Episode 225- The execution trial of 'the foreign spy'
'This is not funny.' Eugene lowered her head into her palms. Her sweat trickled down her forehead to her neck. What is up with her shitty luck? What dog bull crap was this play? Had she already used all her luck in this life?
An awful feeling hit her as she began to feel dizzy.
"..." All her luck truly has been used up! It has been 10 minutes since she's been awake and now it's time for her to head back to her motherland of dreams!
'Damn… it… all.' Eugene's eyes rolled back and she succumbed to sleep.

.
"..." F-ck.
The next thing she knew, she was kneeling on the ground with two long sticks making a cross between her waist and arms. She was kneeling on a small circle podium that could fit a maximum of 5 people. And on this podium, there was one tall person wearing military attire while 2 people wore the knight's attire. Surrounding this podium was a small body of water which kind of made no sense, but she will let it go for now.
And as for how she got beyond the small body of water, there was a small boat parked right behind them, which also didn't make much sense, but she will let it go again.
After taking note of the podium she was on, her heavy eyes glanced around the execution venue. Well, she didn't know if this was truly an execution arena or not because it looked more like a colosseum for men to fight each other. Like ones in ancient Rome where gladiators fight each other. But despite looking like the ones in Rome, it wasn't too big and you can see all the people gathered around clearly. And because the venue was circular, Eugene could feel everyone's gazes from all 360 directions.
Now, back to her small podium.
'Wait a minute…' Eugene glanced at the soldier and the two knights. "..." They will be working together? Why would they be working together? It was very unusual for Eugene to see these two fractions outside of simulation training.
"I commence the trial of this child, criminal, agent, spy, ruthless killer who slaughtered criminal bandit group, Bats." The tall military guy said with his back completely straightened.
"..." No…You got the wrong person. Well, technically, you did get the right person but I did not kill them all! I had allies!
All of a sudden, a commotion arose beyond where the knights and soldiers were seated. There were many people scurrying around and moving to the side, and newly arrived soldiers walking forward. She could hear many gasps in this small arena that only fit 100 people.
Eugene squinted her eyes when suddenly she saw a fit man who appeared to be in his late 40's walk-in from the middle of the newly arrived soldiers. The man glanced around, met her eyes for a brief second before looking away.
Another round of gasps could be heard again. This time, it was the people sitting closest to Eugene.
"C, Commander Guang!" The soldier beside Eugene practically screamed out as he saluted to the man in front of him. Not a second later, all of the soldiers in the arena saluted to the man in his 40's who was called Commander Guang.
'Wait… Commander?' Eugene stared speechlessly. This made no sense again! The last time she heard of this man from Duke Rodriguez, he told her that the Commander was in Serv on a vacation with his son. Of course, it wasn't truly a vacation but that he had been deployed there due to the incident in the Imperial Palace that occurred when she was around 3 months old. However, because there had not been any incidents in But because there hadn't been any incidents in Serv, they hadn't been able to come back which was why Duke Rodriguez called it a holiday. A holiday that lasted almost a decade.
But again… Eugene let this nonsense situation go. It was surprising that Commander Guang was here, but at the same time, it wasn't. It has been a good decade for goodness sake. So why wouldn't he come back?
However, the question was… What was he doing here?
Eugene soon got the response from the man himself who walked to one of the forefront seats. It was the seat right in front of her.
"I am here to oversee the trial." His legs were crossed as his fierce Commander aura took over the whole arena. It was an aura of war, of raw strength that Eugene never saw in Levis but in Duke Rodriguez and Duke Marleigh.
Eugene got shivers down her spine. She never thought that the training menu Duke Rodriguez gave her was hard even though he has been trained by the Commander himself. But now she knows. Duke Rodriguez never gave her the training menu the Commander gave him. There was no way the man in front of her would go soft on training. At least that was the feeling she got.
In this execution arena, one man was displeased. He belonged to the knights and had a somewhat high-ranking position. His position wasn't as high as the Great Nobles, and Paladins of Xenperia, but they were still high enough to inflict fear into the knights. And this was the knight who was ordered to oversee the trial.
"What is an esteemed soldier such as the Commander of the Military doing here?" There was dissatisfaction in the knight's voice as he turned to Commander Guang's direction. Everyone could tell by the air that surrounded the knight that he was displeased. Very displeased.
Commander Guang didn't turn to the man and only stared straight ahead at the small podium in the execution arena. He didn't have the obligation to reply to the man, let alone even follow the Emperor's orders if he wanted to. That was how much power he had in his hands and how powerful he was.
"I'm here because of the crisis in Xenperia."
The knight raised a brow, "Crisis?" There was a hint of sarcasticness in his voice as if saying of course there was a crisis. A group of criminals entered Xenperia and wreaked havoc. They injured the Duchess and are threatening Xenperia. Of course, there is a crisis!
"As of present, all knights and soldiers in the capital have been dispatched to deal with the crisis, while I am here to handle this trial."
The knight's eyebrows furrowed. He has not heard of this order. But now that he thought about it, it should have been the 2nd highest ranked knights after the Great Noble or even the 3rd highest ranked knights that should have overseen the trial. If all of the high-ranking officers were dispatched to deal with the "crisis," the Commander's words made sense.
The knight readjusted his emotions and he asked, "And is Commander not going to handle this crisis?" He changed his wording from soldier to Commander. Though he was salty over the fact that his job got taken, he wasn't too much of an unreasonable person depending on the circumstances.
The Commander was silent for a few minutes before standing up and announcing something incredibly shocking. This shocking news made Eugene who was listening in to the conversation between the Commander and the Knight shocked as well.
"Xenperia is currently facing a crisis. This crisis involves the Eldest daughter of the house of Veria who was kidnapped by criminal group Bats, and its head organization, Exitium. The Eldest Daughter of the Veria house is Eugeneia La Veria. She has light grey, almost white hair, grey eyes, and three beauty marks under her eyes. She is taller than the average 10 years old with a height of 158cm."
The Commander paused for a while before continuing, his voice was low and threatening, "As you all know, she is the Lieutenant of the military and Paladin of the knights. The blessed twin of Xenperia." His low voice sent shivers down everyone's spine as the Commander's words began to sink into everyone's brain cell.
'... Now isn't that me?' Eugene glanced at everyone in the execution arena. Her dry mouth opened and closed to say something, but she was too tired and did not have the energy to.
'... Hello? That's me? The description describes me perfectly? Hello? Why is no one looking my way?' Eugene furrowed her brows as her tired head began lower.
"...." Eugene stared blankly at her hair. Her eyes slightly widened as she stared at her hair in shock! 'No wonder no one is looking at me. What is with this color?! It's muddy and brownish-red!' What on earth happened with her hair! Why was it so short all of a sudden?!
What is up with her luck!!!! But more importantly, why is no one saying anything? Eugene peeked from the corner of her eyes but that was a mistake as her breath began to hitch.
There were no words that needed to be said as the looks on both the soldiers' and the knights' faces showed it all.
