Chapter 27 - Trapped With You

Zeus was grabbing Eva firmly by her waist, within his sturdy grip, and looked around them. The elevator was vigorously shaking tremors along with a red siren blowing up off and on. After a few seconds of extreme anxiety, the siren along with the tremors stopped occurring around. The elevator suddenly halted from moving and a small dim blue light turned on inside of it.

Baffled Eva was clenching his shirt at the chest point while being enfolded in his arms. She was murmuring gibberish in fear and her legs were wobbly. As the vigorous shaking stopped, she tried to open her eyes cryptically and peeked at him. Zeus was already ogling at her intensively and as soon as she looked at him, she found herself embraced within his robust biceps.

With a jolt, Eva immediately departed away from him with a huge leap. Things were already bashful between them but with this unwanted embrace, she felt more embarrassed around him.

"Wh-What the hell just happened now? Why did the elevator stop?" She inquired looking panic-stricken.

Zeus turned away his face away from her and breathed out in a huff. "I think, the elevator worn out."

"What? What the fu--" She controlled her swearing as she was in front of the CEO of her company. She fidgeted anxiously and looked around them. The elevator was quite small in space but with the dim blue light glimmering inside, it seemed more dreadful.

"Worn-out? Does that mean it won't move? We are trapped inside of this?" She shrieked in panic.

Zeus firmly stepped forward from his position and walked towards the buttons situated inside. Swiftly he pressed a button and a beep sound occurred.

"We won't be trapped here forever. I have already called out for help and they will be rescuing us soon." He declared.

Eva continued staring at him with a poker face and huffed out heavily again. "Gosh! I can't believe this! Two times! Two times I faced a terrible experience inside this elevator! Damn! I am never going to take elevators inside this office! Never ever!" She was complaining in a rugged tone and squatted down on the ground anxiously.

Zeus silently peeked at her once and scrunched his eyebrows. "Why are you nagging like this? Are you a small kindergarten kid?" He shrugged.

"Of course not! But don't you think it's weird that two times I am going through awful experiences inside these stupid elevators and in both times you are here with me! Don't you find this fishy?" She reciprocated his query.

He seemed displeased with her accusation and sharply glared at her before speaking, "are you trying to accuse that I stopped this elevator today? Are you nuts?"

She was seated on the floor of the elevator and sighed heavily with his response. "Look, I am not in my correct state of mind. Can you please spare me some space?" She sounded a little gentle this time.

He didn't try to bother her anymore and stomped his feet to vent out his frustration. The atmosphere was too dense as if each minute seemed like a long eternity.

Quietly he chose to retreat and took his seat on the floor keeping a little distance from her. The hematite pendant was lying down on the floor and he slowly grabbed into his hand.

Eva seemed extremely distressed and she tried to cover her face with her trembling arms. "I have seen this situation in movies... Soon after the oxygen inside the elevator will run out before the help arrives and we both will die in suffocation." She whispered.

"Hey? Why are you blabbering out nonsense? Why would that situation ever come? And even if the help doesn't appear in proper timing, I have my own way to let us get out." He exclaimed in a heavy tone.

She was a bit startled by his response and quickly turned her gaze towards him. "Why? How can you come up with a way in this kind of horrible situation? Are you superman? Or an alien? How can you let us out?" She inquired bluntly.

Zeus smirked a little at her question and lowered his eyes. "It will be a matter of a few seconds to break this metal wall with a fierce kick from my inhuman legs. But I can't do this as long as you are trapped here with me. What a pain in the ass!" He thought but immediately put on a stiff expression on his grimace.

"Hey, don't you think you are talking quite informally with your CEO? You even rejected the pendant which I tried to hand you earlier?" He sounded tense.

Eva lowered her face down in between her folded knees and clenched her grip. "I know and I am sorry indeed... But I am really losing my mind here, sir. It feels... so traumatic." She mumbled with a heavy sigh.

Zeus couldn't ask her any further queries and kept looking at her gestures with a concerned gaze. She looked terribly distressed as if a bad memory was haunting her mind.

After a moment of anticipated silence, she chose to speak. "10 years ago, my family suffered from a terrible car accident on a dark night. I was asleep at that time but I felt a sudden ferocious jolt and our car turned over several times on the road. I was with my mom and dad inside the car.

My dad tried his best to save me and mom till his last breath but he was severely injured among us. My mom was holding me in her arms when the car turned over but as the car wrecked, all of us were separated from each other. I was trapped in between the backseat area and all I could helplessly watch was my mom and dad whimpering in pain. I screamed for help but no one came to rescue us.

Even though I survived and found myself in the hospital after I regained my senses, but my mom and dad couldn't... The memory of being trapped in... is still...dreadful for me..." Her voice sounded constricted as she was almost about to cry out aloud during the conveying.

Zeus silently listened to her as she opened up her bleeding wounds buried in her heart. Unknowingly he moved a bit closer towards her and put his arms around her shoulder.

She was surprised by his unpredictable action but before she could ask anything, he puller her closer to his chest and tapped her head to comfort her.

Eva was still in wonder about what's going on but couldn't move away from him. The warmth that she had lost years ago, it felt as if she revived it again. She stayed still within his arms.

"You aren't alone this time. I am right here by your side." He murmured with a sad face.

The comfort and the warmth which she found in his arms touched her heart as she smiled with teary eyes. "He...feels warm." She thought.
