Chapter 71 - The Big Bad Kane And Jason

Chapter 71: The big bad Kane and Jason

The darkness stretched to eternity for Kara. She thought it would remain like that forever, floating like she was made of nothing, never to go home again but it didn't.

Slowly, the enveloping darkness began to lift and she suddenly felt like she could see.

And she could.

It was blurry for a minute but everything became clearer.

She was lying on a bed inside a room she couldn't recognize and it took her mind a moment to understand what had just happened - she has been kidnapped.

"Good! Good! You are awake. I was just about to beat myself up for giving you too much drugs to knock you out. Sorry, sweetheart but I couldn't take the chance that you would cause a scene before I had a chance to introduce myself to you properly. My name is..."

Kara interrupted him.

"Kane" Kara finished for him.

There was a smile on his face when he spoke to her again "I am your father, Kara"

Kara looked around the room. She was trying to mentally capture as much details for the police when she escaped.

The room looked empty except for the bed she was lying on. There were two wooden chair by the uncompleted window.

The window had no glass covering but it had iron bars keeping everything or everyone from getting in or out. The floor was dusty and she hoped her allergy won't start to act up again.

The place was sloppy but it was a make shift prison. She was trapped and the only thing missing was that she wasn't cuffed to the wall.

"Did you hear what I just said?" Kane asked her.

Kara didn't mean to search for resemblance but she did.

"We have the same nose" Kara murmured to him.

Kane was over the moon. Everything was going just the way he had hoped, maybe even more.

"We do have the same nose. We got it from my mother. It's a good nose"

Kara watched the man in front of her. He didn't look like the monster she thought he would look like physically.

Kane was tall with dapper military moustache and brown eyes. His voice was deep when he spoke and somehow it still sent fear chills down Kara's spine. She hoped she was hiding it well. It was one of the things mama taught her about Kane.

(Don't let Kane know that you are afraid of him or he will use it to his advantage, Kara)

So Kara didn't let it show, she simply satisfied her curiosity by examining him.

"Yes" Kara murmured as she tried to remember other things her mother taught her about Kane. "Why are you here?"

Kane touched her cheeks affectionately. He didn't know how it was possible to love someone he just met. But it must be because she was his daughter, his flesh and blood.

"I came for you. Your mother lied to me and she kept you from me. She is a bad person, Kara...I know that she is your mother but she is really bad"

Kara fought the urge to defend her mother. Naya told her not to, if she ever found herself with Kane, she should do whatever it takes to stay safe until she could rescue her even if it meant agreeing with whatever Kane's tells her about her.

"Maybe but she is my mother. She must have done something right" Kara answered instead.

"Well, she had you...so, I guess she isn't all rotten" His wrestler's shoulder flexed as he talked. It gave him a burly physique.

"I am thirsty, can I get water?"

"Of course, sweetheart. I will grab water for you"

As soon as Kane left to get water, Kara searched for a means to escape. She saw a place covered with nylon and she opened it to find a crawl space.

She immediately tried to crawl away from there when someone grabbed her legs and pulled her out.

"Let me go! Let me go!" Kara yelled on top of her voice. "Help me! Somebody help me!"

Kane got angry. Rage flowed through him like lava and he was immediately smoldered with resentment for Chloe (Naya) for turning his daughter against him.

Kane picked her to take her back but Kara struggled futilely and she was screaming on top of her lungs, then Kane felt the pain as her teeth sank into his bare flesh. He dropped her on the floor and smacked her with the back of his hand so hard that Kara staggered and fell on the ground.

"See what you made me do! This is all Chloe's fault. She turned you against me!"

It took Kane a minute to realize that Kara was quiet and another to see that he just hit his kid. He moved closer to her in an attempt to sooth her and he expected her to move or at cringe away from him like her mother does after such unfortunate Incident like this but she didn't.

"Baby, I am sorry.... it's just that you pushed me. You made me do it. You shouldn't have made me so angry!"

Kara turned her face towards him. Her nostrils flared as she starred at him, she could feel her heart race and she spoke in a collected voice.

"You are dead!" Kara yelled at him "Do you hear me? You are so dead! If my father finds out you hit me, he will kill you. You are dead, psycho!"

Kane flinched but he was a little proud and a little hurt. At least, his little girl wasn't a weak pathetic thing like her mother. She had his fire and his ability to fight back. But she also called another man, father.

"Don't say that. Jason is not your Dad, I am. You just said that because you are upset" Kane said more to convince himself than her.

Kara grabbed the tag that was pinned to her school uniform.

"Read it! The law says I am his. I am Kara Hope Yagazie and you are not my father!" Kara threw the tag at him.

Kane picked her up roughly and moved her to the bed. Taking a zip tie from his bag, he bound both hands and legs.

"You think this stranger loves you more than the father that broke so many laws to reunite with you?" Kane ask her.

"Yes" Kara said affirmatively.

"Let's test that theory. Congratulations Kara, you just killed Jason" Kane said with a smile.

Kara looked up sharply, the bravery she felt slowly sipping from her body.

"What are you going to do to Daddy?" She asked Kane.

"Stop calling him that!" Kane yelled before he calmed down. "We are going to play a game, Sweetheart. Jason and I will play a game to know who is the best daddy for you, Kara"

Kara blinked

"You shouldn't"

she murmured to him. "You will lose, Kane. You will. He is the best father in the entire world"

"Don't sound so sure. People's true identities are revealed when they are pushed to the wall. I don't want to see you hurt, Kara...so, don't get your hopes up" Kane advices her.

"Yes. Finally something both of us can agree on. But Dada is still winning; he saved me from a burning building and you? You've kidnapped and slapped me in a space of two hours. You will lose"

"Shut up!" Kane took a duct tape and covered her mouth.

He took her to a chair and cuffed her to it.

"I have to go. I need to return your aunt's car. Maybe I will do bad things to her because you have a big mouth. Don't try to escape through that crawl hole, you will jump to your death, sweetheart. We are on the eighth floor of an abandoned skyscraper. I will be back with food as soon as I can. I love you" Kane kissed her forehead and left.

Kara could hear as he locked the door.

As soon as Kane was out of the door and in the car, he dialed Jason's number but he didn't pick up.

"One point for me!" If the man couldn't bother to pick his call, then he was definitely losing.

He started driving to Amazing's house and he dialed Jason's number. This time around, he picked up.

Jason wondered who could be calling his private line. He had ignored it before because his wife was feeling overwhelmed and he had to calm her down but now, they were walking towards a guest he had no zeal to talk to. It seemed like a good time to take a call as an excuse, anything to spare him from this tedious evening.

"Hello, this is Jason"

"You don't know me but I know you and I have Kara. If you raise alarm, I will put a bullet in between her eyes. This is not a prank call and my wife must have told you about me. My name is Kane"

Jason felt a sharp pain in his guts. He turned around with a smile "its work. I have to take this"

Jason walked away.

"Just leave Kara and run. You have my word, I won't come after you"
