeated.

"...."

When the man saw that Eugene was not reacting nor replying, he kneeled down in front of her and took out something from inside his jacket.

"Miss Euria left you a letter." He spoke softly as if he was trying to not get on Eugene's nerves. He presented Eugene with a very thick envelope and waited for her to reach for it.

Eugene took a while before she reacted. Ever since she ran together with the knights who carried Moniqua to the surgical room, she had not moved an inch from this spot and remained to guard Moniqua's room. But when Con spoke, her body reacted for the first time since. Her eyes stared at Con's hands before reaching over and taking the letter from him.

"..." Her mouth opened and closed as if wanting to say something but at the same time having no words to say. It took Eugene a moment to gather her thoughts, and when she gathered them, she asked, "Why… do you… have this with you?" She asked slowly with an incredibly hoarse voice.

Her voice made even Con flinch as it was the first time hearing her speak this weakly not to mention look this week. Con stared at Eugene with a complicated look and it took a while before he answered her.

"I made a deal," he confessed.

Eugene's eyes moved slowly from the thick envelope and met with Con's complicated eyes.

"Why you?"

Con said nothing but he appeared to be thinking deeply.

When he heard that a big incident occurred at the house of Veria, he immediately asked the Duke to take him with him even though their time was sensitive. But truth to be told, he had always been aware that such an incident would occur. He was aware that a big incident would happen one day and was prepared for the aftermath.

And the reason why he knew was that Euria had told him this personally. Back then when he asked her why or when this incident would occur, Euria told him that she didn't know when this incident would occur. As for why it will be to take her away. She had entrusted this letter to him and also told him to be by 'her' side when this incident occurs.

Which was why he was here now; to be by Eugene's side to entrust her this letter.

6 and a half years ago/ Zene's Palace, The forbidden room.

"Dea!! Dea… Don't close your eyes!"

Con lightly shook Dea on his shoulders as he rummaged through Dea's and his clothes for a clean cloth to stop the bleeding from Dea's abdomen. Dea had been stabbed by Sir Ario while he had his arm sliced off by Sir Ario.

Con couldn't give himself first aid, and could only try his best to stop Dea from bleeding heavily using only one hand. As for where his other hand went, he had no time to think of it as there were more pressing matters at hand.

-Cough- -Cough-

Con's eyes glanced back and forth between Dea's face and Dea's wound as he tried his best to talk to Dea to keep him awake.

"It's okay. Everything will be alright. Just don't close your eyes." He repeated, despite having a history of disliking talking.

However, Dea kept shaking his head and kept muttering words of apologies. Apologizing for getting them to this situation, and apologizing for being naive enough to trust Sir Ario.

"Don't apologize!" Con's voice was harsh, startling both himself and Dea. Because he felt bad, he repeated his words, this time sounding less harsh, "Stop apologizing. Please?" He begged as he tried to wrap Dea's wounds.

He didn't know when Levis and Moniqua arrived to help but he was very startled when someone crept up from behind without him realizing it.

"He will die." A young yet cold voice, belonging to a female, spoke out.

Con's natural reaction and instinct were to attack whoever was behind him. He attacked using the hand he used to press on Dea's wound. But surprisingly and shockingly, the one who caught his attack with ease was a small child with grey hair. At first, he thought that the child who could easily catch his attack was the eldest twin because of her grey hair, but when his hand relaxed and was brought down, he saw the face in front of him and froze in shock.

The pair of eyes was not grey but unexpectedly… red.

"M, Miss Euria?" He muttered from shock and speechlessness.

"He's not going to live long." Euria's words were insensitive. She appeared to not care for Con's feelings nor give hope to Dea.

"...." Con wanted to say something to refute her, but he wasn't one to confront anyone so he said nothing. He moved his eyes that were filled with disagreement to the floor.

"But I can save him."

Con was glaring at the floor when her words registered in his mind 5 seconds later, "W, what?" You can… what?

"I can save him." Euria's eyes moved from Dea to Con. "But there's a condition."

He didn't reply and only stared at him with nothing but a serious expression on his face.

"You must give up your life, your ambition, and your everything to live for my sister."

Con's eyebrows twitched. It was clear as day that Euria was playing with him so he did not reply to her. 'Live for my sister?' The only thing he got from her words was that she was obsessive over her Eldest sister.

"Think about it carefully." She warned when Eugene came over to help.

There was hopelessness in the soldier's voice as he attempted to help Dea. Because of this, he couldn't help but feel even lower. Like a devil, Euria's words made their way into his mind, as if inviting him to ask for her help. His instincts were telling him to cling to hope, even if it meant believing the words of a child.

All this while, many soldiers were telling him to get the help he needed. But it wasn't as if he couldn't hear them, but that getting help for Dea was more important.

"So, what will you do?" Euria asked him again. Her voice collided with the words that were repeating in his mind, causing him to clench his hands tightly.

And it was because of this, his eyes grew red and hot automatically. After all, there were still many things he wanted to convey to Dea. To thank Dea for everything he has given him even with his terrible introvert personality. There were still many things to do together and they still had a whole life ahead of them!

He couldn't possibly give up on Dea's life! Hence he decided to believe.

"Please!" Hee stared straight into Euria's red eyes that seemed to be observing his entire being. As if she saw through him and his being.

"I want him to live."

He was willing to do anything. He can even give up his life, ambitions, and whatever Euria wanted him to give up if it means Dea could live.

He would later come to find out that Dea's surgery was incredibly difficult and that there was no hope of saving Dea. He heard this because he was not asleep during his surgery to reattach his arm back. Just when he fell into another depth of despair, there was a commotion. Miraculously, Dea began to recover little by little.. Miraculously, his body was able to handle the intense surgery on him.
