Episode 222- How she died in her former life
Though she took it as they were unreliable, seeing their displicine and physical body in person, she must say that they were keeping up with their job and did a good job of staying active to stay fit.
"My hands are up," Eugene said calmly. Unbeknownst to her, her body was completely stained in blood and dirt. To add to that, her calm expression and red eyes did not help one bit towards making the soldiers feel relieved as they felt more threatened when her attention was on them.
"GET DOWN ON YOUR KNEES!" One of the soldiers threatened and motioned for her to kneel on the ground.
Eugene could not disobey as all 50 soldiers were pointing guns at her. Hence she got on her knees and kneeled down with her hands raised high.
Eugene kneeling down made the soldier realize that she wasn't an adult. Because without her height, she did not look like an adult. With speechlessness in his voice, he said, "You're a child?"
Eugene was going to deny it because she was actually 35, but she nodded. What she didn't know was that her nod was going to put her through a complicated situation and basically a hell hole of a time.
Eugene could see that the soldiers suddenly looked very panicked and that their guards were completely raised. However, she was unable to react to their reaction as her body began to feel incredibly tired and heavy. It was a familiar feeling that reminded her of when Ario exploded in front of her.
'Oh no.' Eugene shook her head to stay awake. She knew what was coming. Nausea crept up her abdomen and her body fell forward. Her arms propped herself up before she could fall as she tried to stay awake.
The soldiers were alarmed by her sudden movement and they all raised their guns at her.
Eugene tried her hardest to fight this feeling, to fight the darkness that inched closer and closer to her. Little by little, her head lowered to the ground until it eventually touched the ground.
"What's wrong with her?"
"Do you think she's faking it?"
"She's acting."
Many people were talking so much at the same time however Eugene could only hear them mumble. As to what they were saying, she did not understand. Eventually, her ears began to shut and no sounds entered through her ears. Her eyes were open, but her vision was completely black. She felt that there was no point in trying to fight the darkness that embraced her so she fell to the ground purposely. Her body was cushioned by the grass, and a bed of leaves wet with blood.
The smell of summer leaves was completely masked by the smell of iron. Everything was comfortable except for the smell. But what could she do? Nothing. Slowly, her eyes began to shut as she sank into the dark.
And as for what happened after that?
She didn't know. Before she realized it, she was being carried from place to place. She was being transported as if she was a pig waiting to be slaughtered. This wasn't a joke. Because she was given little to no assistance with her injuries, she truly felt like a pig and not a human being.
It remained like this even when she was put into a cell. At first, the soldiers tied her down to restrict her movement, however, because she was only conscious for 10 minutes a day, they took down the rope that restricted her and left her like that.
Naturally, the soldiers knew she wouldn't survive without food or water. So every day at the same time, the same soldier would come to her cell and feed her. He didn't say much at first and seemed to dislike his job of taking care of her, but after a while, he got used to it and began to feel sympathy for her. As such, he asked the person in charge if they could clean her, and improve her living condition; however his request was denied.
Sometime later, Eugene would end up in a real prison cell. The difference between her old cell and her new cell was that this cell was cold. So incredibly cold. Luckily Eugene was a winter person hence she didn't mind the coldness. What she did mind, however, was her awful stench. The smell on her body was so unpleasant that she didn't even want to wake up for 10 minutes a day.
There was also the pure exhaustion she felt even throughout her body even though she couldn't feel physical pain. Her breathing was always slow, and her body was too heavy to move.
She knew that it was because she was injured but also because she had overused her Occul. From healing Moniqua, destroying the green stones, adding a little trap to Euria's Occul, giving out her blood 2 times to heal people, and to inflicting her enemies with the worst pain, exhaustion had accumulated over time and was hitting her right now.
Accumulating 100 people's life forces might also be the reason why she felt exhausted. Overall, she overdid herself and was currently paying the price for it right now.
Euria's words made it seem like she would get stronger the more she killed. Strong was the opposite of what she was feeling currently but she knows that Euria told her the truth. That the more life forces she took, the stronger she will be. Which means, she did something wrong. Or maybe, she had yet to digest the lives she took. And to digest her life force, she felt that it will take a lot of energy which means at this moment, that is impossible. She did not have any energy to spare, let alone move a finger.
Staying awake was hard so how could she possibly muster up her strength to do something else? She didn't even know how many days she had been here. All she could think of was if her family was worried for her and if Euria had arrived home.
Her situation felt oddly familiar yet new at the same time. It was weird because these were the concerns she would never raise in her past life. This prison cell made her go through many feelings and emotions which was also odd. When she dreams, she would dream of the memories of this world and also many memories of her former world.
One of Euria's letters contained how she died in her former life. And because of her letter, she dreamed about her death. She dreamed of how she died commemorating her 15th year as an actress. This was an event that was set up by her manager and her CEO for her fans.
Before the event began, her manager left her in her dressing room. That was when someone came to her room to ask her to check on the ice sculpture that was prepared by her CEO for her surprise. Of course, when that person said that it was a surprise for her, she thought that it was weird. Nevertheless, she had to go check on it because her manager was gone.
The next thing she knew, she was hit by an ice sculpture and was bleeding to death in the ice-cold room. That was all she could recall from her memories. But because of her dream, she began to remember many more things that happened after that. And it was that she did not die instantly.
"You deserve to die. Die! Die! Die!"
In her dream, she did nothing and only lay on the cold floor as her head got smashed up repeatedly by the attacker. It was painful, and hurt a lot, but after a while, she could only feel numbness.
"Eugeneia! Eugeneia!" The person kept on shouting for her name. But it did not matter to her then because she was blacking out and slowly succumbing to the cold.
This was when her dream surprised her. Before she died, a white light lit up from within the figure. This light was warm and brought her back from falling unconscious. The light covered the figure up completely as a book emerged from the figure's chest and flew in her direction.
"..." Her alexithymia self didn't know what to make of this and could only stare blankly. She didn't feel anything particularly from this scene which was why she probably forgot about this memory.
"AH! AHHHH!!!"
Unlike the warm light that warmed her up, the light seemed to make the figure in pain. As if she was burning almost.
"THAT SON OF A ---" The figure fell down on its knees as its black jet eyes glared murderously at her.
"Was this the trick all along? For your loverboy to use Promis- URGH!!" The figure turned pale from pain and the figure's skin began to melt as if it was a mask. As to what mask the figure wore and what face was underneath it, Eugene couldn't see.. And that was the last scene she saw before she succumbed to her much-delayed death.
