Chapter 211 - Defied The Destiny

"Wh...What? Be...Beheaded?" In a quivering husky voice, her lips trembled a little as Eva enlarged her shocked eyes while gawking at Zeus intensely. For a moment, it seemed as the time stopped around them while two grieved souls were helplessly peering at each other.

Slowly, Zeus took a small step forward and groped both of her hands tight. She was a bit shivering out of trepidation which he could sense precisely. Caressing her hand, he tried to project a fake small smile to reassure her first, "Eva...you...you don't have to think so hard...Nothing...Nothing such as that would be happening to us..."

"Wh...What?"

"I will do anything to be with you forever, Eva. I promise...I will...I will do every possible thing to fight against our odd destiny. I believe in the power of love...I do know...we will fight together in this hard journey and work it out... I believe...someday... I will be able to help my pack realize...that how much we...we mean for each other...But, I...I am not going to give up on us...I am not going to leave your side, no matter what..." He was desperately trying to console her terrified heart, in the utmost gentle way as possible.

"Wh...What is wrong...with you? A...Are you crazy?" Whimpering out in a teary husky voice, her shivering left hand clenched his arm tightly, gawking in awe. "How...How could you ask me to marry you ev...even knowing about our dreadful destiny ahead?"

"Eva--"

"How could you chose me even after knowing some...someday...it may cost you your own life? How can you be so blinded in love? Ha...Have you really lost your mind? How can you love me even after knowing the ill fate my father had to face? How could..you..." Her trembled voice trailed off as warm tears of helplessness streamed down her cheeks.

Softly cupping her side face with his broad, thick palm, he squinted his teary eyes before responding resolutely to her, "you are...everything to me. I don't care what ahead we gotta face but...I will spend the rest of my life fighting for you, that's what I have vowed. An alpha...can never go back on his words... I have already chosen you as my other half and I...I will never love any other woman other than you...till my last breath." A sad tremulous smile appeared on his lips while he was consoling her.

"But I care about you!! I can't let you do everything on your own even after knowing...what's ahead of you, Zeus!!" She shrieked out fervently, clinching her grip tighter on his arm. She had started sobbing bitterly with her pale white skin turning into a red hue of despair.

"We...We both belong to two separate worlds... I...I have finally realized why...why Ivory...Mr. Czar...why they were against our relation! Mr. Czar tried to warn me several times...but...I couldn't understand his indication...Fuck! I finally understand...it was forbidden from the very start, Zeus! Think rationally...this cruel world will never accept our love! Think about the harsh path...my dad had to choose for the sake of his love! And...And you...you are their alpha! The consequences will be severe for you if you abandon your pack for my sake... In this cruel world of regulations...Ultimately...you will be the one...who will suffer brutally, Zeus!" Shaking his arm out of desperation, she was wailing out glancing at his sorrowful gaze.

"Even...Even if they never accept us...we can forever live in hiding, Eva! We...We will move somewhere...very far from my pack...where...they will never reach us! I...I will make sure that they never find us! We...We will be truly happy by then...We...We will live an ordinary life...just as you wished for... I will...forever disguise myself as a human if it needs to keep you by my side..." As his lips quivered while answering her, warm bereaved tears dripped down the corner of his eyes. Unknowingly, he tightened his grip on her arm as if the mere thought of letting her go was haunting his mind.

Watching him all helpless and fragile right before her eyes, she gasped out a huff of air and shook her head horizontally a few times mumbling on her own. "No...I...I won't be able to survive...if...if something happens to you, Zeus! You shouldn't have met me in the first place...hic...Why did you have to save me from committing suicide...hic...You should go away from me...Go away...Don't be with me...hic...I...I can't watch you bearing these horrendous consequences...I...I will live somehow on my own...but I can't let you suffer...I can't let you walk...on the same path of sin...my dad had committed...You should go away! You shouldn't be with me...Please...go far away...hic...please..." She sobbed squealing helplessly pushing him with her frail arm while trying to shove him away from her.

The more she tried to push him away, the more he tried to hold onto her tight. All of a sudden, he tugged her in his broad chest hugging her firmly in his warm embrace. Confined in his arms, she was gritting her jowls, sobbing helplessly while he was involuntarily shedding his tears resting his chin on her shoulder groove.

"There...There is no point in living...if...I lose you, Eva... I...I am sorry...But...I want to be greedy this time...I want to seek my happiness...with you..." Clasping his arm around her slender waist, he mumbled in a tear-soaked pitch.

After a moment of emotional outburst in his arms being absolutely destitute, slowly she drifted herself away from him by pushing his body against her arm. She seemed bereaved, her grimace was soaked in tears, and watching her shoving him away from her, his heart was pounding hard in angst.

"Eva?"

"I...I want to be alone for some time..." Her husky, deep low voice sounded very intense as she was lowering her face down avoiding eye contact with him.

"But why? Where...Where do you want to go? I...I will go with you--"

"Zeus, please!!" Before he could interpret his entire words she shrieked in a teary voice raising her eyes up to glare at his vulnerable dark eyes. "I...I said that I want to be alone! And...don't come after me...please! I beg of you!"

Squealing out in a loud despaired voice, she slowly unleashed her arm from his grip leaving him absolutely numb for a few seconds. Peering at her with his sad, teary gaze he continued looking at her from behind as she turned around from him. Slowly, at a wobbly distressed state, she continued marching forward barefoot on the cold desolated shore.

Gawking at her from behind, tears rolled down his dilated, murky eyes as he clenched his fist being unable to take a single step forward.

After keeping his anticipated silence for a while, he screeched out aloud from behind, "I will wait for you right here, Eva! You...You gotta come back for me! I...I will...wait!!" His grievous voice echoed simultaneously with the mild rustling sound of the waves drifting towards the shore.

Holding a wrecked heart, she continued walking forward and didn't even turn behind to look at him once. Standing all alone, he watched her slowly disappearing from his sight enduring the painful heartache inside.

...

"Let her be alone...my child..."

All of a sudden, hearing the sudden soft voice behind him, with a heavy flinch Zeus turned behind to witness a shocking sight! Right before him, wearing a slit, long white shimmering silk gown, a tall beautiful woman was standing with tender smiley eyes on her divine, oval-shaped face. On the top of her head, she had worn a heavenly sparkling luminous tiara with a crescent moon engraved on it. A soothing white glow was illuminating out of her entire body which made her look ethereally beautiful in that desolated murky night. Zeus evidently understood that she was their divinely sacred Moon Goddess, Selena, though it was his very first time actually meeting her.

"Things must be very hard for her right now to endure...let her be alone...for her own sake." Slowly, she walked a step closer to him mumbling in a warm voice.

Watching his own deity right before him, a flare of immense anger surged inside his heart vigorously. Narrowing his teary gaze at her, he grumbled out of wrath, "ar...are you here to enjoy the misery...we are bearing inside?"

"No...my child..."

"You...You call us your child...then...why did you have to bless us with such a miserable fate? What kind of destiny we are born with? Why...Why did you have to be so cruel to me!?" He screamed furiously at her, shedding his tears.

She sadly looked at him straight in his eyes and took a heavy sigh out. Walking a step closer, she whispered genially, "it's no use of blaming me, my child. It was you...who dared to change your destiny. It was you...who...invincibly altered the lines of both of your fates."

"Wh-What?"

"Let me tell you the truth. She was meant...to die on that fateful night along with her parents...But...it was you...who decided to save her... On that fatal night...you sealed a path of misery that was never meant for you. You defied the destiny you were born with...

Why did you do it, Zeus?" Frowning her brows, she mumbled slowly.
