Chapter 81 - The Still Before A Storm

Chapter 81: The still before a storm.

"I came before but the security guard won't let me inside" Miranda explained to the son she gave away.

"Sorry, Only immediate family are allowed to visit" Jason murmured to her.

Queenie rolled her eyes.

"She gave birth to you, how immediate can it get?!"

Jason's nostrils flared as he watched his sister. He couldn't believe she brought Miranda here without asking him first. His heart raced in his chest as he looked at the door every three seconds.

If his mother walked inside right this moment, how was he supposed to explain this to her?

There was a reason his adopted mother and his biological mother had never been in a room together before. Elixir wasn't the type of woman to watch the woman that took her husband away from her and not do anything about it.

Jason knew he had to get Miranda out of the room as fast as possible since Elixir was going to be in the hospital anytime from now.

"Queenie didn't tell me that she was coming with you." Jason complained.

"Because I had a feeling that if I had told you I was coming with our mother, suddenly, I would have lost my privilege to visit you. Mom said you are not taking her calls or replying to her emails, Jason" Queenie pouted in anger.

"It's okay. He is a busy man" Miranda tried to make up an excuse for Jason.

Mckenna watched as the family drama ensued. She got over her shock of seeing Miranda and went ahead to hug her.

"Good morning, ma. It's nice to see you again"

"Stop making up excuses for him, Mom. He should make an effort to get to know his mother!" Queenie tried to take everyone back to the important discussion.

"She is not my mother, Jesus Christ! Drop it already, Queen. Miranda doesn't actually care if I pick her calls or not. She just said so herself!" Jason yelled.

He held the bedsheet tightly as pain shot through his abdomen.

He shouldn't be arguing in his condition.

"You are mean, Jason! Of course, she cares! Imagine if Kara stopped picking your calls or replying to your emails. How would you feel?" Queenie yelled back.

Jason felt the room get smaller like he was expanding and getting larger with rage.

Mckenna knew that if she didn't do something fast that Jason would explode and take out everyone and everything around him. He would destroy the relationship he had with his sister.

She opened her mouth to talk but another person beat her to the punch.

"Shut up both of you!" Miranda yelled at both of her children. Everyone was quiet. Jason didn't expect it and neither did the rest.

"Queenie, you are upsetting your injured brother and Jason, you are a rude child that keeps spitting in my face when all I want to do is get to know you! I was shopping for oranges when I heard on the news that you had been kidnapped and shot. Do you know how that feels?"

Strangely, Miranda's anger made Jason calm down.

"I am sorry. I was too unconscious to call you" Jason said sarcastically.

"Jason!" Mckenna yelled at him.

"Everyone, out!" Miranda opened the door. "Mckenna, Queenie please leave. I like to have a word with Jason in private"

Mckenna took her bag and walked out and so did Queenie. Miranda closed the door after them.

"What are you doing?" Jason asked her.

"We are going to have an overdue conversation about you and me?" Miranda made herself comfortable on the chair.

"I don't want to talk to you. Please, send my wife back inside"

"No. I am sorry" Miranda told him.

"Why are you sorry?" Jason asked her stubbornly.

"I am sorry, I gave you up for adoption. I thought I was doing the right thing. I knew with Elixir that you would live like a king but with me, you would be a pauper. I did what I thought was best for you" Miranda told him.

"I am not angry you gave me up, Miranda" Jason told her.

"Then what is your problem with me?"

"Nothing, I don't know you. You are basically a stranger to me but you won't leave me alone. I don't know how to act around you. You gave birth to me but you are not my mother" Jason went with the truth.

"You are my son. Do you think I am ever going to stop trying to get to know you?" Miranda asked him.

"No" Jason whispered back.

"Then give me a chance. I just want to know you. I am not asking to be your mother" Miranda hated that she was bargaining with him.

The door opened and Mckenna entered and her face was twisted in a frown. Jason could swear that she was in panic.

"What's going on?" Jason asked.

Mckenna looked at her phone and looked up at Jason.

"Mom called. Kane escaped!"

Jason yanked out everything the doctors placed on his hand and into his veins. He tried to stand up.

"Jason, what are you doing?" Mckenna yelled at him in panic.

"I have to get out of here. He is going after my daughter again. I will kill him. I will kill him! Where is Kara?!" Jason was becoming hysterical and Mckenna didn't know how to get him back into the bed.

"Jason, get back into bed. You will hurt yourself. You can't be mobile" Mckenna tried to get him to lie down but he was adamant.

"No, I have to go"

Mckenna saw as he started bleeding at the sight of his surgery.

"Get a doctor, now" Mckenna told Miranda and she ran out.

"Jason, please lie down. Kara is fine. Your mother is going straight to the house to pick her up. Kane is not as stupid as to try to kidnap her again and if you keep struggling to get away. You will bleed out faster and pass out. Then you will be truly useless and unable to help Kara" Mckenna tried to find a reason that he would be inclined to agree with.

Jason sat down back on the bed. Mckenna helped him lie down as they waited for the doctor to come.

"Place a call to Naya and let her know that Kane might be coming for them, now" Jason told his wife.

"I have. She is aware" Mckenna reassured him.

"I can't...I can't"

Mckenna had never seen him so distressed. She wanted to say something but her phone started ringing. It was Kara.

"Hey, Baby girl. Are you alright?"

"I want my daddy" Kara demanded from her.

Mckenna handed the video call to Jason. Maybe they can calm each other down.

"Daddy!"

"Hey, bean. You are okay. You are safe" Jason could see that she was hiding in her closet and she was shaking. His daughter was terrified.

"He is coming for me, isn't he? He is going to take me away, Dad"

"No. Look at me. Kara, I said look at me. Nobody is taking you. I won't let them" Jason tried to reassure her.

The door opened and a doctor walked inside.

"Someone should get the phone away from him. I have to stop this bleeding" The doctor told the nurse behind him.

"If you touch this phone, I will obliterate you from existence" Jason threatened the nurse and she took a step back.

"Can you work around the phone? It's an emergency" Mckenna pleaded with the doctor.

"Daddy! Are you hanging up?" Kara asked him in panic.

"No. I am here"

Jason turned to the doctor "I want to be discharged"

"No. Be still please" the doctor was firm.

Mckenna tried to make him relax.

"Just talk to Kara while the doctor does his Job, Jason"

"I am here, Bean. Daddy is here"

Jason stayed on the phone for five more minutes while ignoring the pain in his abdomen. He stayed with her until Elixir arrived and found Kara in her closet.

"Go with your grandma, Kara"

"Okay"

Elixir took the phone from Kara to talk to Jason.

"She is safe. I am taking her to the mansion. Andrew Spencer hired some special security firm from Vancouver to make the mansion safer" Elixir reassured him.

"No offense to your boyfriend, Mom but you are bringing Kara straight to me" Jason told her.

"Jason, don't be unreasonable. I know you don't like Spencer but this is Kara's safety we are talking about" Elixir rebuked him.

"Mom, I am not joking. Bring my daughter to me or the next person to show up at the mansion will be me" Jason wasn't backing down from the argument.

"Jason-" Elixir said in a stern voice before Jason interrupted her.

"I am terrified, mom" He opened up to her, His eyes glimmering from unshed tears "If I am terrified then how do you think she is feeling. She needs her father, not a bunch of security guys she had never met before. I am begging you, bring her to me"

Elixir caved at last "Alright"

"Where is Naya?" Jason asked his mother.

"She refused to come with me. She said if Kane is bold enough as to come to your house, then she was going to have a word with him"

Jason shook his head "No! Kane will kill her"
