Chapter 14：Idle Fishing

"Create a slate pathway and splits Space and Time. Is this the construction method of the Chaotic City?" 

Li Hanqiang was fascinated. He hurried forward, walking through the small Space-Time Wormhole to a whole other world. 

As he surveyed his surroundings, he saw a clear pond with willow trees on the banks. There were nine pavilions of an ancient design scattered around the pond and a small rowboat was beached against the banks of the pond. 

Taking a deep breath, Li Hanqiang felt that the air was fragrant, almost sweet. 

"This is really a good place," Li Hanqiang said. 

Blue Ripple pond was not large. The surface area of the pond was just over a hectare in size, roughly two soccer fields. However, the atmosphere here was peaceful and quiet, an impossibility in this modern world. 

Li Hanqiang surveyed the area once more and discovered that the pavilions and the small rowboat were fishing spots. A fishing rod was prepared at each pot for players to do some fishing. 

The difference between the two spots was that the pavilions were static spots, and the small rowboat could be paddled to the middle of the lake to make it a mobile fishing spot with a higher chance of catching higher level fish. 

The fish that were caught could be sold at the in-game shops for currency. Unique fish had other uses. 

There was another interesting feature, and it was that fishing in the middle of the Blue Ripple Pond not only had fish but a very small chance of fishing lootboxes, equipment, and rare items. 

In conclusion, fishing was a chance-based activity. 

Li Hanqiang immediately decided to give it a try. He got on the small rowboat and paddled out into the pond before casually picking up the fishing rod. 

Since this was a simulation in a game, fishing was very easy. It did not require any input from the player. It was a different condition altogether. The moment the player began, the player's character would automatically put a bait on the hook and begin fishing. If the player caught anything, it would automatically be kept in the Fish Basket. 

"Isn't this specifically for players to be idle?" Li Hanqiang clapped his hands in excitement. 

In most modern online games, if the player disconnected, the character would not disappear but would just enter into an idle state. 

What was referred to as idle was as the name suggested. That was to say, there were no actions and the character would stand there dumbly. It would not attack on its own accord, or could not be mobilized to defend itself. Neither was the character invincible, so it could be defeated! 

The reason why this was the case was to prevent players from disappearing when they went offline to carry out ambushes, transfer the grudges, and other such dishonorable tactics. 

Because of this idle mechanic, there were safe havens in the game, such as inns and other such places, for players to idle in. There were some other idle spots that collected a fee to allow players to carry out forging, alchemy, and other such activities. However, the fees were very high. 

Li Hanqiang immediately understood. The pavilions and the rowboat in the Blue Ripple Pond, were they not idle fishing spots? 

"What a great find! Buying this Blue Ripple Pond for only five gold pieces, what a great deal!" 

Li Hanqiang was overjoyed, and could not help but start to think of ways to exploit this Blue Ripple Pond to his benefit. 

"It's just about time to go offline to get a meal. I should just go idle and go online to research about the Passive Skill of a City Lord." Li Hanqiang thought. As such, he contacted the system and applied to go offline. 

[System Notification: Going offline will reduce the success rate of fishing. Are you sure you would like to disconnect?] 

"Yes!" 

Li Hanqiang took off the VR Headset and took a look at the time. It was already 3.30 in the afternoon. 

The Endless World was released at 8 in the morning today. Without him realizing it, he had already spent seven hours on the game. At this time even though his mind was active, he could not ignore his rumbling stomach. 

Pulling out his mobile phone, he quickly ordered some delivery. Within ten minutes, the delivery man was at the door. 

As he opened the door, he paused. There were quite a few delivery men at the door, in total there were five of them. 

Of course, only one of them was for him. The other four were for the other neighboring villas. 

A beautiful lady in jeans was also collecting her food. 

"Lin Banyue!" Li Hanqiang's face lit up. "Why are you also ordering food at this time?" 

Li Hanqiang was an unemployed gamer, with nothing to his name other than a few villas that he rented out for subsistence. The beautiful woman near him was a new tenant that moved in yesterday. "Hello Mr. Li. I'll see you later." Lin Banyue seemed like she was not willing to oblige Li Hanqiang. She took her food and rushed back to her villa. 

At her door, she paused and looked at Li Hanqiang. "Mr. Li, are you playing Endless World as well?" 

"Of course. It's such a hot game, how could I miss out? I'll let you know, I'm quite the pro. Would you like to play with me? I'll carry you." 

Lin Banyue smiled slightly and shook her head. "No thanks." 

"Really? Do you not believe my abilities?" Li Hanqiang asked. 

He could tell that there was some arrogance in Lin Banyue's demeanor. Was she a pro at the game? 

Lin Banyue did not respond, but replied, "What profession did you pick, Mr. Li?" 

"Of course I'd pick the Lord of the Chaotic City. Just sitting at the top of the pyramid and owning a city befits my status." Li Hanqiang blustered. 

"Oh?" A hint of disappointment showed on Lin Banyue's face. "That profession is not one that ordinary people can play well." 

"Do you think I look like an ordinary person?" Li Hanqiang asked. 

Lin Banyue assessed Li Hanqiang before she replied with a smile, "Mr. Li certainly isn't an ordinary person. However, it's a shame as I thought that I would recruit you into my clan. If you've decided to choose the profession of a Chaotic City Lord then that would be impossible." 

She paused before continuing, "If Mr. Li is interested in the profession of the Chaotic City Lord, you can watch my stream. I stream on Fly, my ID is Gorgeous Banyue."

Gorgeous Banyue, this was a well-known handle within the Endless City community on Fly. The streamer received many messages regarding Endless World from the community. It was even said that she had taken part in the closed beta of Endless World. 

Because she had never revealed her face, one only heard about her but had never seen her. Li Hanqiang always thought that she would be a fat woman. He never thought that Gorgeous Banyue could actually be a beautiful woman, and he never expected to have met her in real life. 

There was a streamer goddess next door! 

Things just got interesting. 

Li Hanqiang was still stunned when Lin Banyue closed her door. He shook his head and quickly returned to his room. 

He quickly ate his food before quickly putting the VR Headset back on. He did not log in to Endless World but he went onto the web and quickly logged into Fly to watch Gorgeous Banyue's stream. 

At this time, the stream had not yet started. Li Hanqiang opened the live stream replays and saw the first thumbnail of Endless World. 

"Hi everyone, Gorgeous Banyue here. Endless World has finally been released. I will choose the Lord of The Chaotic City, I hope everyone will follow me as I experience this unique Overlord profession…" 

"This Gorgeous Banyue also chose to be a Chaotic City Lord!" Li Hanqiang said in excitement as he continued to watch.
