Chapter 35 - The Attack

"Eva, slow down! You might trip and get hurt!"

Ross called her in a sharp scream from behind. Eva was almost rushing ahead of him in grief and with the brisk tone, she halted.

He moved quickly closer to her and glanced at her expression. She had a grimacing face with her eyes lowered down.

"Hey, don't be so sad. Your eyes are already swollen from crying so hard." He tried to comfort her and handed her a hanky to wipe her tears out. "Here, take this."

She sighed heavily with his kind gesture and lifted her arm to grab the fine linen hanky. But all of a sudden, a thought struck her mind which made her pause.

"Ross... what if I never find the pendant ever again? What if I am accosted by dangers... again?" Her voice quivered.

With her dubious interrogation, immediately his facial eloquence darkened as he smirked wickedly. "Don't worry... I won't torture my pretty prey much!" He wondered with an evil sneer and cleared his throat before answering her back, "I am very sure the staff crew would definitely look for the pendant for you. Don't overthink too much, okay?" He tried to portray a fake concern.

She silently nodded her head and both of them started walking down the lane towards their home as it was almost the evening.

...

It was almost around 8 pm. The night time was calm and radiating a mystic aura all-encompassing the surroundings. It was almost time for the bright full moon night and the illuminant moon was radiating brightly up there in the night sky. Ross and Eva were strolling down beside a large greenish grass- field at a slow pace being accompanied by the soothing night breeze.

She stared at him once with a dubious gaze as he was walking ahead of her. After they started heading from the bus-stop, Ross has been awfully quiet. He suggested her of taking a short-cut route towards the home as their houses reside in the same direction. However, she agreed to his proposal but the idea appeared a bit skeptical towards her. They have been walking for the past 30 minutes but still, they didn't reach their neighborhood area.

Moreover, the area looked completely dark, desolated, and unfamiliar to her. She was ogling all around while following him quietly from behind, but his gestures were emerging out to be more suspicious towards her.

"Ross? How long it will take more? I think we are in an unfamiliar neighborhood! I think we have taken the wrong route!" She whined in a loud tone while gazing around herself. With gradual passing time, the intense domain was turning out to be more spooky for her to rely on.

Suddenly he halted his motion and stood all still. As he stopped marching, she stopped walking too and glanced at him from behind with a frown face.

"We have come to the right destination, Eva. Here, no one will bother us anymore. I wanted to bring my meal right to this place, only." He sounded extremely malicious with a scary deep voice.

Eva was shocked and surprised that she forgot to breathe out for a few seconds. She gasped at him in wonder and rolled her eyes in a fret, "wh-what? What do you mean by it? Ross? What are you even responding to?" She squeaked.

With her fretted tone, he smirked cryptically and turned back towards her. But this was not the normal, amicable friendly Ross she had been meeting till now! But a fierce, dark, wicked and devilish eloquent person was standing in front of her by blocking her view.

"Ro-Ross? What's wrong? Yo-You are scaring me!" She took a step back while mumbling her words in an unclear pitch.

"It was frustrating enough to put up such a fake friendly for quite a long time, Eva. But now, nothing won't stop me from devouring you!" He declaimed in a cold voice and firmly took a step closer towards her. He had a cruel smile on his grimace while approaching her.

She gulped her saliva anxiously and started moving in the back direction from him. She immediately sensed that his intentions weren't normal from before and just he planned, she had fallen into his trap.

"Why are you doing this you lunatic jerk? What do you want from me?" She screamed in wrath as his ugly confrontation made her fuming in rage.

He laughed out aloud with her interrogation and covered his mouth with his broad arms. "Not only you are pretty, but fierce too! I absolutely love preys like this! They match my taste and also, satisfy my hunger!" With a sly smirk, he licked his red lustrous lips with a lewd yearning gaze towards her.

STOMP!

While moving back suddenly Eva tripped over a small pebble and nervously fell down on the ground. With the sudden tripping, she got a bruise on her elbow and it started bleeding profusely from the injured area.

"Ahhh!" She quivered in pain while looking at the scrape and slightly raised her chin to take a peek at Ross.

He was maliciously looking at her bleeding arm with his evil eyes shimmering in the dark. He licked his lips again as if the sight of her blood had immensely provoked the beast inside him!

"The smell! The smell makes me crazy!" He howled in a loud voice and shifted his stare towards her frightened pale face.

Eva was turned stiff in fear with her wobbly legs unable to stand up and run away from him. She was extremely terrified and started sobbing bitterly. "Why are you doing this to me? What did I do wrong to you? Who are you?" She screamed.

"Don't worry darling, I generally don't torture my food much before devouring! It's just a matter of a few seconds!" He raised his right arm and stomped his feet hard by bending his body a little. It seemed as if he was attempting to take a huge leap towards her just like a wild animal capturing its prey.

As he dashed closer to her suddenly someone came in between his way as fierce as the speed of the wind and yanked him ferociously away from her.

She was trembling in fear while closing her eyes but as soon as she heard uninvited chaos, she cryptically opened her eyes.

A tall, sturdy person drenched in water, dressed in a completely black attire was standing in front of her as her protective shield. She immediately recognized that the person was no one other than her constant protector, Zeus.

"Not so fast, you bastard beta!" He growled at him in a fiery resonance.
