Bang!

A loud bang rang throughout the night sky; it was as if the dorm building was shaken by it as well.

Lin Yu, who had been deep in thought, nearly fell onto the ground.

“F*ck, what happened?”

“What’s going on? Did a gas tank explode?”

“F*ck, look at the field!”

The male dorm was in chaos after the loud bang. Some of them looked out the windows of the rooms facing the field while others ran downstairs in their singlets and slippers.

“Third Brother, let’s go and check it out.”

Xu Zhaoyang and the others were curious as well. Lin Yu ended up being dragged downstairs as if it were a fire drill. People were rushing into the corridor and the elevator could no longer fit more people.

They finally got downstairs, and there was quite a crowd on the field. They were all dressed in their singlets and slippers, making it obvious that they had all ran out from their respective dorms.

“Go back, what are you gathered here for!”

“I’ve told you guys to not use any high-power appliances in your dorms! Now there’s an explosion, are you happy?”

“If anyone is caught with high-power appliances like water heaters in their rooms, a demerit will be recorded!”

Soon after Lin Yu and the others arrived at the field, a middle-aged man with a bald patch leading a group of teachers began lecturing students.

Lin Yu recognized this man. It seemed that he was the vice principal of the college…but he could not say for sure as the college had quite a few vice principals. However, he saw his class teacher amongst the group of teachers.

Many students began returning to their dorms in the face of the teachers’ seriousness. However, they went back with a little idea of what had happened.

Someone in the second-year dorm building had used illegal appliances to cook in his room, which resulted in a powerful explosion.

“I saw a guy who was on fire getting blown out of his window by the explosion before falling onto the field.”

“I think he’s definitely dead. Is the college trying to…”

On the way back to their respective rooms, a few of the alleged witnesses began telling the story to their friends and roommates. As there had been news reports of weird incidents lately, the students began talking about conspiracy theories and the possibility of a spiritual energy rejuvenation as well.

The chatter cast another shadow of doubt in Lin Yu’s mind.

While the others were talking about it jokingly, Lin Yu did not dare to negate the possibility of a spiritual energy rejuvenation while wielding his newfound superpower.

“Could Second Brother be right? I can’t make sense of it. How could an induction cooker blow up a whole dorm room?”

“No matter what it is, it’s better to stay home as much as possible during these times. There have been too many reports of incidents lately and there may be more chaos soon.”

“What’s the use of not going out? Didn’t an explosion just happen to people who stayed in their room?”

Xu Zhaoyang and the others were still chatting anxiously as they returned to their room.

“Okay, Second Brother, can you stop with the bullsh*t? Must you make everyone live in anxiety?”

Xu Zhaoyang said in an annoyed tone. The others began seconding his words as well; they no longer wanted to think or talk about such things due to the uneasiness they felt. They wanted to run away from the problem.

“To me, there’s nothing to worry about. Although there have been reports of weird incidents, weren’t they all solved when the police arrived at the scene? We should believe in the country.”

4Zheng Wei tried to ease the tension between the roommates.

“That’s right, who cares if it’s a monster attack or an accident? The police solved it all eventually. As long as we’re more careful during these times, it won’t affect us.”

1The guys began comforting each other.

“Let’s call home and remind them to be careful.”

Lin Yu shook his head and smiled. He got up, walked out of his room, and called home while standing in the corridor.

He was a Changhai local. However, Changhai Vocational College was located in the city and was quite a bit of distance from his house. He chose to stay in the dorm as he would have to go through the congested city center to get to his college from home.

Truth be told, after what happened today, he thought about moving back home. The warden rarely recorded attendance anyway.

Nonetheless, he was still logical and understood that he would not be of any help if his parents were in any danger back home.

It was impossible for his parents to let him take a gap year, and moving home meant that he would have to travel between college and home everyday. That would make it more dangerous for him.

If his family was in danger, he would only end up being buried together with them if he went home now; he would not even have the chance to take his revenge. If they were not in danger but he ended up dying from traveling between home and college instead, it would be a pity.

His awakened superpower was capital for protecting himself and his family. He should be enhancing his strength and obtaining equipment that could provide him with combat capabilities. Only then would he become a true protector of his family. He would be able to gain a foothold in the future no matter how the world ended up becoming.

“Hello, Mom…”

He had a chat with his mother about things at home, but after cautioning his parents to be careful during these times, he hung up.

He did not call his father.

It was not as if they were not close. Lin Yu and his father had similar traits and were both not great at expressing themselves. Even if they were speaking to each other over the phone, they would not know what to talk about and would end up responding to each other in one word. Since his parents were running the store together, one call was sufficient.

After hanging up and going back into his room, Lin Yu found his roommates calling home as well. Zhou Jie had hung up long ago while the others seemed annoyed as they spoke to their families; it was obvious that they were all enduring nagging from their families.

“Is this a common trait we all have?”

Lin Yu’s mood brightened upon seeing the looks of the others.

After persevering through being nagged by their parents, the guys hung up and no longer felt anxious. Soon after that, they were back to laughing and messing around.
