Chapter 92: This is my turf.

Spencer stood on the empty plot of land he intends to buy in about thirty minutes. It was about 500acres and it was strategically located and perfect for the mall he wanted to build.

His decision to venture into a business that wasn't telecommunications was purely a personal and emotional one. He had feelings for Elixir Yagazie and no matter how much he tried to convince himself that no woman was worth leaving his booming company he ended up spending the last month or so in Africa.

At least with a new business, he would satisfy the part of him that won't sit still for more than three seconds without an active responsibility.

So, here he was on an empty land, away from his company which he left to his twin sons to run in his absence while he fought every day for the urge not to call them and make them tell him the day to day dealings of Spencer telecommunication.

"This is the final step before the property becomes yours. The owner of the property will be here soon with his lawyers for the transfer of property to you" Andrew Spencer's attorney informed him.

"No they won't"

The voice came behind Andrew Spencer, he turned around and it was a familiar face. He asked his lawyer to excuse them and he did.

"Jason, what are you doing here?" Andrew asked him.

"You mean, what am I doing on my property? That question is kind of unnecessary, don't you think?" Jason asked him.

His voice was calm and collected like he was talking about barbecue instead of sabotage.

His hands were in his pockets and he was wearing a black suit.

Jason especially enjoyed the look on Spencer's face when he slowly assimilated what he was saying.

"I don't understand. What did you do? This property is supposed to be mine in an hour" Spencer had an angry demeanor.

"Tsk! Tsk! Yet somehow, it's in my name. I want to build a shopping mall…I even have a name figured out for it. What do you think of Elixir shopping mall…in honor of my mother, of course" Jason said with a straight face as he watched Spencer explode with anger.

"You son of a bitch!" Andrew took a step forward "I was planning to name the shopping mall I was supposed to build here, Elixir Dynasty Mall. You stole my idea and property"

Jason smirked and took out one of his hands from his pocket to gesture for Andrew to stop coming closer to him.

"Wooh! Easy tiger! And you didn't just call my mother a bitch, Mr Spencer?" Jason feigned outrage.

"I didn't call Elixir a bitch!"

"Well you did. You called me a son of a bitch, I am my mother's son and that makes her the bitch. Mama won't like that, you should watch your mouth"

Jason turned around and started walking away when Andrew spoke to him again.

"What the hell is your problem, Jason? Do you have something against your mother being happy or you are just throwing a tantrum that you are not the center of her world anymore?" Andrew's voice was laced with acid.

"No, I want mom to be happy. I just don't think you are the right man for the job" Jason answered truthfully.

"Because I am white?"

"I would say yes if it will end this boring conversation but then you will point out that my daughter is mixed raced and I will end up telling you the truth. You are always going to choose business over her. And I can't let that happen, sorry. Go back home, Mr. Spencer, it will only get worse from here on out" Jason said and kept walking.

"Except I am not going anywhere and you should get used to it Jason. I am not some little boy off the street that you can step on…if you keep pushing me, I will push back" Andrew told him.

Jason kept walking "Good thing you are in my turf, Mr. Spencer. Welcome to Africa!"

Mckenna was sipping a glass of juice when Jason came inside. She checked her watch and he was ten minutes late to their lunch date.

He kissed her hair and sat down.

"You are late, dude" Mckenna commented and took another sip.

A waitress carrying a tray of shawarma came closer and dropped it on the table.

"Good day sir, what can I get for you?"

Jason picked up the menu and pointed to the left side "Get me that"

The waitress turned and left.

"What did you do, Jason?" Mckenna asked him.

"What makes you think I did something?" Jason protested and relaxed into his chair.

"I am the tardy one and you are the stickler for punctuality. Yet I got here before you. So, why is the god of punctuality late for a lunch date?"

Mckenna offered her shawarma to him and he took a bite. He never understood why someone with so much affinity for junk food could look so fit and sexy even though she hated exercising.

"To answer your question I went shopping earlier" Jason answered at last.

The waitress came back with the burger Jason asked her to bring.

"Something tells me it wasn't for milk" Mckenna commented.

"I bought 500 acres of land this morning because my mother's boyfriend wanted to buy it. I did it to piss him off" Jason told her truthfully and took a bite from his burger.

"Why? It's stupid to get on Elixir Yagazie's bad side if you ask me"

"If Andrew loves her then going to war with me and winning will be easy. And if he eventually wins, he won't take her for granted" Jason took her juice and took a big sip.

"Some guys aren't equipped like that. From experience, some guys disappears to Malawi and adopts the most adorable baby girl because they can't face their feelings but Andrew came to Africa to be with Mom, it's pretty stupid to antagonize him or worst, your mother"

Jason dropped the burger he was holding and looked at Mckenna.

"Seriously! You are throwing Malawi to my face right now? Well, you are not blameless you know. I was someone before I met you, Mckenna…a delinquent but still someone" Jason said feigning annoyance.

Mckenna laughed heartily.

"Nigerian most wanted bachelor for five years in a row" Jason reminded her.

"I think the word they used was playboy. You are better because you met me, Jason"

"I can argue with that, now can I?" Jason said and smiled.

"As your loving wife, I will advise you not to get on your mother's bad side. Nobody Wants Elixir freaking Yagazie as an enemy and that includes you, my love"

Jason shrugged "I think I can take my mom. I am just as dangerous as she is"

When Jason returned to his office, his mother was waiting for him there.

She was sipping a glass of scotch.

"Took you almost two and a half hours to get back to the office, child" Elixir commented as soon as Jason entered his office.

"Mom! What are you doing here?"

Elixir was sitting on Jason's chair, her former chair in her former office. She didn't try to stand up or answer Jason's question.

"Have you gone crazy, boy?" Elixir asked as her phone started to ring.

"Let me guess, Andrew ran to tell you everything and you are here to chastise me" Jason said sarcastically.

Elixir tilted her head to her left and picked up her phone call and she placed it on speaker but she didn't take her eyes off of Jason.

"Hey, Honey!" She called out over the phone.

"Hey. Why does your son dislike me?" Andrew asked Elixir.

"Because he is a whimpering infant that throws a tantrum any chance he gets. What did he do this time around?" Elixir asked Spencer.

"He bought the land I was interested in buying…I didn't mean to bother you about it. I have got to go. Let's talk later, something came up"

"Okay, Spence. I will see you at home" Elixir hung up.

Jason exhaled and took a seat facing his mother.

"You knew before he told you" Jason said in resignation.

"I know most of your moves before you make it Jason. And when things get personal for you, you tend to make the best business moves. Good job son, I want that shopping mall" Elixir stood up and picked up her bag.

Jason stood up too.

"You are not angry. You are…proud" Jason sounded surprised.

"Maybe I am because in five years, with proper management, that shopping mall could be the best and biggest in Africa. It is a good business move but bad move inserting yourself into my private life. Back off or I am going to start meddling in yours full time" Elixir walked away.

"That is not much of a threat, mother. You've always meddled in mine, anyways" Jason said when he thought she was gone.

"Oops, I just emailed two of your baby pictures to the shareholders. Back off or next, it will be your third grade drama photographs circulating in the social media with hashtags Mama's bumblebee" Elixir came back to tell him.

"Fine! I will leave Andrew Spencer alone!" Jason shouted in anger. "But did you really email those pictures to two shareholders?"

Jason was mortified.

"Yes, I emailed it to myself and your godmother Terry.. It was nice negotiating with you, son. Goodbye"
