Chapter 208 - Dark Truth

"Stop...looking down on my Eva."

All of a sudden, those intense cold words escaped his quivering jowls as he lifted his dark gaze at Ivory while she was glaring at Eva. Flinched at his profound response, she shifted her eyes back to him, frowning her brows.

"What?"

"I said stop...looking down on the person who means the world to me, Ivory." He sounded a bit fervid squinting his brows at her. "We...were bound to found each other. We were destined for each other! She is the one...who saved me from the horrendous curse! If she didn't arrive for me, I would have been already rotten dead on that fateful night! It's not her fault that she was born a human... It was me who chose her against the world!"

Hearing his intensive shrilling verdict, for a moment she stared deeply in his murky eyes swirling her eyeballs restlessly. Slowly, she unleashed her grope from his collar, and a cold small smirk spread on her lips, "despite being the alpha of our pack...you are still willing to choose the dark path her traitor father had opted to..."

"Uncle Steve did everything for the sake of his love and I can't blame him for that. Stop...calling him a rat!" Fretting his grimace, he grumbled out looking very offended. But more than anything, Eva was shellshocked to hear out her father's name from him which palpitated her heart intensively.

"Whatever you say to defend him, abandoning his own pack was never an option! He did such a heinous sin... everyone had trusted him so much and I can't believe you are defending him for what he did--"

"He didn't have any other choice left rather than protecting the one he loved! What did he do wrong? Wouldn't...Wouldn't you do the same for me too?" Taking a deep huff of breath ardently, his cold voice crooked a little as he tried to object to her response. Watching their heated argument mentioning her father's name made Eva even more helpless, fostering the sharp pain pounding her heart.

A moment of anticipated silence followed between them as they gazed at each other looking quite fervid. Clenching her fist and staggering a step back, she murmured in a hoarse voice, "until now...in every decision of yours...either its right or wrong...I have supported you without giving a damn to the world. Did you really think I would support you this time too when you made such a ridiculous choice? When you were enjoying your sweet moments with this wench here...I was dying inside worried about you! Just...Just how could you be so selfish? Don't you feel sorry for your pack?"

"My pack...has been always important for me, Ivory. That's why...I have decided to confess everything and let them make the choice. I...don't want to keep anything hidden from anyone, anymore." He conversed with a serious look on his pale face.

"And you think, our pack will accept this wench as our Luna? Hahaha...such a ridiculous assumption!" A dark, tantalizing grin escaped her lips as she stole a glance at Eva who was standing still behind, lowering her bereaved face down. "Does she even have the audacity to bear the responsibilities? It won't take 3 seconds to kill such a weakling like her and...you expect us to accept your foolish choice? Hah... Zeus, you have indeed lost your mind. Right now...you don't even seem the vicious, powerful alpha I have known since all these years. You are being...just a lovesick loyal dog! But...sadly, you are making me realize...how pathetic I have become for you." Her deep, low voice sounded very gruff with her wide brown eyes beaming in rage.

A piercing pain of anguish torn his heart as he stood silently for a moment. Taking a profound sigh of grief out, he lowered his eyes down making a guilt-frown expression. "After my granny...and...Uncle Stevan...you were the only one who adhered with me in my good and bad times like a strong pillar. I know, I...couldn't even come this far if I didn't have a loyal friend like you from the very start. I will owe you for that forever...

But...do you too...wish to leave my side now?" His voice became dense and thick as if those glum feelings were filling up his core. He slowly lifted up his dark eyes glistening with sadness peering at her.

Looking at him with a deep, sad gaze she was absolutely still for a few seconds with her murky eyes filled with tears of agony. Sighing out heavily, a small sad smile appeared on her lips as she whispered, " right now, I earnestly wish if...I could despise you... If I could hate with all my might...If I...could just erase your existence from my soul and my heart but...I can't do that... Thanks to you...I have to live forever with a sword stabbed in my heart. I never thought I would feel it...but yes, I regret it... I regret loving you so bad...

I will never accept your choice if it involves this despicable human! And...I won't forgive this wench either for tearing us apart! I know...sooner or later you will regret what kind of bitter ending you gave to our long, beloved friendship... But...Do me a last favor...

Don't ever...show me your face again...That's all for us..."

Tears of angst rolled down her grievous face as her voice crooked a little trying to suppress the immerse surge of sobbing inside. Her dark teary gaze seemed much painful as she turned around abruptly and started walking away from him over the sand with an erratic motion. Slowly after walking a few steps apart, she disappeared with a strong gush of wind that blew suddenly along the desolated shore.

His eyes were all teary as for a few seconds he stared sadly at the direction where she just went off all alone. Clenching his fist, he took a deep gasp of breath out trying to suppress the surge of wailing arousing inside his throat. It didn't even take 10 minutes to shatter the long friendship they cherished for over a century. The realization was painful for him to bear inside.

Standing behind him, Eva was silently gawking with her teary eyes at him standing alone in such a bereaved state. She could evidently understand the agony he was feeling deep inside, which made her feel even more miserable than ever.

After a moment of anticipated silence, slowly he turned towards her and walked a few steps closer. He seemed very concerned while he was staring at the bruised, swelled ring mark on her neck caused by Meghan. Slowly averting his gaze in her deep eyes he whispered in a low voice, "the bruise...looks painful. Are you hurt somewhere else? Did Ivory try to hurt you too?"

A wrecked sad simper carved on her lips as she stared at him momentarily for a few seconds. Slowly, taking a heavy sigh out, she mumbled, "you had told me...there won't be anything hidden between us anymore... But...you had lied to me, Zeus..."

Peering at her disappointed face, he walked a step closer towards her fretting his grimace. "Eva...I didn't mean to cause you more pain than you already--"

"How do you know my dad? You know...why did she call my dad a traitor...isn't it? What has my father done? What else...you have kept hidden from me?" Before he could interpret his words, she intervened in a restless, discontented voice gazing at him still.

Gawking at her dark sad eyes, he took a slow step forward and intending to hold one of her arms to console her morose heart. "Eva...calm down a little, first. I will tell you everything--"

"Calm down!?" All of a sudden, she screamed out fervently with those tears of anguish streaming down her pale, pained face. "Two innocent people have died for me! I have ended your years of cherished friendship with her! I am the reason for the immense hate you will receive from your pack! My cursed fate is snatching every fucking thing from you leaving you all alone...And now...I know I am the daughter of a traitor... After all these...you are asking me to calm down?" Groping his forearms she gritted her jowls while sobbing bitterly.

"Eva..."

"Tell me about my father! What has he done? Who am I? How do you know about him? I want to know everything!!" She yelled intensely, swirling her teary eyes restlessly.

Lowering his eyes down, he took a deep huff of breath in before rustling, "he was someone...very dear to me, Eva. He was someone...whom I looked up to...who inspired me to be a good leader and...who loved me very dearly..."

"Wh-What?"

"He was the...strongest beta swordman...of our pack." His voice shivered a little as he whispered to her.

Rolling her eyes wider with disbelief, she unleashed her arms from him and unknowingly retreated a step back. "M-My...My father...wa-was...a...wolf?" Her husky voice quivered.
