Chapter 31 - Confrontation With Father

Walking with a heavy heart, Zeus slowly entered the Romano Mansion. His heart was aching with the words he just learnt from Eva just a few moments ago. The feeling was so terrible that he chose to head back home rather than following her like always. Till she has the pendant, he had made it sure that nothing would cause any harm to her.

He was straightly walking back to his room with a grieved expression, but suddenly he could sense bold giant footsteps behind him.

"Zeus!"

The tone was quite familiar to him and he sighed again with angst. Slowly, he turned back ad it was no one other than his father, the former, powerful alpha of the pack, Antonio.

He was quite broad and sturdy, almost similar to Zeus's appearance. His hairs were soft, adapting to the salt and pepper look. His biceps were robust and a stern expression was prominent over his face. He was more than 700 years old but the human disguise was absolutely perfect as he looked like a sturdy man in his early 50's. His eyes looked immensely dark and with his gesticulations, he looked a bit furious.

"Yes?" Zeus politely answered as he has always respected his father as the former alpha of the pack he was leading on now.

"I gotta talk to you about something. Let's have a seat." He firmly ordered and headed straight towards the sofa in the living room. He quietly followed his father with a deep sigh.

"What do you want to talk about?" He asked him in a deep voice while being laid back on the sofa.

Antonio had a stiff face and sharply raised his chin to glare at him. "Is it true, that you have killed a werewolf of our pack?" He grumbled.

Zeus somehow didn't expect such a stiff question from him but he didn't dare to lie. Slowly, he nodded his head in confirmation.

"May I ask, why?" He continued his interrogation.

"Because he dared to break the rules of our existence. I am very strict whenever it comes to our rules and regulations." He tried to explain in a deep voice.

His father gnashed his teeth in anger and suddenly slammed the corner table beside the sofa hard. The table immediately smashed into pieces as it couldn't withstand his inhuman strength.

"It was also one of our rules that we mustn't harm any werewolf of our own pack to the utmost limit. But...being a respectable leader, you killed your own group member, and that also just for a human maiden? How dare you?" He sounded infuriating in wrath.

He was startled to hear such a fierce confrontation from his father and scrunched his eyebrows. "How do you know that?" He reciprocated his query.

"Do you think you can do anything about your will and I would stay quiet and let you do as you please? How dare you kill our own member for a mere human?" He sprang up from the sofa and dashed a fiery question to him.

Zeus stood up from the sofa and frowned his face before responding to him, "dad, what you know isn't the complete truth. I didn't do it for solely saving the maiden, but if he further failed to control his urges of devouring humans, any human could have sensed it, and thereby, he could have put all of us in massive trouble. I just did it for the sake of all." He exclaimed.

"Oh really? Then when the maiden had already sensed his beastly instincts, why didn't you kill her? In spite of everything, you handed her magical hematite to protect her from further attacks!" He seemed in no mood of calming down.

He seemed extremely offended with these fierce queries and clenched his wrist to control his growing anger. "It must be Czar... He must have reported everything to dad..." He thought and his level of anger drastically increased further.

"Dad, I just wanted to save her as I couldn't let an innocent being getting killed right in front of my eyes. I...I am already living with the forever guilt of being unable to save grandma from that bastard Lupo group. I couldn't bear the same thing happening to her again..." He replied with a firm resonance.

"But she is a damn human!" Antonio almost howled in anger and the intensity of his voice vibrated the entire hall room. "We are the superior beasts than those mere humans! We treat those helpless beings as our prey! Until now, you had never shown any mercy to any human as I had raised you, so what's wrong with you now? Why do you bother about her life?" He grumbled at him fiercely again.

Zeus chose to be silent with a lowered gaze as he couldn't find the right explanation to answer his father. Somehow, he was all surprised with himself! He was absolutely right, until now, he never even bothered to care about human life, and earlier he had also encountered countless gracious human maidens but never drawn any attraction towards them.

But what has been going wrong with him? Why does he feel so restless around her? Why does the slightest thought of something hazardous happening to her is enough to make his mind going crazy? Why does his heart pound like crazy whenever he approaches closer to her? Why does he feel so fulfilled when she lies closer to his chest? Since when she has become so important to him?

He couldn't utter a single word and chose to stay silent.

But... Antonio couldn't bear his silence and gritted his teeth in anger. He could easily sense that something has been going terribly wrong with his sturdy son and he chose to interfere within before it goes horribly wrong.

Immediately he turned around from him and firmly declared, "I have decided. You will be getting engaged to Ivory the next day after the full moon night."

Zeus flinched his shock and rolled in his eyes in wonder. "What?" He screamed.
